It can block and cut a cow in half, what more do you want?
That assumes that you're fairly fit; the episode of 'Deadliest Warrior's where they showcased that weapon, it was used by a UFC fighter known for his raw punching power.
Her? It was chuck liddell, yes he is known for HIS punching power but he is far from the hardest hitter in the world, I think rampage Jackson hits harder due to Forrest griffin saying every punch, that hit him from rampage, hurt.
That is beside the point, it is still possible to do even if you hit half as hard as chuck since that blade wasn't exactly blunt.
Yeah, I caught and edited that bit; it was pre-caffeine this morning.
I still think that to hit effectively (read: damagingly) with that weapon, you would actually need to be relatively fit, and have good (if not excellent) body mechanics in your strikes. The fighting I do has shown me exactly how much power is robbed from a 1h sword blow, just by not fulling rotating from the hips when throwing the shot.
I'll try to explain it a little better, although please, bear with me if the explanation seems kind of simplistic; I'm not trying to be condescending, honestly. If you stand with your feet at shoulder-width and neither advanced, and throw a punch JUST from the shoulder, you're only drawing power from the muscles in your shoulder and arm, and unless you've got immense explosive power and an equal measure of strength, you're not going to do a lot of actual damage to your target.
However, if you're in a foot-forward stance, and coil slightly away from your target and then uncoil, allowing the power transfer to begin in your back foot and driving upwards and rotating through your entire body, you're going to hit magnitudes harder. Now if you have to add a large bronze glove with a sharpened blade at the end, it going to require modifications in your stance, balance, rotation and extension to effectively use the 'business end' of the weapon, and your balance is going to be impacted just carrying it, let alone punching with it. I'm absolutely certain that it's not anywhere near as simple as Chuck Lidell made it look, but I also know that jabbing with a knife isn't really effective, either. That weapon isn't going to work well unless you're committing to the punch, which is potentially going to leave you wide open, without even considering your recovery. I also know that trying to slash with the end of a 4lbs+ weapon doesn't do all that much damage, so we can mostly rule that out, since that weapon is designed to allow the mass to travel and transfer in a punching and stabbing motion, rather that a slashing and clubbing motion.
Admittedly, IF you hit, I wouldn't expect the fight to go on very much longer, unless their going to go for Gotterdamerrung, and stab the shit out of you while you've got the blade burid in them.
