Worst tutorial was FF8 until I realized we could skip it.

Mass Effect, because it didn't have one, and the combat can just become another run 'n' gun shooter if you don't bother to teach yourself.
I realized I could use my bionic powers right after the Citadel... Thanks obvious missing tutorial...

First I have to give a nice shout to Bruce Campbell. His Spiderman 2 tutorial (a random narrator who berates you for doing things your way, or wanting to do things "fast") was just awesome.
Of the three games, I liked Spider-man 3 best, but all three Spidey movies have tutorials narrated by Bruce Campbell. They are so entertaining, that alone is worth a rental.

Best: Fallout 3. I enjoyed going through the characters childhood and learning the basic plot throughout the tutorial process.

Worst: Prototype. Suddenly being dropped into a full on zombie vs millitary killfest as the game pauses every now and then to tell you what button does what didnt realy work for me.

And any Call of duty game has a great tutorial by default. and they usualy put some great lines in their too.

"Today we?re going on a secret mission to get coffee and donuts, the only problem is the Germans drank all the coffee and ate all the donuts. So now were gonna go kick their asses" -Call of duty 3

Not sure if it really counts, but the 'tutorial' for the original Modern Warfare, where you had to take the CQB Test for Captain Price had something terribly lame about it.

The actual thing was good, but right before you take it, I believe Price says something along the lines of Gaz holding the record at 17 or 19 seconds.

FUCK HIM!

I don't know if it's me, but my best run is 24 seconds. Anything else would call for Emprah endorsed performances! XP

Uncharted 2's was pretty awesome - the game JUST started and you're already hanging by a train dangling over a cliff, just inches away from death.... and THIS is the setting in which they teach you how to play the game. That's fucking sweet.

Best tutorial- Either Disgaea or Disgaea 2, because it explains the game well while being humorous.

Worst- Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI, because it has none and is VERY confusing to just leap into.

I liked the one for Dirge Of Cerberus.

It was a complete different set of levels and wasnt mandatory, but you play as Vincent beofre he turned so hes still a Human going through it.

I realized I haven't played a football game in ages (Madden 95 on Super Nintendo if my memory is correct) so I picked up Madden 10. It didn't teach a single thing about audibles, motions, coverages, the right stick, etc... I can figure out how to call hike and pass the ball quickly on my own... the hard memorization shit is what I need listed.

.Hack GU's was pretty cool it had some more experienced players take your new character out adventuring to teach him the ropes. The mission even had a good twist at the end.

Halo 3: ODST has the most obnoxious tutorials, because it makes you do them every single fucking time you play. I realise that they're kind of integrated into the stories but it's annoying to have to learn how to use your VISR when you've already beaten the game three times.

Kingdom Hearts II has the longest tutorial ever! It gives me homicidal thoughts about the game designers.
oh my God!!! that tutorial made me go into a coma!!! If they had a 'skip roxas section' option, it would make me want to play through the game again, but I cannot be stuffed dealing with tutorials!!!

On the topic of KH2, I hate gummi-ship stuff. It pisses me off so much I have now established a residence on mars.

Streetfighter IV could use some help in the tutorial department. Seriously one of the more frustrating gaming experiences

Fallout 3's tutorial was great because it managed to successfully integrate the tutorial with the story, and I really liked the vault setting.

The tutorial in Oblivion always felt a bit bland and drawn out to me.

I am finding the Star Trek Online tutorial rather good. Gives a good intro to both space and ground based combat.
