You saw what chuck did to that cow with the Cetus, it would be about the same with a shortened scissor, your punches would be faster, more powerful (due to less surface area on the blade) and more deadly 'cos it can slide through flash like a hot knife through butter.

Machida's fighting style means he takes next to no damage yet his strikes have knocked out opponents such as Rashad Evans who knocked out chuck.
Now you're almost talking about creating a new weapon based on the scissor-cestus, which combines the mass of it with a dagger-style blade. Assuming that's what you're talking about, yes, it'd be potentially quite deadly, but you still have to close with your opponent. That's why trident and net appears to have been a common match-up for a cestus-equipped gladiator, because in that sort of match, it really would be about the more skilled fighter.

I'm not saying it's not feasible, but there are definitely counter-tactics.

aka a falchion

Greatswords are nice and big and one good slash and you win, but because they are big they can be slow and they dont have the capability to parry stabs very well if you have just swung. i think I'd be skilled enough with the greatsword but maybe lean towards a bastard sword because it is lighter and smaller.

Despite what you see in movies and video games dodging is rarely a viable strategy, unless you are stepping back outside of range, which makes that little knife/katana/etc you are holding useless. Armor and shields became the norm for a reason. Against an unknown opponent in an unknown area, I would say do as the Romans do. Spear, shield, sword and armored chest piece.
This guy knows what's going on. The Romans could take on practically anyone

I would choose a flailing weapon. Like this, only duel wield.

You would attempt to dual wield a chainscythe?

And after you had bashed your own head in, what would be your next move?
Drive a boat on dry land and fall off a cliff, what else would I do?
I can't argue with that kind of logic.

You win this round...

I choose a zweihander, In my country (Holland) we have a hero named Pier Gerlofs Donia or aka Grutte pier wich stands for big worm and well his name was pier. he was 2 meters 15 long and could hold two zweihander (swords wich are so big you need two hands to hold him) one in both hand. Both swords were as long as himself and there weight was 6.6 kilo grams. I choos the zweihander because i'm about 15 centimeters shorter as him and im pretty strong too i can lift 60 kilograms with one hand. So who is ready to fight? BRING IT ON!
I'd take you on.

I'd use two Kodachi. Good luck getting through my defense. Assuming you can swing a greatsword fast enough to hit me in the first place.

Also, although Piers Gerlofs Donia may have been strong enough to hold one greatsword in each hand, there is no official record of him wielding 2 at once. He is recorded beheading multiple people in one swing with them though. Which is more impressive in my book.
Sorry, you're right. He used only one sword, still he was awesome. I would like to take your challenge, but since i can't get a zweihander legally and you probably live somewhere i can't get to on my bike, i think we could better let this rest. :p
Indeed. But you can't get one legally? That really sucks.

A.K.A. a falchion.
Actually, no, a falchion is a single-handed curved sword, much like your traditional shamshir or talwar, though perhaps a closer analogue would be the Turkish executioner's kilij, given the general broadness of the blade. This here's my favorite picture of a falchion by far.

Used in one hand, usually paired with a shield.
This is closer to what I was referring to.

While it can be wielded in one hand, more control is granted if both hands are used, much like a bastard (hand-and-a-half) sword.

Well weapons are illegal in Holland, there are even cases where a man just had a screwdriver in the dashboard cabinet of his car and got a fine for illegal posession of a weapon.

I would use a military entrenching tool (or flick spade), sharpened for preference. That or a bricks in a hessian sack.

I'd go with a bastard sword/hand and a half sword. Relatively easy to use with either one or both hands, and I have trained using a dulled version of it.

the Kanabô, it's one of the heaviest melee weapon known to man. In fact it's mostly considered a mythological weapon because so few people can actually carry it.

On second thought, a monofilament whip would be best. You can't dodge that which you can't see, you can't block that which cuts through everything. Monomolecular wire FTW.

There is one additional feature I would have added (I went for longsword or short spear in a post waaaay back in this thread). Poison. Not unfeasible really, you'd just leave your weapon (except hilt/shaft) in a latrine overnight = blood poisoning. One scratch, and your opponent is in trouble if you're on a battlefield, and even if he/she/it/they get to a doctor quickly, amputation might be necessary.
What, sore loser, me?
