Chris stepped out of the car with everyone else who'd been in the one she entered, and walked up to the warehouse. Staying back a bit, she watched Kayla open the door to it, apparently not the way she intended but it would get them inside, at least. She went in with the others and took a look around. Pretty big, which meant plenty of room for everyone to practice their own powers. Not that there seemed to be all that many rocks lying about for her to practice with.

Chris turned around when Izzy announced her presence, seeing both her and Marcus there. "So did anyone notice any celebrity stalkers on the way here, or are we free to try out our powers in an actual secluded area?" Marcus asked them. "I didn't see anyone follow us." Chris answered him before continuing her look around for something she could use to practice her powers.

"That might've been a rhetorical, Chris." Dominic called from ahead, voice bouncing off of the dingy, dusty walls. Curiosity getting the best of him, he meandered ahead, strolling towards some of the abandoned machinery. He dragged a finger across what resembled a small conveyor belt, leading up to to the sole loading dock of the establishment. A copious amount of grime and dust accumulated on his tip as a result. "...Just to reestablish the fact that this place has been indeed deserted for an extended amount of time. Yup." He thought, cleaning his hands of the muck.

"Alright, so. Ghost. When you said "practice", were you implying we start something a little more organized, like some sparring matches or something, or can we go back to just...fuckin' around to see what happens? Should I like, climb up to the scaffolding and jump off to see if I could withstand it?" Dominic addressed the woman.

"Well, I wouldn't condone that. You're still learning control over your powers like everyone else," Kara answered Dominic, having assisted Lisette with the door for vehicle access. "Get one of your friends to hit you with something. They'll need experience practicing on other people, if Detective Sergeant Karell's theories on that Nefarious guy are anything to go by."

"Theories?" Lisette joined the conversation, brushing her hands free of rust and grime from shifting the door.

"I spoke with him a few days ago. A fresh set of eyes on the Goldmar U case. Clearly he has some form of agenda. He wants to be seen, otherwise he wouldn't have given a face and a name." Kara began to pace back and forth as she spoke. "If I remember correctly, that means there could be several different personality traits attributed to him. Dramatics, megalomania... he's not insane, though, Karell determined that much. Nefarious has the resources and the knowhow to build that weapon, and the others that we saw on that footage we got from the Brightfields kid. He'll have more tricks up his sleeve."

"Especially since he's got a pack of followers at his disposal..." Lisette grimaced.

"There's also his henchmen to consider, yes. You need to get your abilities under control quickly, all of you. If he's planning to attack again, I can't be around to defend everyone. I have my own objectives after today."

Protecting ourselves... I guess there isn't much of a choice in this matter. "Right. Back to work... in a sense." Lisette brushed some of the dust from the floor with one foot before taking a seat on the concrete, setting up her water supplies and freezing a small amount in cupped hands. So how can I make this into a weapon of my own... a sharp edge? The handful of ice shifted and tapered to a point, resulting in raised eyebrows.

Shortly after entering the warehouse Noel had gone off on her own, curious to see what limits her power had. Despite the fact that they were all worried about another attack, Noel didn't want to rush herself. If Chris could cause actual earthquakes by accident there was no telling what kind of destructive force Noel was capable of if she wasn't careful. Fire was, by its very nature, a volatile thing.

Starting small, Noel collected an assortment of metal objects that had been scattered around the warehouse. One-by-one she took them into her hands and watched as they softened and melted through her finger, "God damn." She muttered. To melt through iron like that... she was fucking hot!

"Alright, so. Ghost. When you said "practice", were you implying we start something a little more organized, like some sparring matches or something, or can we go back to just...fuckin' around to see what happens? Should I like, climb up to the scaffolding and jump off to see if I could withstand it?"

Noel perked up, neglecting her little test for long enough to hear Dom and Kara's exchange. Picking up a lead pipe, Noel waved it in the air to get Dom's attention, "I'd help if I could, but do you think you could survive this?" Seconds later, the pipe turned bright red and began to warp into something that resembled a pool noodle. Noel laughed nervously as it clattered to the floor.

Chris rubbed the back of her head in slight embarrassment when Dom said it might have been a rhetorical. Still unsure what she could use inside the room, she tried the dust around. She focused as much as she could, but the dust only moved with the wind. Slightly disappointed, but not entirely surprised, she thought about what she could do.

