Nothing, unfortunately. I haven't played Demon's Souls, I haven't played all the Armored Cores, and I haven't played all the Monster Hunters (thanks Capcom Obama), and they're my three favourites. I've written guides for Dark Souls and Armored Core for Answer and I'm pretty damn good on the lore, but sadly they're not whole series.

I think I can say DotA. Not so much Lore-wise, since the lore was introduced at DotA 2 which I just recently started playing, but damn near 10 years of playing the game (since v6.08!) and they still keep mixing stuff up! I remember when in v6.66, they significantly buffed Lucifer, the Doombringer and I thought it was just an in-joke due to the version number, but the changes stuck!

As for the geekiest thing I've done for the sake of games, I've made maps for Wild Arms 2, Tales of Destiny 2 (the PS1 title) and took down quest notes in Arc the Lad 3. Also, I could write in Celestian (Tales of Destiny 2 again) since I made a cypher (it was a 1:1 alphabet translation into the English language.)

I rack my brain but can't think of a single game or franchise that I would know more about than someone else...Then again I'm thinking about this in a "one person against whole internet" sort of mind-frame so I guess among my circle of friends just about any Xbox or 360 exclusive since they took the PS3 route.

Take Halo: Reach for example. I was really disappointed that the first level didn't have the Spartans going up against the anti-UNSC forces that were talked about in the book Halo: The Fall of Reach. My brother is probably the only person I'm in casual contact with who knows about that plot line as far as my friends go.

Otherwise I think I'm more of a jack-of-all-trades kind of player. No stat has a perfect 10 but none of them are a stunted 4 either.

Final Fantasy, 1 through to 10.

I could probably name every boss and their tactics if I saw them, a good percentage of the enemies and weapons and probably know, either outright or by gut instinct, where to find various items or secrets. I know the crazy fan theories, the history, order of encountering locations and recognize most, if not all, music by ear.

Mortal Kombat and most of the time I don?t even know why I bother. I mean, it?s a fighting game... why do I give a crap about characters or story? It?s all just a little nice window dressing for a neato character they designed and the story there to build a little context if you find yourself actually asking why these people are punching eachother in the face. I know this and yet...god damn it I somehow always end up caring about where the story is going. What interesting places they could take the take these characters..

Next I would say Mass Effect though I can't follow the science all that well.

and lastly probably Resident Evil. Though after Code Veronica I stopped trying to follow things so closely. I think it had something to do with Zombie Elephants. AGH! MY BRAIN.. >.< ...it's just so stupid...

The Legend of Zelda, I know my way through just about every dungeon in all the games. I could tell you the names of most of the characters and enemies, and tell you what game they first showed up in. I could tell you location of every heart piece, gold skulltula, Poe soul, mask etc. I know the lore inside and out, I recognize words in the language, all that good stuff.

I'll give an honorable mention to Pokemon, show me a picture of any of the 649 so far, and I can tell you its name, type, and where you can find it in the wild off the top of my head.
Maybe I can interest you in this then.

I found this a while back, I commented on it once but had a hard time finding it again for some reason. Thanks for the link!

Ah, geez. That would have to be Kingdom Hearts for me. Apparently I'm one of the few people who can easily follow the entire "timeline" and all the characters, and I know so much behind the scenes stuff about how the series was conceived and how it changed over the years. Funny enough, it's not even my favorite game series. Definitely one I enjoy a lot, but I'm not sure if it fits in my top 10.

When I was younger I had an obsession with the game though, so I researched and played the shit out of the games, even most of the handheld ones. Any handheld games I missed I usually just played on an emulator (because I have zero interest in a DS).

I'm gonna say Kingdom Hearts. Played all the games, understood all the stories, know most, if not all, the lore and back story. The only thing I'm not too familiar with are the interviews with Nomura, but I have a cheat sheet for that.
Could you explain to me then how and when will they finally get over Xehanort? They seem to rewrite the rules of the KH universe with every new game they make. First we have "Somebodies" turning into Heartless... then it turns out once you defeat a Heartless, a Nobody comes out... then once you defeat that too, apparently they turn back into Somebodies... is it never over? Do they just keep making games like Final Fantasy to the point it becomes a dead horse, or is there an actual end plotted?
First of all, you're wrong. A Nobody is created when someone with a strong heart turns into a Heartless, not when a Heartless is defeated (they're created at the same time: the Heartless is the heart covered in Darkness, while the Nobody is the empty body left behind). Somebodies are just regular people. When both the Heartless and Nobody of a particular person are defeated, they turn back to their regular self (Somebody, as you say). But they can still die. Turning into a Heartless doesn't mean you die, it just mean you've taken over by Darkness. And KH3 will be the end of the Xehanort saga, with KH4 starting of a new arc with new villains and all... unless no-one's interested in more KH games after 3.
OK, I have a few questions then:

1) Is there a limit to the number of times someone can turn into a Heartless/Nobody?
2) Is Xehanort back to being a "regular" human being in KH3?
3) Where exactly are Terra, Aqua and Ventus at this point?
4) Are Nobodies gone for good once their original persona returns?

I don't follow franchises NEARLY as much as other people do here... I guess I'd have to say Rock Band. It's one of the few franchises I have all the games for (excluding mobile) and play it waaaay too often, and have bought waaaay too many songs as dlc. There's not nearly enough to know in this as any story driven game, but hey. I know some tips and stuff, I guess.

Elder Scrolls, and Dynasty Warriors. Ive played all main TES games, would jump at the chance to play the rest (Shadowkey, Dawnstar...) DW I love the history, both fact and fictional sides of, and have looked up tons of what they dont say, or what is desputable.

Ah, I can't say...
I think I've thrown out a lot of old knowledge for new from different game franchise to game franchise.

But I suppose I can still dredge up some knowledge on Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy, being the biggest franchises that I really enjoyed as a kid.

I thought I knew kingdom hearts, but it became all lost to me some time ago. Very confusing for me.

Definitely Halo for me. Played all the games and read all the books, I even have the legendary editions of Halo 2, 3, and Reach, just for the extra lore materials. I used to also be a Bungie.net nut and would visit the website religiously, watching all the ViDocs. Though in recent years real life has taken over and can't be as damned to stay up to date. Not sure if there have been any new books released, can a fellow fan help me out? I believe the last one I read was the one about Sgt. Johnson (can't recall the title at the moment). Lol, these last few sentences kind of weakens my argument.

Aside from that, I am a huge follower of the Serious Sam franchise. Even though there isn't much lore on the surface (mostly just shoot stuff that moves), there is a lot to be discovered. Been a part of the relatively small community since the first game came out in 2001.

I know a lot about a lot of fighting game stories, especially Tekken, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat. To a lesser extent, I have a pretty extensive knowledge of BlazBlue. I also am pretty well-versed in Mass Effect lore and that of the Final Fantasy X universe.

Tomb Raider. Stop laughing :D

Seriously love the series, played the lesser known games too! The gameboy colour games, java cell phone games, and read the official tie in novels. At one point I was a talking walkthrough (back in the PS1 days) knowing the levels off by heart. Super pumped that Tomb Raider is back now!

I am quite the fan of the AC game franchise (except AC3 was a bit of a letdown), are the books and/or comics any good?

I really enjoyed the 'real' comics: the chain and the fall. The time period was interesting and i just loved the story. You also have a semi-canon french comic. But those i didn't like as much . But you should give the real ones a shot if you love AC lore

the books are okay , but most of them just are retellings of the games. so I believe you don't really need to read them
