It might be these two things:

1) An uber troll.

2) A simple cipher like taking two away from each letter and converting the number into a letter.

only several of the letters are the code, some of them are part of the message, the rest need replaced....the first two words are "anyone else"....least i think it is....give me another day

"Olson also declined to discuss possible connections to automotive terms found in the note. Several messages to Fox News from viewers who saw the FBI's call to action indicated they believed the note contained references to automotive-related terms or perhaps instructions or serial numbers McCormick would later relay to a technician."

Foxnews Source: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/03/31/fbi-inundated-tips-encrypted-notes-1-murder-mystery/

Looks like more than one person believes it is auto codes. Also, the FBI said they don't have the bandwidth for e-mail or phone calls. Nice work Ricky McCormick! You stump them for over a decade and then you crash their information hardware--all while dead.

MTSE= Maintenance VLSE= refers to a Nissan distributor program WSE= Provides used cars and parts to Nissan.

FRTSE= A website that was Nissan geared and went offline in 1998.

The VIN Number is 17 digits starts JN2_ S _S? _G_ C _ X and then I lost conversions. T=Origin Oppama Japan U= Stanza L= Production sequence BK= is Black I think.

Second page is a ***** because he is grabbing cars by color, vin, plate, and various ways and still working on that. But Mechanics work book time, so to keep a dealer honest and make sure you get paid you log your jobs, those jobs can be cross referenced by vin, plate, and various ways.
Then tell the FBI about it. If they like what you have to say, they may listen.

Another problem is that since the FBI had 11 years to go at this, then we don't know exactly what the FBI has already tried. They could release their notes if not on the case, then on the notes themselves. They probably can't, but it would be very helpful if we knew what they had tried already
Ya know, I called them early on and they never really call anyone back as they tend to be pretty busy with terrorists and real problems.

But truth be told, I have not stopped looking at this for a few days and was pretty sure it was car related but I did not realize exactly until last night as I have been out of the business for a long time and remembering procedures is not as hard as remembering code or recognizing how something would look.

I do not think any crypto breaker would get this because there is no math involved, no substitutions and quite frankly nothing to break into. Its just options and notes with acronyms for parts, training, and methods for doing the job.

If someone want to go to a Nissan dealer and try and special order a car they would get build codes on a print out, their not secret but no one really pays all that much attention to them unless their utilizing them.

And now I have to go back to page one and figure out what he was doing as these could actually be training notes. I just do not have time for the FBI and I am sure they are swamped with code breakers on this, and seeing they waited twelve years I guess a couple more days to work on it wont hurt.

