I know a ton about Pokémon; throughout elementary, middle and high school, I was basically the go-to guy for Pokémon knowledge and advice. I know every Pokémon's name, type, generation introduced, appearance, weaknesses and resistances, abilities, best moves and stats (though sadly only generally; I could only give estimates as to the base stat number). I also know, for the most part, the best Pokémon to go through a given game are based on factors such as availability, stats and movepool, though I sometimes forgo this knowledge for the sake of novelty; I used Dunsparce in my party in Black 2 version, and while I think it's awesome, it's sadly not a great Pokémon. Only time will tell if I retain that status in university.

EDIT: I can also judge the general worth of a Pokémon species at a glance given its type, stats, movepool and abilities to a fair-to-good degree of accuracy.

Myst. I can recount the gist of D'ni history from their fleeing Gartenay to Atrus finding Terahnee and shacking away in Releeshahn - to the point where some of my relatives who consider themselves as serious point-and-clickers seriously wonder where I get all this stuff.

Just about the only things I haven't tried is attending a Mysterium convention or actually bothering to learn D'ni. I started and stopped with "Shorah!", and that was it for me.
Y U NO RESPOND TO MY TOPIC? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.822680-After-8-Years-Should-We-Bring-Myst-Back#19899883]

OP: Halo (Have every game in my collection except Wars which I don't really count as part of the series since it wasn't made by Bungie at the time) and Unreal Tournament.

I'm going to continue the trend and say Halo and Pokemon.

I can name virtually every character in the Halo universe, the alpha numeric designations of most of the weapons and vehicles, a large majority of the battles that took place and I have a special soft spot for the political and military lore of the Covenant.

I can also name every pokemon that currently exists (barring those new Gen VI ones, haven't been keeping up) and where virtually all of them spawn in each region. I guess I also know a lot of the flavour text in the dexes, but not nearly close to all of them.

The there's all those theories like Mew and Ditto being offshoots of the same cloning process, Voltorb being a pokeball posessed by a Haunter, Cubone evolving into Kangaskhan, Caterpie and Venonat getting switched evolutionary forms (Butterfree with Venonat, Venomoth with Caterpie + Metapod), the three legendary dogs were originally a Flareon, Vaporeon and Jolteon, Genosect is actually a cybernetic Kabutops, lots of fun stuff really.

Halo. Anything Halo related in a heartbeat. I loved the shit out of the original trilogy, and then also got into reading the books (Which have a much better story and set of characters than the games, although I was slightly miffed that Nylund's characters were mostly shafted in favour for Traviss' ones (Not to mention that BS six year gap between the cliffhanger ending of Onyx and release of Glasslands), even though her books are just as amazing). I was somewhat annoyed that Microsoft chose to turn the new games into a constant series instead of a flat trilogy, but what ev's. I'm all for more Halo.

A friend of mine is literally a walking encyclopedia of Halo knowledge...to the point that an author that wrote one of the Halo books apparently got a bunch of stuff wrong and it sent him into a rage. How pissed was he? He wrote a 20 page essay and mailed it to the author.

As for me, I like to think my knowledge of the Mass Effect series is pretty extensive...god knows I've pour countless hours into that series.

I might not know every single minute statistic and levelset and stat of every pokemon by memory, but that's more a measure of just how much raw data is in the franchise than my knowledge of it. Certainly I'd say I know enough of it to be considered an encyclopedia on the matter by less educated folk (not meant as an insult to non-pokemaniacs, I swear).

After Pokemon, Halo's probably a somewhat-distant second - I've been playing the games for years, and read most of the books, but my knowledge isn't nearly as instinctive or as vast as Pokemon...and I don't know much of anything about multiplayer in games between Combat Evolved and 4 (the only ones that I've multiplayered extensively). After that, the drop-off is pretty steep, down to games I've just played to know the mechanics well enough and that's it.

...and wow, I seem to be following the trend, don't I?

Probably Pokemon. I know more about it than most people. The main reason I want to punch people in the face when they quote something from it that's false.

Y'all welcome in anytime, I've been struggling to keep this forum game alive for a while now.

I only knew about Mew + Ditto and Cubone + Kangaskhan, but thinking about the others for a sec they make so much sense.

Probably Morrowind, Ratchet and Clank, and maybe Diablo.

This is mostly constrained to gameplay and mechanics, not lore.

Metal Gear Solid.

Idk if this breaks forum rules about self-promotion, but if you'd like proof of that: http://hapticfeedbackgames.blogspot.com/2013/07/free-will-and-defiance-postmodern.html

I'm gonna say Kingdom Hearts. Played all the games, understood all the stories, know most, if not all, the lore and back story. The only thing I'm not too familiar with are the interviews with Nomura, but I have a cheat sheet for that.
Could you explain to me then how and when will they finally get over Xehanort? They seem to rewrite the rules of the KH universe with every new game they make. First we have "Somebodies" turning into Heartless... then it turns out once you defeat a Heartless, a Nobody comes out... then once you defeat that too, apparently they turn back into Somebodies... is it never over? Do they just keep making games like Final Fantasy to the point it becomes a dead horse, or is there an actual end plotted?
First of all, you're wrong. A Nobody is created when someone with a strong heart turns into a Heartless, not when a Heartless is defeated (they're created at the same time: the Heartless is the heart covered in Darkness, while the Nobody is the empty body left behind). Somebodies are just regular people. When both the Heartless and Nobody of a particular person are defeated, they turn back to their regular self (Somebody, as you say). But they can still die. Turning into a Heartless doesn't mean you die, it just mean you've taken over by Darkness. And KH3 will be the end of the Xehanort saga, with KH4 starting of a new arc with new villains and all... unless no-one's interested in more KH games after 3.

That would be Halo most definitely. I know a hell of a lot, probably because I was on Halo Fanon for a few years with their "Non-Canon Policy" pretty much forcing you to read up, not that reading it up or playing to 'read' it up was a bad thing.

Of course if you ask me about 343 Industries' "Canon" I will be mostly in the dark because 343 has been just an atrocity to the series canon wise and I refuse to read up on all of it. They either ruin everything that was good (the Forerunner and pretty much most of the "pre-game" lore), or they just make terrible lore beyond the time space of Halo: Legends which is pretty fucking embarrassing).

If there was a job as a D'ni historian, I'd have it.

Not to mention the ability they have to Link to all possible worlds makes it easy to have it co-exist with any other setting or lore.

I know way too much about Warhammer 40k (with this post a Black Ship of the Inquistion has been dispatched to deal with me
From what I read the Black Ships are only to capture and transport Psykers, or are you referring in general that typically the Holy Inquisitors usually choose black painted ships for transport? Yeah I know more than I admit I should about WH40k and Warhammer fantasy lol. Second is Star Wars and then the Command and Conquer universe.

Metal Gear Solid, Half-Life/Portal and Assassin's Creed would probably be mine. I've got a good memory, so I can basically play those games in my head and I've been quite interested in the backstories and ingame lore.

Prince of Persia for me. It's the game I grew up with, the one that got me into gaming in the first place; one that I've replayed countless times in 3 different languages, even played several different versions of the same games.

I'm gonna go ahead and be very original: I know quite a bit about pokemon, but I know pretty much everything about Halo, altough I havent read every book. YET. I also know more about the Lord of the Rings than most people, if that counts.

Being a pokémon master I would say that I know much more than the average bear about it, in terms of EV/IV/Lore/etc

Also I am a massive FF fan, so I would know much of the background plot sequences/lore about all the FF games up until FFX-2.

If you count any LOTR game, saying as I would know the entire history of Ea etc, languages, valar, character plots and whatever.
