For me, I think that The Expendables is an action movie compost that I've been waiting a long time for- and I can't wait to see it. I love the kind of 'batshit insanely cool' action movies from the 80's and this definitely seems like a love letter to fans like us.

To be honest, I'm not looking for story or performances (besides ass-kicking), and because of that I may be surprised (probably not) But I'm just looking for a film where a bunch of action-movie staples go out and kill A LOT of dudes.

Some of the stupidest, weakest movies I've ever seen got very high ratings, while others (especially comedies) that I've found to be really enjoyable get butchered. It's all about preferance, and in a mindless action flick like the expendables (unless I'm confusing it with another film, that happens from time to time) I don't really see how it can be that bad.

I like just about every kind of movie, and I'm STILL excited because I never take a newspaper's word on movies. I normally use good judgement or IMDB if its a tough choice. IMDB gave this one an 8.5 which is excellent for a movie.

I saw it. It didn't suck. It wasn't a thinking man's movie, but if you turn your brain off it's one of the best action movies around, and it was pretty funny.

Ofcourse it's worth watching, reviews are not there to make your mind up for you, they're there to give you an idea of what the writer though.

Suck it up and go watch it.

This, it's like listening to Yahtzee and saying "He said it sucked. so it MUST suck!"

I personally loved every minute of it, and the black man at the end reminded me SO MUCH of the Demoman from TF2. Only thing I dont like was the camera shaking so often, but these days its common in these movies.

It seemed like a rather cynical attempt to mash all the major action stars of the last 20 years into a movie solely to sell tickets based on how many of them there were. I never expected it to be good. Here's a good rule of thumb to follow: If you see a trailer for a movie that shows very little or almost no footage from the movie, it's gonna be bad.

You bet your sorry ass I'll be seeing it. It never pretended to be anything more then an 80s action flick, and when you have a cast consisting of pretty much everyone who may have at any point in time been affiliated with an 80s style action flick, you can't go wrong.

Actually if you check MovieBobs blog, he says he hated it.

However, I went and saw it with my dad and we LOVED it. Great fight and battle scenes and contrary to what MovieBob says, there is a good amount of blood and gore (Guys getting blown apart mainly). The whole finale is just awesome and lasts around thirty minutes (I think). If you want to see a movie made for men this summer, this is probably the one to see. (And the writing is not A+ but definitely not terrible either.)
