I would go hunting all the giant arachnids with a maniacal glee to my collection. Alive, or course. A giant female Poecilotheria metallica... *Drool

And some giant Grammostolas would be nice too. And jumping spiders! I want giant jumping spiders!

What aboot my let physics kill them plan? Without any internal support the exoskeleton would cause them to crush themselves if they were to reach threat to humans size.
As soon as you use the word 'physics' my knowledge of absolutely anything going on in this conversation falls off a cliff so I can't comment on this plan :p

I'd join the giant arthropods because they're my favorite fictional characters.
Tyranids, Zerg, monsters from Dead Space...
Its funny how nearly no one knows the one that probably started all of the giant bugs in the field of war. And the Space Marine. And the Terran Federation.

STARSHIP TROOPERS: THE NOVEL

OT: Go Raid on them! Or just try and get my hands on as many anti-bug, spider etc sprays and weapons as possible.
I knew that, but they're not my favorite alien bugs. Also, since they aren't an infectious bug virus, I couldn't convert to their side as well.
It wasn't directed at you only, but to everyone else. Good to see an explanation though. And they are infectious in another way.

Ah! Good thread. I would build myself a flamethrower, because it's very hard to kill flying/leaping creatures with anything else. If possible, I would move to a super cold, snowy spot relatively nearby (Mt. Rainier would be excellent). Let's just hope whatever biological anomaly made them gigantic didn't also make them warm-blooded. Additionally, I'd find myself a nine-pound hammer for close combat. Bladed weapons wouldn't do much good against a thick carapace, but cracking the exoskeleton in a few places could cause internal bleeding--many insects don't have blood vessels, instead their blood just sloshes around in them. Plus, it's a giant hammer. A useful tool to have about, whether boarding up windows or splattering gimondous arthropods.

One would assume that evolutionary mutations solved that problem, else we wouldn't have to worry about them in the first place. Perhaps a reinforced exoskeleton, tougher muscles, or even a rudimentary endoskeleton?

Well, apparently unless some bizarre innard mutation is included in the deal we should be fine. i read somewhere that bugs and spders have primitive "book" lungs, which wouldn't work with our atmospheric pressure if they got scaled up. Yay for science

now i think about it, what the hell kind of a book would have had that in it? True though

Only one thing to do: Garb a bunch of over-sized grills, hundreds of bottles of barbecue sauce, and put Plan Zimmerman into action.

They don't *BELCH* stand a chance!

I'd go way up north where it's too cold for them.

EDIT: Oh, giant... I don't know. Since their fictional and couldn't really exist I need a movie about it where they discover the giant bugs' weaknesses.
