Super Mario Land when I was 2 years old. (Not kidding, 2 friggin years old) Never got past the second level, but I'll be damned if it wasn't fun as hell. I loved my Gameboy Pocket.

What brought me into console gaming? Well, I enjoyed the good old SNES/N64 games we had, but I didn't get into gaming as a culture until Jak & Daxter on the PS2.

Combat and Video Olympics were my gateway drug into gaming. I played those games for hours on end. I'll never forget being five years old and my dad bringing in an Atari VCS when he came home from work on Valentine's Day. Me, him and my mom stayed up all night taking turns playing each other in Combat and then rushing to Walmart when they opened the next day to get another game. I still think it was cool that my parents loet me stay home from school because we got an Atari.

The original Prince of Persia Sidescroller and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I think, especially in the case of the latter, I speak for many Escapists in saying that LoZ:OoT was a huge milestone in becoming a gamer.

I was born a gamer. Videogames were always an interest of mine. They mattered some how. All of the games that I loved and obsessed over as a kid and young adult, I had because I was already really, really into games. I was shaped by Zelda, Contra, TLK, STH2-Spinball, Primal Rage, Ecco, Nightmare Creatures and FFVI/VII/VIII though. I'm sure my parents were waiting for me to grow out of them, like my brother did. He was the reason I was born into a house with consoles. Still haven't grown out of the games though and it doesn't look likely at this point. It's kind of going the other way...

Freelancer because it was the first game I replayed over fifty times and Super Smash Bros Melee as it was the first game I could demonstratively pwn my friends in.

Definitely the Legend of Zelda. I had played Super Mario Bros. titles and Metroid, but then I played Zelda and I became obsessed with it. I didn't even find the second level until I turned 7.

This was the first game I've ever beaten. It made me excited. Duke Nukem on WINDOWS 3.1 BABY.

Well, my older brother and mother are gamers, so I was practically born one. My first game was Super Mario World on the SNES.

Pokemon Crystal. My dad bought a Gameboy color and it came with it. I wouldn't put it down...that game taught me how to read better.

First game was Sonic on the Master System, I think. And Outrun Europa. Outrun was amazing.

One of the best things about Duke Nukem 3D was getting the earlier Dukes packaged along with it. It was actually *surprisingly* decent.
