I'm talking about encyclopedic knowledge here. I'm not asking if you've gone 100% on every game, or if you've even played EVERY game. I mean knowledge: lore, backstories, quotes, technicalities, references, behind the scenes, etc. You at your nerdiest: what videogame franchise do you know the best and the most? Would you win EVERY argument about it?

For singling out purposes I would have to say Silent Hill. I'm not a raving fanboy for it, but it's the franchise I just so happen to have played (and replayed) the most. I've wasted countless hours understanding its plot, the references from one game to the next, the chronology and the cause and effect of events, the meaning and the symbolism behind EVERYTHING (even though there's a lot of BS tucked in between), everybody and everything's name, and anything you can probably think of when it comes to knowledge. I can talk about the spin-offs I've never played, the year EVERY game came out, and what kind of canon each series entry belongs to. I can even call each key dev member by their name, and what games they worked on, and in what position.

And so on.

What about you?

Elder Scrolls, and Half-Life/Portal easily.

I know like everything about those two game series timelines, characters, and background lore. All the hidden mythic symbolism in each act of Skyrim's MQ.

I also know a bit about Fallout's lore, but not as much as I do TES or HL/Portal.

The legend of Zelda. I know about all there is to know about the games as well as the lore and how the Hylian religion works. Seriously, I can even read Hylian signs in Skyward sword and wind waker.

I know way too much about Warhammer 40k (with this post a Black Ship of the Inquistion has been dispatched to deal with me)
And Pre-WoW Warcraft I know incredibly well before they did all the crazy ret-con to shove the dranei into the game

I also know Almost as much as one can know about LoL lore including the Origin and country of all of the over 100 champinions even when they keep changing it

Well, I've accumulated a fucklot of knowledge after almost 8 years of playing Dota.

I try to find out as much as I can about Persona 3 and 4.

I know a shitload about Pacific Rim.

I can name almost every Wanzer and his skills from Front Mission 3.

I can speedrun and find every single Dino-File in Dino Crisis 2.

I'm gonna say Kingdom Hearts. Played all the games, understood all the stories, know most, if not all, the lore and back story. The only thing I'm not too familiar with are the interviews with Nomura, but I have a cheat sheet for that.

Technically the game franchise i know the most about is Total War, but its not like there is a whole ton of lore to remember and the history I have learnt does not always match with creative assembly history.

This, but i know more about the fantasy version of warhammer. Unfortunately i dont think i can include that in this thread, because fantasy has never had a good video game as of yet (dont let me down creative assembly) unlike 40k. I do know that Bugmans bar (which is inside Warhammer world (which is games workshop hq)) is right next to my university though, so maybe i can get some points for that.

Yeah... I'm with you on that... In fact, even though I got into Kingdom Hearts through Chain of Memories for the Gameboy Advance instead of my cousins, who got into the series from Day 1, I still know more about the production timeline for each of the games released under the Kingdom Hearts property... including both mobile games and the recent MMO that's still in beta right now...

Other than that, the Rayman franchise is another series I know the most about... It has become second behind Kingdom Hearts, but before KH, I knew everything about the Rayman series as well as its complete production timeline... I kinda stopped during the growing "Raving Rabbits" age, but have since gotten back to remembering everything Rayman-related after the first announcement of Rayman Origins...

Those are the only two that I can say I know more about those game franchises... A close third is probably Jak and Daxter, but that's only through the game's lore and nothing else... (It did feel weird going into Jak 2 first before Jak and Daxter, but I felt like it had a pretty good self-contained story that didn't need the full details of the first game to understand it, though...)

Sonic, probably by quiet some way. Some of it I wish I didn't know D:
Eh... It's not something I know more about, per se, but I'm willing to know more about it through someone else, though... Although it is in my Top 10 franchises that I know about... slightly below Nintendo as a whole, which I'm sure the info you wished you didn't know about is probably on par with the Nintendo stuff I wished I didn't know about... (I hope...)

I have very conflicting knowledge of warhammer fantasy because its pieced together from a combination of assorted Fluff books (Gotrek&Felix, Vamire Genevieve, Vampire Wars etc) and Warhammer online

Could you explain to me then how and when will they finally get over Xehanort? They seem to rewrite the rules of the KH universe with every new game they make. First we have "Somebodies" turning into Heartless... then it turns out once you defeat a Heartless, a Nobody comes out... then once you defeat that too, apparently they turn back into Somebodies... is it never over? Do they just keep making games like Final Fantasy to the point it becomes a dead horse, or is there an actual end plotted?

Metal Gear Solid and The Elder Scrolls. Mass Effect probably goes on that list too.

I would say Splinter Cell and Silent Hill. I've gone through all the Splinter Cells when they came out (incl. both the Xbox and 360 version of Double Agent) as well as most of the Silent Hills.

I know the characters, the plots, the backstories and motivations... and in the case of Splinter Cell, the politics and the targets.

I know Team Fortress 2's lore probably better than most other games -- The Gravel Wars, the relation to the original Team Fortress, the Mann legacy, the interview videos. Considering how much I play it and how much I love learning the hilarious history, that isn't much of a surprise.

Second would be Legend of Zelda, which I find suprising because of how much I don't play it. I can name most enemies (Like-Likes, Keese, Ropes, Tectites, Pol's Voice, Wizrobes), remember most dungeon layouts, know the various lores and backstories of the game.

Pokemon. Aside from history and lore, I know an entire library's worth of (admittedly useless) trivia and theories.