I am the person who deciphered most of the page titled ?NOTES? not more than 9 hours (approx.) after the Yahoo News article was posted. I?m sure the post timestamp affiliated with the computer IP address I used, and Yahoo records, will confirm this. My post has been removed from Yahoo posts (and even deleted from my avatar history of posts) despite my high rating of thumbs up and people agreeing with my findings (perhaps due to me including an email address to share thoughts with others; thank you everyone who has contacted me directly to help confirm and validate my findings, or simply for your moral support, including several law enforcement officers (both retired and active) who are helping me understand the approach of LE detectives. I am sure Yahoo has its reasons. To whoever hacked my Facebook page and shut it down; I have no ill will towards you and wish you all the best in your life. The person who posted their theories now on this forum calling themselves ?the Wise One? has copied my notes verbatim, adding the theories of others at the start and end of my writing (thank you for continuing to spread our findings). My part in this forum post from ?the Wise One? starts with ?On the page title ?NOTES???. and ending with ?from him travelling?. I am not trying to reclaim credit, but simply attempting to illustrate to you what I have accomplished so far, and perhaps capture your attention in order to reveal the rest of the message. On a personal note, I will not be forwarding my findings to the FBI via mail as is being requested by the article, and would simply ask any Good Samaritan to copy, print and mail it for yourself if you feel strongly enough to help in this case. I have my own reasons (they?re called: paranoia, agoraphobia & apathy). Finally, for everyone who has emailed me and given me a great deal of moral support, thank you so kindly. To the dozens of law enforcement officers, either from my state or outside of my state/federal level, please do not be offended if I refuse to return your phone calls/emails, as I am not interested in involving myself personally or become entangled in law enforcement bureaucracy. I want to repeat once again, the FBI has already cracked this ?code? (it?s not a code at all, it?s a form of gibberish derived from local slang and Ricky?s own made up language which really holds no set of rules, but changes constantly, for those mega geniuses cracking their skulls with algorithms/mathematical theorems, computer software and/or crypto-powers?.lol), but the FBI is instead attempting to seek the meaning behind Ricky McCormick?s words in order to find something else (I will not say what at this time). They are looking for help understanding what he means when he is saying certain things, and are hoping that people in the general public with similar mindsets, cultural backgrounds, experiences, etc?can better interpret Ricky McCormick?s words, in order to find something related to Ricky?s actions while he was alive.
I am certain, as it has already happened, that my post will be removed once again shortly after, either by Yahoo or some silly 4chan-type hacker for the sake of lulz, so please feel free to copy my notes before that happens, or spread them to other forums. Thank you so kindly, with all of my best intentions.
- Mr. Hat - JCM0511
*IMPORTANT*: I will create a free blog online displaying both the notes and their translations in full, plus how I translated them, for public view and will post everything in full for everyone to see, but you?ll have to email me for a link as I?m sure adding a link to this post will surely cause an immediate removal as spam.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the decrypted message starting with the ?first? page:
Circled ?P? on top right corner = Page 1 (This is obvious. I do this with all of my notes as well.)
*IMPORTANT*: PAGE 1 is the first page of several pages Mr. McCormick wrote (about 6 pages) and has no ?direct? immediate correlation with the page titled ?NOTES?. Page 1 begins (and surely extends over several pages thus confirming my theory of multiple pages) telling a very long, detailed, and intricate story about what Ricky McCormick has been doing, his reasons for the things he did, and his thoughts on the person he had become. You MUST realize that a LOT of his thoughts are intertwined with fantasy and therein lays the confusion and major obstacle. The FBI is only revealing the first page and the NOTES page (other pages reveal details which would not be suitable to release to the public at this time for obvious reasons) because it is a way to use both pages to best ?decode? the messages due to repeating letters contained in both pages as clues to help public sleuths. Why are they really doing this? They know that it would be a matter of days for the messages to be decoded, but are instead waiting on the response from those who actually understand what Ricky is saying, how it relates to real life and locations, so they can solve other mysteries relating to Ricky (are you following me?), BUT believe me when I tell you, Ricky had multiple pages (approx. 6 or more pages) total in these handwritten notes, or ?pseudo-diary? of his. I know this because I too have to number my pages to keep track of my thoughts and a sense of timeline, because medication & alcohol abuse, or lack of medication/alcohol/illegal drugs, causes a loss of short term memory and a distortion in timeline/events. Mr. McCormick had a history of alcohol abuse and delusions/psychotic episodes (was arrested & baker acted (mental health)) and he had a great deal of confusion when it came to time or series of events (reality distortion). He would rarely, most likely never, wear a watch. He lived in a world of semi-fantasy as most persons who suffer from autism/adhd/bi-polar, etc. Ricky exhibited deviant behavior in his sexual relationships and did have aggressive tendencies. He could best be described by a layperson who knew nothing of his medical history as a narcissist; selfish, self-centered, stimulation-seeking (alcohol, drugs, sex, parties, etc.), BUT had a very charming personality; funny, witty, smart and able to befriend others quickly and gain the trust of strangers with ease. His lack of college education did not retard Ricky?s ability to learn very quickly, easily manipulate others, and found himself often passing through life merely on his charm and adventurous nature. Ricky had many dark sides to him, the most prevalent of which was his sexual deviancy (I?ll prove that in a second with the full translation of PAGE 1). More importantly, Mr. McCormick was NOT murdered in my opinion, but instead died from a medication overdose/reaction possibly mixed with alcohol or another form of drug, maybe even liver/kidney failure/stroke/heart attack?.due to years of mixing medications/drugs/alcohol, and his head trauma being reported in his death report was most likely caused by him falling or stumbling onto something during a drunken/inebriated stupor. The person or persons he was partying with decided to dump his body to avoid police trouble due to drugs being in the scenario. His purpose for being out where he was, which is what everyone wants to know, was to revisit ?someone?. He wanted to commit suicide due to the guilt of what he had been doing over the years, but instead of a quick death, he was abusing drugs/alcohol and hoping to end his life that way. He took the notes that were found on his person to remind himself of both A) his past transgressions and the exact location of a person he wanted to ?revisit?, and B) who he blamed for his most recent psychotic episodes and recurring lack of self-control; i.e.: the mental health community/hospital/doctors/nurses (as I have already explained and deciphered in the ?NOTES? page. He felt responsible for his actions, but also felt that it was exacerbated by poor mental health treatment, medication and his premature release from the mental health hospital (therefore he does blame the hospital and staff as is validated in his NOTES letter; he did in fact wish for someone to further investigate the series of events that he felt were criminal, or negligent at best, and this is why he carried the NOTES section of his letters. He was going to find a way to incriminate certain people, but again, you must remember that these are the delusional thoughts of an angry man bent on revenge, but not always based on reality. He could never let things go and was always thinking of ways to get revenge. Anyway, most people will not want to read this part, but Ricky was already on a dark path of hurting people (which is why the other letters have been withheld by the FBI because these letters I?m sure will detail things he did, and I believe this based on what PAGE1 is already starting to illustrate). Hi,

Rather than quote all of that how would you explain at least 5 individual acronyms for motor vehicle related training, and a clear reference to motor oil? which is probably the only clear thing I see. I ran a couple different scenarios other than auto on the assumption that this is not a code and would be curious to see what you have.

