As an example, Yahtzee just posted his reviews of Castle Crashers and Bionic Commando:Rearmed. While he was disappointed with BC:R, I respect his opinion. I don't think he hates on a game because he has too. I loved the game, but some of the stuff he said about the games flaws I also found to be true. Same with Castle Crashers. One of my favourite games this year, but what he said about losing your character on screen was painfully true.Nazulu post=9.72096.755891 said:I knew everyone is a critic here, but I do agree not all his reviews are going to be funny or as original as his early stuff. However I never expect anything to be good every time, like every band is going to have crap songs and every TV show is going to have crap episodes, its the way of life!Syphonz post=9.72096.755350 said:Yahtzee isn't funny anymore to me. I find his reviews are getting stale and it's basically hating for the sake of hating. And the 15 seconds of 'NOOOO' was worse than the Darth Vader episode 3 'NOOO'.
So maybe cut him some slack, its just one thing extra to look forward to every week. And on the topic of TV shows I am happy to say South Park is starting soon Yaaaay!
So, let me get this straight:Nazulu post=9.72096.755162 said:To me you are the only one bitching here, Yahtzee brings up alot of good points and he is a critic duh! he finds all the flaws and exploits them. I can't believe you only came onto this topic just whine about other peoples opinions, thats just pathetic!
It's amazing that someone can make a statement like this about a CRITIC, who really produces nothing of value other than an opinion, but people are so hard on developers that do the actual work.Nazulu post=9.72096.755891 said:I knew everyone is a critic here, but I do agree not all his reviews are going to be funny or as original as his early stuff. Because this thread is about 'The game you had highest expectations for that let you down', and you coming onto here saying that everyone that has problems with games today should be called the 'Spoiled Generation' kinda makes you an asshole.Jimmyjames post=9.72096.756219 said:So, let me get this straight:
If I come on here to complain about games it's OK. But, if I defend games and complain about Yahtzee it's not OK? Please explain how that double-standard works and why it's pathetic.
you'd be wrong on the 7 years = good bit, its pretty average.titus_barca post=9.72096.755584 said:I get what you're saying about the pacing of the game, but I don't agree regarding the story. I don't know what more you want from the story; the almost complete destruction of humanity and you (Gordon Freeman) spark the true rebellion. It's quite a good study on the way a mythic hero can influence the masses and become more than a normal person. It has believable characters and isn't about how the USA saves the world. The main character isn't a busty feminist or a macho football player, he's an everyday man who does extra ordinary things.
Just those few points puts half life 2 in a separate class compared to other games out there. I've read quite a few books from different genres and times and still enjoyed the HL2 story. Maybe you just went into the game with the wrong mindset.
I haven't read Harry Potter, is it good? I'm sure a book which took 7 years to write should be good.
Since Hellgate:London was the first game in ages that I had no expectations for, I was pleasantly surprised.deadplayer post=9.72096.758469 said:Hellgate: London
DNF is the game with the lowest expectations of all time, so when its awesome it will surprise you in every way!snowplow post=9.72096.762794 said:Oh and probably DNF when it gets released in 7 years