She could control rocks. She was able to make earthquakes. And she apparently had some kind of enhanced agility. Perhaps... While she hadn't read many comics or seen a lot of superhero shows, there was one thing she thought she'd seen somewhere before. How to go about it, she thought. Overly dramatic, with a punch to the ground and maybe a yell, or just calm and focused like she'd been doing so far?

Chris opted for overly dramatic. Focusing a bit beforehand, she slammed her fists into the ground, yelling as she did it, and with a loud noise, spikes popped out of the ground in front of her and around her. She stood up and shook her hands a bit. Note to self: Punching concrete hurts.

"Sparring might be a bad idea, at least until we can get these things under better control." Adam stepped forward, having been sticking to the back of their little 'secret lair' as their mysterious helper went on her little spiel. Hell at least it helped to learn more about the freak that did this too them as well as giving Adam a little insight into the detectives that made up the GCPD.

Though it was probably wishful thinking that kept Adam thinking he could still get a job after this. Still, he could dream.

At least the electricity had died down a little, though the metal layer around his skin was still in flux as it crept further up his arms. "Though this stuff feels like it might be able to stand up to a pipe." He mused, looking at the weapon Noel was swinging around with gusto. Of course then it melted into a glowing puddle, hammering home Adam's point about the dangers of sparring.

"Maybe not that stuff though. I dunno, I don't even know what this stuff's made of." He cautiously approached the burning mess of molten metal. "Makes you wonder how we can even handle this kind of stuff, like, shouldn't I be fried from the inside by now?" Adam sent a few bolts arcing from one finger to another just to prove his point. "Holy crap I meant to do that too!" He laughed to himself, unable to keep the surprise in.

"I'd help if I could, but do you think you could survive this?" Noel called out to Dominic, showing off molten metal dripping from between her fingers. Dom replied with a expression that combined intrigue and curiosity, with caution. He also thought the occurrence was a little funny, seeing as he was trying to get her attention earlier, and now she wanted his. "Well, there's only one way to find ou-ahh!" He was interrupted by the sudden attack by Chris. The girl showed such disdain for the concrete floor, that she planted her exasperated fists into it, and caused spikes of the grey stone to sprout up all around her. Cool factor aside, it was safe to assume that Dom was now fully alert. Hesitantly this time, he continued over to Noel and Adam.

"Makes you wonder how we can even handle this kind of stuff, like, shouldn't I be fried from the inside by now?" He overheard as he inched up to the two. "I doubt it. I mean, if my only ability is making sure nothing hurts me, then I'm sure you guys would have the same benefits, even if it's only a more...passive side effect, heh. Or at least, that's what I think." He presented his hypothesis as Adam's hands conjured lasting arcs of electricity. "Granted, I can still feel pain, but it...doesn't last as long anymore. So I got that going for me, I guess."

He looked down at the steadily cooling puddle of metal. He was able to feel the heat radiating from it (and Noel) like ten steps before he reached her. And yet, the temptation to just dunk his hand in was building. He knew he would (eventually) come out of it unscathed, but didn't want to go through the imagery of having to peel his skin off to rid himself of the solidified mineral. Instead, he turned to Noel. "Have you tried breathing fire yet? Or maybe like, throwing fireballs or something? Imagine how cool that would be. I think it'd be pretty hot." He thought on that last line, and groaned. He whipped around, back towards the art student. "Aagh-Chris, I did it again! I think we need to keep a pun jar around, or something."

As the pool of molten metal laid on the floor of the warehouse, Kayla quickly abandoned her plans to mess around with her busted bookshelf and turned her attention to the new plaything. Let's see if I can do anything to that iron with it in a full state of malleability.

As Dom was off to the side making horrific plays on words, Kayla focused on the pool in an attempt to will the material to rise up before it hardened completely. She got her wish as a spire emerged from the liquid iron as the emerging construct faded from glowing red to a dull orange. An artistic side that was never fully realized under the constraints of her academic career took hold, as she brought twin curved horns out to flank the tallest spike. It was getting harder to move the molecules as they became more static, so it didn't rise much higher then the three foot height it had obtained. Kayla got overzealous trying to push it up higher and lifted the solidified spike off the ground before it clattered off the floor.