Why Yahoo would blow your postings and translations would be of interest as well. No reason to do that unless ordered.

I am also looking at this MNDMXNEAPSE at a few angles, can you tell me what that is?

Best,

Kris

This.

I'm not even sure there's a code at all. If it took the FBI THIS long to publicly say "we give up on this", it's unlikely to even be a real code.

I never thought the FBI released it all and was wondering about that, I also thought that maybe this was not exactly a 11 year old issue and that this is some kind of open quagmire and the writer may be alive.

11 Years waited to break a code on a dead high school dropout?. I Googled his name to try and get the original story and see if it said what he did for a living. I got no less than 10 full front page hits of searches on forums and news sites, that was a huge release and went viral from the get go. Why?.

And they don't want phone calls or say they have no bandwidth?. No, I am sorry but I think their looking for something else.

Just my opinion.

In my opinion Yahoo! deleted my post because it included names, addresses and phone numbers from my translations, and they might just be attempting to avoid a lawsuit or something. I've been blocked from posting on Yahoo forums now (hmmmm), but thankfully I received a lot of emails before that because I posted an alternate email with my original post, and am currently exchanging emails with several persons from different law enforcement agencies. I can say this now with confidence: the FBI is NOT looking for a "codebreaker"....but instead, they are trying to get help validating what may be a sick man's fantasies, OR possibly a list of very disturbing criminal activities. I profiled Mr. McCormick as a possible serial rapist/murderer, and just now a woman in the field of criminal justice informed me via email that Ricky had served 11 months of a 3 year sentence for statutory rape. I never bothered to look up Mr. McCormicks criminal record (as I am hyper-focused on the letters alone), and I feel strongly now that my translations are being validated by others as they email me more and more details about this man. Again, keep in mind that PAGE 1 is but one of a series of pages (possibly up to 6) detailing events that either did happen or may have been fantasies. Events which, to be as delicate about this as possible, may involve child rape/murder or other illegal activities. I pray to God that I am wrong, and again, I could care less if I'm called crazy for what I am saying, but if it is true, all victim's MUST be vindicated. Thanks all for your time. Peace. dannysantopiettro at yah oo

Alright, well if their not looking for a codebreaker than I can go back about my life. It is curious however that the initial release gave up "High School Drop Out" but what made that even more curious was that they said he was "Street Smart" and could "Read and Write"

I find that very weird, never met a high school dropout that could not read and write and some of the greatest minds in history were thrown or dropped out of school. But once you add Bi-Polar and medication you have a serious problem when looking at these pages.

They really down played his intelligence and portrayed something in a manner where they would want you to go. If he was wicked smart its one thing, if he was mental and wicked smart its another. But I still don't think its code and if it is he is mixing various reference and language. Need to know what this guy read or if he read, did he have a hobby.

Later,

Kris

Actually no. The cipher you just described is a simple Vigenere cipher. These ciphers have been used and cracked for a long time now. It take me about two minutes to crack such a cipher, so I imagine the FBI could crack it in a few seconds.

This is an actual Viginere ciphertext, by the way. It's all 1 line, but divided into 4 so it won't stretch off the page. You won't waste your time solving it, and you say you can solve them very quickly.

OT: Sounds like the mechanic hypothesis has something going for it. I wonder if Mccormick was indeed employed as a car mechanic? So far the FBI hasn't released any information there. I bet none of their top cryptographers had any experience working in auto shops.

Kris, please don't give up just because of my opinion! You may very well be the link that solves the puzzle...that is the whole point...we all work together with various backgrounds, experiences, cultures, etc...so please, unless you really don't want to, keep up the good work!

I'm not giving up really but my question is really whether or not this guy was smart or unbalanced. The way they wrote this up makes him sound as though he is barely literate, the problem with that is there is no profile.

I am looking at, or I am pretty sure I am looking at a low level 41 year old Nissan Mechanic. If he is Bi Polar it would explain maybe why he is a High School Drop out, but if he is a functional autistic with a hobby of encryption? it would be a nightmare for me.

I am not sure what they are looking for, but I see a guy that is letter jumping with abbreviations, but no one and I mean no one hand writes build codes for notes unless maybe your training, there appear to be maybe two build codes, one VIN that is jumbled, a possible license plate tag. But the kicker is if your using a 17 digit number in context of the rest of the document then why would you scramble that number?.

There is too much in there for me to see that the guy is a mechanic, but if that is a code he is really smarter than they portray him to be. And that does not seem to be the case. A functional person with autism could easily slip through a school system and drop out, he could also easily fall into crime specifically sexual. But at the same time he could be brilliant and no one would really know. That's not were the FBI is saying.

Best,

Kris

I think it says "Remember to drink your ovaltine".

But seriously, asking the internet for help is like asking a flea to help stop a 5-alarm blaze; you probably should consider other options.
