Kayla enjoyed the ride in the classy two-seater. It was a quality car, the kind of car that would look good in her driveway someday. She was conscious not to accidentally do something to the car that would render it inoperable, and she was successful. Unfortunately, this effort meant there would be no further grilling on Kara and her methods until they arrived.
As the two stepped out of roadster, Kayla was unimpressed with the new training ground. "This place is a worse dump than the apartment complex."
"It might look unappealing, but no-one will bat an eyelid if one of you destroys a wall. These warehouses have been run-down for years by the look of 'em," Kara noted as she passed Kayla a piece of the torn-apart shelves the student had brought with her. "As much as I disagree with the Brightfields kid's priorities, he might have had a point about coming here." She led the way over to Lisette's car, where the others were gradually getting out.
The owner of the aforementioned car was looking back and forth down the street, uncertainty still at the forefront of her mind. On the other side, Dominic stretched out of the car as Lisette did. He chuckled at the clear skittishness that accompanied her unsure opinions.
"We'll be fine as long as we're traveling in a group. Just, try not to make yourself look too expensive." He smirked as he scanned the area. Dom felt she was justified in the way she felt, their surroundings were massively deteriorating around the edges, left to rot by the owners that first created the now-abandoned buildings. "...Though if I knew we were gonna be on this side of town, I would've put on something other than a t-shirt and crocs." He added, stepping towards the closest building. A big, dingy establishment, with the only windows looking to line the top of the walls. No homeless people lurking about, either. Dominic tried for the nearest door. He expected it to be locked, and his suspicions proved true as the door barely budged.
Kayla took her pieces of junk and dragged them behind her, although it was now obvious that she needed not bother lugging them around. The remnants of the industrial complex that surrounded the warehouse would have provided ample fodder to test her powers on. "I would have gotten my tetanus shots in advance. Hopefully I don't have to worry about it. So what are we doing then? Waiting out here to get mugged, or going inside somewhere to get mugged?"
"Well, this door's locked." Dominic swiveled to tell the girl. "So we can either spread out and look for another point of entry, or you can just help yourself to this lock. Like, just go nuts on this door...I think. I'm not entirely sure I know how your powers work." He replied. Kayla looked at him kind of funny, mostly because picking locks was a facet of her powers that she hadn't really considered. She knew they could be destructive, but completely overlooked destructive for a positive note. At least for herself.
She moved to the door, giving it a once over before squatting down in front of the lock. It wasn't far to go down, but still it helped see how rusted a machine she was dealing with and it was good for show. She stood back up and brought one of her hands up, pointing her index finger at the lock, attempting to impose her will on it. A vibration could be heard as the door started to shake. A bit of rust was shaken off as Kayla tried to force the door open. After 8 seconds, the door finally fell backwards. The lock intact, but the hinges having flown off over the heads of the group. The beaten barricade landed with a thud inside the empty warehouse.
"Not what I was going for, but whatever."
"Well, I imagine you are all still learning the basics of your abilities. But hey, a result is a result. If I may..." Kara slipped past the assembled students and promptly vanished. Quiet footsteps soon followed as she entered the abandoned building.
Soon a click from a switch was heard, followed by belaboured flickering of overhead lighting. Kara shimmered back into view. "I'm surprised the place still has power. It's empty, though, so there won't be anything lying in wait. Come on in."
"I don't suppose there's a garage-type door or something that isn't sealed shut with rust?" Lisette queried once everyone was inside. "It's just, I don't want to leave my car outside..."
"Over here. The rest of you can get started on some practice, if you want," Kara told the rest of the group before beckoning Lisette over to a much larger door designed for vehicles. Dom stepped in, walking over the entrance Kayla blew down. "We should probably do something about this..." To the best of his strength, he managed to pick the door back up, and prop it up on a wall close to the threshold. "You gonna seal us back in? Or like, modify our entrance or something? Can't risk an accidental audience." He asked the metal bender, dusting off his hands on his shorts. "It should be fine enough for now," Kayla answered. "Still a couple people left to arrive, right?" She looked around the warehouse but like Kara said, it was pretty barren. "It's not like we're going to have much to worry about in the place. But once they get here, I'm sure we can do something. Maybe some ice or something so we can get back out."
"Heh, a revolving ice door." Dom quipped a loose thought after her suggestion.
