Wait what? Since I cant play the game, I have not followed much about it. If Bounty Hunters are Sith, then thats just stupid. Are they copying WoW THAT much? Lame. DnD is a better way to go. A bounty Hunter can help whoever the hell they want.
As far as I know, so far there's two factions, with 4 classes each.

Republic has:
Jedi Knight (melee dps/tank)
Jedi Counselor (melee caster/healer)
Smuggler (ranged dps)
Trooper (ranged dps/tank)

Sith Empire has:
Sith Warrior (melee dps/tank)
Sith Inquisitor (melee caster/healer)
Imperial Agent (ranged dps)
Bounty Hunter (ranged dps/tank)

Edit: There was a rumor a while back that you could choose your side regardless of what class you pick, but that seems to have been only a rumor. I haven't seen anything official regarding cross-faction play.

Unlikely. Plenty of people acually prefer being the good guy. Plus there ARE people who would rather be a bounty hunter.
Bounty Hunters are Sith, just saying.
Bounty Hunters are Bounty Hunters. Sith are Sith.
Considering the post I quoted was saying that people want to be the good guy and be a bounty hunter, it's a safe assumption that he was referring to bounty hunters being on the Republic. Since that isn't true, and the bounty hunters are actually sided with the "Sith Empire", it is a logical conclusion to call them Sith.
Wait what? Since I cant play the game, I have not followed much about it. If Bounty Hunters are Sith, then thats just stupid. Are they copying WoW THAT much? Lame. DnD is a better way to go. A bounty Hunter can help whoever the hell they want.
Somewhat, Bounty hunters side with the Sith in the sense that the Republic actively seek to disban and outlaw bounty hunting in general. Essentially the Sith give them plenty of contracts and the Republic shut them down. Smugglers, on the other hand, are similar to the concept of Corsairs, Pirates who get paid to take down enemy ships.

So basically, Bounty hunters still are self serving, they just dont get service on Republic held planets and have more luck on places like Hutta.

lol but why u mad?

seriously man, look at all the other comments nobody felt the need to insult anyone else, come back when you can have a civil discussion.
Mad, who said anything about mad? Buddy, I don't have time in my busy schedule to get mad at people making baseless comments when in the face of overwhelming and contradictory evidence. If you took offense that's entirely up to you. I was pointing out facts.
lol, I didn't say anything about myself taking offense at all I just pointed out that you weren't discussing this topic civilly.

So far I have seen no contradictory evidence as this forum is a small test group and of the expected millions of subscribers you believe a forum poll of a couple thousand users will be an accurate representation of what the game will be like on release? I don't think so.

If you provide evidence I will discuss it with you.

Did you always play the Sith in KotoR? Of course not. Not everyone likes being evil in Star Wars.

I think it's fatal flaw is that it completely ignores KoTOR 2. It's most glaringly obvious in the trailer when it talks about how Revan met the Sith Empire in the outer regions. Anyone who's played KoTOR 2 will know that that's bullshit because when you talk to Kreia about Revan, she says that Revan 'met no Sith Empire yet learned their teachings'. I just refuse to accept this one as canon, the same way I find that Star Trek Online's "plot" is just a contrived excuse to have you killing every red blip on sensors, no questions asked.
Yeah, but KOTOR 2 was made by Obsidian.
KOTOR 1 and TOR are both made by Bioware. You know, the better RPG maker?
Revan did meet the Sith Empire, though. Not directly, but he went to Korriban to the ancient temples. So while he didn't meet any real sith, he did search and learn through the temples. Doesn't that count?
Excuse me, but I think KotoR 2 is a far better game. Hugely flawed, yes. People seem to forget how buggy/glitchy even the original KotoR was (on Xbox). But even so, admitting how much glitchier KotoR 2 is, I still much prefer it both for the minor gameplay tweaks it makes which improve the game, and the expanded scope of the story. Kreia is pure awesome, and the writing in general is excellent.

Most people will be Sith or Jedi. I'm choosing bounty hunter to avoid that.
You do realize that no matter what you pick, there's going to be a horde of low-levels of the same class as you in the starting area reminding you that you're not an unique snowflake?
yes, but I have a feeling more people are going to be one of the Jedi/Sith Classes more than any other one.

Yes! Burn the heretics, purge the unclean! FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Oh, sorry, wrong sci-fi universe. Yeah you really make the Jedi sound like they're SW's Space Marines. Sadly they're monks spending 90% of their time negotiating and playing Judge Judy. What makes people love Jedi so much?
Because if you played the KotoR games, you understood that playing Judge Judy was really, really fun.

Go to the official website of The Old Republic. The forums there tend to be where many, if not most fans of the game congregate. Under the "Character Classes" you will find that, combined, the Light Side classes have 3753 created threads to their name. The Dark Side boards, on the other hand, have only 3382 threads created. I'm still doing the math for number of posts, but based on this number alone there seems to be a slight edge towards people who wish to play for the Light.

EDIT: I've counted up the posts. There are 151,209 posts in LS boards, and 134,436 posts in DS boards. Once again the Light has a slight edge.

My shortcomings concerning my internet connectivity deny me from reading this whole topic, but has it come to anyone's mind that exactly how are there supposed to be massive armies of Jedi and Sith around, when in KOTOR 2 there was barely one last Jedi alive (and after the end of the game, if I remember this correctly, the Sith were having a shortage of men aswell after Sion's/Nihilus' fates? Have they introduced the True Sith to the game or why are there so many of them?

I think it will be pretty evenly split between Republic and Sith.

At my house, I plan on being a Trooper while my son definitely has plans on being Sith. That should be fun! :D

I'm going Jedi Knight, without question. I mean come on, how can anyone who watched the star wars movies as a child NOT want to be a Jedi?

There is no math to be done, while this may be the core group of gamers a couple of thousand members is not a large enough test group to show a trend for millions, and let's say you are right and these are the very hardcore Star Wars fans, then that suggests the majority of subscriber will not be as hardcore and might have a hugely different outlook towards the classes than the core fans.

I play the good guys in almost every RPG game I play. Only Jade Empire did I start by playing a jerk, and he was pretty good until it came time to recruit Death's Hand.. have to be evil to get him, and I wanted him, so I basically went pure evil from that moment on.

I'm totally picking Spectre as a class. As for race, I'm choosing Elcor. I can't wait to go through that Omega 4 Relay...

As I recall (although I'd have to check again) The in universe "source" of the information claiming that Revan did isn't based on solid facts, and is really just an assumption by those who witnessed the aftermath.

In other words, I don't think any official canon has been revealed to be confirming that he did in fact make contact, just that the beings writing the history books believed he made contact. (ie; Just because somebody in universe believes it happened that way, doesn't mean it did)

And on topic, while I personally can't grasp anyone wanting to be anything other than Sith, personal experience with other games has shown that there's going to plenty, if not more people, choosing to be the good guys.
