Hmmm... In 1981 (I was 3) my uncle brought an arcade machine home from work, and I spent hours over there every weekend playing Pong against my cousin.

My very first game was Donkey Kong on the NES, we also had Super Mario bros., Balloon Fighter (or something) and Ice Climber.
Later, I got an Amiga, literally a giant keyboard with a floppy drive. Thanks to a friend of my dad´s, I had a hundred games for it.
My first game on an actual PC (386) was Might and Magic 3. It´s the oldest of my games that I still love, and play from time to time.

My friends got an NES when we were in kindergarten together in 1987. We endlessly played Super Mario Brothers, Tetris and some Duck Tales game. In 1988 I got a Sega Master System and played Alex Kidd in Miracle World, only actually owning two other games which were kind of.. horrible. In the meantime friends of mine went through the Atari 2600, Sega Mega Drive and Super NES, so I played my fair share of Asteroids, Sonic and Mario Kart.

I didn't start regularly using computers until the 90's, playing Gunship 2000 and Stealth fighter F117-A on my uncle's PC, along with Duke Nukem and classic Apogee shmup Major Stryker. In 1994 I was introduced to Doom and Doom 2 by my father's room mate, and later got my own computer when starting high school in 1995. I played a bunch of games throughout high school, most of which were pirated because I had friends with cable internet and CD burners.

I started legitimately buying games when I got my first job in 1997, but by then I had my own internet connection at home and gaming fell by the wayside as I discovered the wonders of IRC and porn (seriously, what else was there for teenagers on the internet in 1997?).

I bought a PS2 in 2002 and really haven't looked back at PC gaming since.

July 19, 1991.

I remember one of my first games being that Dizzy game... can't remember the system but it was rather confusing.
Of course I also remember playing Doom on my Windows 3.1 OS...
First game I remember playing though was a little game called 'Beneath the Steel Sky'
Really an amazing game I would play it again now if I had it.

Lets see... Probably some arcade game like Pacman or perhaps it was my cousins pong...

The first game I played for real was Ghost 'n Goblins for the C64. The first game I owned was very likely Wings for the Amiga 500. (ahhh the times)

18 here.... i've been playing games since god knows when... i forget but i do remember a few epic games of my past time that i know glued me into gaming for life..

first off i remember as a little lad playing Mortal Kombat on the Genesis (not on SNES, SNES version had no blood in it) I was maybe 6 and i loved facing off agianst my friends in it.

Golden Eye and Perfect Dark of the 64 were a big part of my gaming childhood.

I'm 20, and my first game was Alex Kidd, man that game was amazing, but hard near the end. Amongst that was transbot, The Ninja, and a mess of other games on the master system. But could you believe I actually got an amstrad AFTER i got a master system? I was only little, i could care less, it was just more gamez for moi!

By the by, can anyone actually remember the final stage of Alex kidd (i doubt it) where you are in the castle, and you have this huge jump, and spikes on the ceiling, and if you overshot the jump, you hit the spikes, and if you didn't jump far enough, you hit the spikes below? yeah, as a boy, I was pissed when that happened, I had one life left.

I will never forget it. Ever. I can proudly say that my first game, regardless of being a 1992er, was an original Game & Watch, in the original format (the one that looked like a DS). It belonged to my brother, and then it passed down the bloodline. AND I SWEAR IT WILL BE MY SON'S IF I EVER OVERCOME MY GEEKINESS AND FAVOUR GIRLS OVER GAMES!!!
As if that'll ever happen!!!

It was one of two games... I can't really remember which I got first. It was either Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for the NES, or Kirby's Dreamland for the GB. My grandmother bought me a NES when I was young, like 3 (20 now) I think? I got my first Gameboy when my father won it in a Ducks Unlimited Raffle, lmao... it came with Kirby's Dreamland... it was one of those two, just not sure of the timeline.

Commodore C64. God bless.

I started out back on the C64 when you had like a dozen games on a single disc so it would be impossible to name a single one but the one that I have the most lasting impressions of are Dig Dug, Forbidden Forest and Falcon Patrol.

And if you, like me, can remember these titles and thus have a long history of gaming, I'm curious. What is your taste today? Because since I've personally have come such a long way I consider myself as having a very refined taste in games these days.

Revolution, the original developers, have released the game as freeware, which was pretty awesome of them, and it's playable using SCUMMVM. You can download it at http://www.revolution.co.uk .

EDIT: Scratch that, it's downloadable from http://www.scummvm.org/ .

First time I remember ever playing a videogame was New Years Eve 1979 (I was two years old). The game was Combat on my uncles then-new Atari 2600. He had just got it for Christmas and was showing off how good he was at ricocheting his shots at my tank (of course I didn't care, it was hilarious). Everyone else was too busy getting drunk, and I was the only one who gave a shit.

Been givin' a shit since :D
