I can sympathize with this child. When I was just 10, I had to steal from the store on the corner just to eat. And every day I came home to my father beating me. My mother was always so drunk she never did anything about it. I finally ran away when I was 15. Never went back. It's really sad what parents now a days are. I hope the child is okay, and I wish for her mother to get raped to death.
Wow. I must say, it's an interesting study in feral children. Worse than feral, I think. Just, complete neglect and lack of exposure to...well, anything. Shows that humans aren't much without being raised.
I don't get what's up with the mother though. At first I thought she must be either insane/severely retarded and incapable of raising children, or criminally neglectful or possibly even sadistic. But in the interview at the end she seems like a normal fucking person. Sure she's apparently retarded or almost so, but still... I don't see how someone as normal as that could have possibly let the situation get that bad.
And I don't see how anyone could look at that situation and give the woman such a mild punishment. I would have had her killed just for being completely incapable of being a human being. Or atleast throw her in prison. How can someone just put her on probation and send her away after what she did?

Is it bad that the article didn't surprise me or faze me at all? Sure this was fucked up and the mother should be put to death (along with those SS people who saw her covered in feces and let her stay there.) but it didn't surprise me.
Such a sad story... even with a somewhat happy ending, it still gives you a bad feeling in the stomach.
