Race Driver: GRID - first corner of the first track in the demo.

That's the point where I found out that the handling was complete and utter arse, it was impossible to corner well either doing so properly like a sim racer or like an arcade racer, or even like an inbetweener like PGR.

Picked up Manhunt 2 on the Wii, having been a huge fan of the first one. About ten minutes later, I never played it again.

Assassin's Creed 1. I pre-ordered it because I had such high hopes, and after about ten minutes I realized it was not at all the game I wanted.

I climbed shit for an hour or so, then returned it.

5 Minutes within Sonic Unleashed when I realised it didn't feel like I had complete control of Sonic, but rather that the game felt like a big quicktime event to me.

My first boss encounter, Warrior Within. Having The Prince snarl 'You *****!' pretty much summed up all that was wrong with the game for me. I kept going with it for a while longer, but it was the beginning of the end, and the end followed fairly swiftly.

DBZ Raging blast. This was only days ago, i hired it out, played one match and hated it.
The camera was abysmal (which the AI used to its advantage, going into your blind side) The combat felt slow and clunky, the special moves required only a tap of the right thumbstick, the storytelling part was worse than other games like it, with poorly synced lips (when it was not just text) The button layout was horrible (who would put block as RB?)

I tried to like it more by playing more matches, but realized that these flaws were apparent throughout the game, not just in one match. So yea...

I then returned that game and hired Avatar instead.

Bad idea. Its monotonous as all hell.

I guess i will wait till 'the saboteur' is available to rent

Ohhh, forgot about this one. For me it took a bit longer - I loved Sands of Time with all my heart - but for me it was that first chase scene with the Time Monster Thing while heavy metal blasted in the background. I was like "This is not Prince of fucking Persia".

The latest one i can remember is EVE online. played the demo for about 30 min, was kinda understanding the tutorials. but just got lost and confused. couldn't complete a mining mission because ship couldn't carry that much, and had trouble doing the kill missions.
really liked the idea of the game, just wasn't meant to be to play it.

Magna Carta for the ps2.Around 2 hours in.

The battle was slow, and the VA sounded like they were either bored, or were actually zombies forced to do voice acting for brains.
I made it through the intro and about the first 10 minutes of gameplay. I honestly had no idea that the main character was (supposedly) male until the first dialogue came up. Plus, everything was far more garbage-y than expected. I popped the game back into the box, drove back to the store, and immediately returned the game.

Brawl, as soon as I started tripping for no reason and even though Snake and Sonic were on the box, you still needed to spend a lot of time to get them.

Probably Halo 3, within 10 minutes I was bored, sold it to a friend ^_^
Lost like 10% of what I paid for it, but at least I could say I don't own that rancid sack of horse feces :D

This is for a game you actually bought/rented/played, not one you saw the ads for and dismissed. What was the fastest you realized the game was bad or not worth your time? What game was it and why did it fail your expectations? Try to be specific as to what didn't work.

Mine was 5 minutes with Jade Cocoon 2. It had none of the deep story elements of the first game, and it was chock full of cliches.

Your turn.
Good to know. I was planning on buying Jade Cocoon 2, but now I guess i'll try getting it for cheap. and for me it was Predator: Concrete Jungle. I did about 8 missions into the game and then realized "this is just shit".
It's a shame, the concept was great and I was looking forward to chasing Danny glover through an urban setting. Oh well, at least it only cost me $5

Alone in the Dark, dear god Alone in the Dark! I only got it with my Xbox 360 because they were sold out of CoD4. I had hoped not having high hopes for it would help, but 10 minutes into the game and I was sick of it. Although it seems petty having to press a button every thirty seconds to clear my vision got old and tedious fast. I want to be able to take in my enviroment and see what I need to go, not be forced to deal with some shoehorned in game mechanic which really didn't need to be there.
Hahaha, you clearly didn't give the game a chance, as that "annoying blinking" actually becomes the only way to kill the cracks when you get much further in the game. It's not shoehorned in, it fits quite well. My only regret about that game was I bought it on PC, and it was a nightmare to finish. Still not a horrible game though. My suggestion is you actually get through more than 3 hours of the game before you make a statement like this.

As soon as the first character spoke in Far Cry, I was gone.

Did anyone actually like that game? I got about 75% of the way through it and just couldn't force myself to go on any longer.

First mission of Supreme Commander. After winning the first mission without knowing what I had done I said "fuck this".
