Streets of rage

First game that i got excited to play... Maybe because i had a snes and had to go to my friends to play it. We were very determined to finish it. At five years old and with no way to save the game this proved very difficult.
A lot of hours lost but none of them wasted :)

I play since the 80's but I started to be more hardcore either with Warcraft: Orcs and Humans or Ultima VIII: Pagan.

Super Mario World. I knew I was a gamer once I knew how to find secrets on my own, beat ghost houses and fortresses and castles, and pick the best path through Bowser's castle...then I knew I was a gamer.

It started so innocently with the SNES and smash brothers, mario and star force (is it? or star fox something like that) then along came Total Annihilation and then MGS, by this point gaming was my main hobby and pretty much still is

The original Legend of Zelda. I still remember playing that game with my parents on the NES way back when I was but a kid.

The game that got me interested in gameing was either Super Mario 64, or Legend or Zelda Majoras Mask, But the game that made ME a gamer? That would have to be the original Paper Mario

Pokemon Yellow, I must have played that a hundred times back in 1st grade. Though as I look back I can't belive the games initially terrible design, who the hell gives you an electric pokemon and your first gym guy's pokemon are immune to electricity! Though that may have just made me more interested due to the challenge.

Altered Beast, Sonic, and/or Golden Axe. My parents put a controller into my hands before I could remember so I grew up with gaming. When I realized I was a gamer was probably kindergarten when I would talk about games and no one had a clue what I was talking about. Sadly it's still like that today since none of my friends play games.

I am one of the few gamers who has never play the classic Nintendo games. The only Nintendo console I have are my Gameboys.

I've had games since atari was out but I'd have to say need for speed II: SE got me hooked hopelessly on gaming and gran turismo 1.

Well, first when I was little, I had my chunk of PS1. I faintly remember playing random games on that.

Then I had my sleek new PS2. Which I can remember mostly playing platformers on (Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank).

Then, with my PS3, I think I became officially a gamer. The first game I played on that was Assassin's Creed, after which I started talking on internet forums and whatnot. Then of course came multiple Battlefields and Callings of Duties and so on and so forth.

So, yeah. Ubisoft pushed me into being a full-fledged gamer.

Don't judge.

I think the game that truly made me a gamer was Battletanx Global Assault. I walked in while my father was playing it, he handed me a controller, and in seconds I had his M1A1 begging for mercy under the might of my mototank.

Can't exactly remember which game it was.
Must have been a game on the C64 in the mid-eighties, when I was about 5-6 yers old.

Since then I was fascinated by videogames, but as a child was more into sports like swimming, cycling, martial arts and football.
And no, I won't call it soccer, just because some americans are too scared to play real rugby.
-sorry for the rant back to OT:

But the game that made me a "real/hardcore" gamer is "Der Patrizier"(released as "The Patrician" in english) around '94.
I spent almost all of the easter holidays(two weeks off from school in germany) just playing that game. And realized I had more fun gaming, than swimming laps or running across a field.
The only thing that survived is my interest in martial arts...
...playing Tekken 3 until I had blisters on both of my thumbs ;-)

First console game was Super Mario 64, which I played at the hospital when I broke my arm, ~late nineties. Though I should say I was a PC gamer beforehand, largely due to Chips Challenge.