Kayla looked over at Dom once it was clear that her new creation was not in a state of flux anymore. "Here's an idea. Make another pun and we'll see how fast I can move that thing."

I wonder if... Lisette held up her ice spike and reformed it into a plain sphere, about the size of a tennis ball. Getting back to her feet, but leaving the sphere on the floor, she held out one hand over it and turned her focus to moving the orb. It jumped straight up into her outstretched hand. She promptly threw the sphere at a wall, and flicked her hand in a quick arc while it was in mid-flight. The sphere curved in the air and flew back to her, where she caught it a second time.

"Intriguing. Need to see if it works on more than one though..." Setting down her sphere, Lisette collected more water from her supply and froze it into another orb. Taking both, she tossed them underarm at the same time before pointing her fingers upward. The orbs changed direction at her gesture, curving away from the wall and up to the ceiling... where they collided and shattered.

Darn.

On the upside, it was nice to watch the shards falling for the few seconds they had before they clinked on the floor. A few bounced off Lisette, though she took no heed. When the last pieces had fallen, she looked at the mess and got a new idea.

Her tests of her powers had shown they seemed to respond best when gestures or other motions were involved. Sure, doing it by thought was cool, but Lisette thought it more fun to display her talents via movements. So she raised one arm and brought it round to cross over herself, hand balled into a fist. The pieces picked themselves up and converged, forming a long spear-like construction. Strangely, they didn't merge into one solid object, but instead the shards were separated from each other, a fraction of an inch apart across the whole thing.

Curious if the shape would hold, Lisette tried to throw the spear. She swept her arm out, fist unclenched, and it flew... straight at Noel, Dom and Adam. Lisette panicked, losing her focus, and so the spear fell apart as it flew. It didn't stop the shards' momentum, though.

Marcus had just finished sealing the door in place with some ice, using the reservoir from his borrowed Camelbak, as the others being to practice with their powers. He was listening to the rest of the group as he finished creating a light ice barrier along the edge of the door sealing it off. The door held for the time being and he turned to see the rest of the group?s experiments.

The molten metal that was previously on the ground had caused the cracks on the floor to expand, although that could have also been caused by Chris? ground punching endeavor. Adam made an agreeable notion not spar for the time being, that Marcus had nothing to add to, before turning him into a human tesla ball. Kayla was using Noels work with the metal to morph herself an interesting spire before it cooled off and was raised a bit before clamoring to the ground. Last was Lisette who also hosted an ice manipulation power. She had started to throw and direct ice balls around the room like a telekinetic with a tennis ball.

Marcus noting her ability attempted to recreate it as he shifted the ice from his chest to his forearm enveloping it completely. From his palm he tried to raise a sphere, but a thinning link from his arm persisted until the weight of the ball caused it to break off and fall to the ground. Marcus looked up and sighed as Lisette launched a spear at Noel, Dom, and Adam that dispersed into a large number of fast moving shards.

Marcus? enhanced speed kicked in on reflex, as he crossed the room and got in front of where Noel, Dom, and Adam were standing. The ice on his forearm extended out sideways as he raised his arm in front of himself, creating a shield. Had he had better control of his powers, his shield might have been a wall, or at least large enough to cover the whole he was trying to protect, but instead only the main body of the spear was stopped and several pieces of ice continued past him.

His enhanced speed turned off as he had to focus on absorbing the ice shards into his shield to prevent it from falling apart. As Marcus retracted his shield, so he wouldn?t fall over when he tried to turn around, he asked, ?is everyone back there alright??

"...Well, it could've been worse..." Dom piped up through a nervous chuckle. The few shards of ice Marcus failed to catch had found themselves embedded on Dominic's person, like an express form of acupuncture gone terribly right (or, in this case, left). The ice left more of a numbing sensation than any real pain, accompanied by a chill that ran through his body.

Picking one of the pieces (out) of his cheek, he approached the defensive ice manipulator. "Hey Marcus, what's cooler than being cool?" He quipped, what wounds left by the ice quickly sealing up.

?Not saying corny shit like that?? Marcus retorted back as he watched Dom?s wounds from the ice shards quickly heal up. ?That healing power of yours seems pretty ill though.?

?Liz, do you think you could avoid turning Adam, Dom, and Noel to pincushions?? Marcus half joked after seeing that Dom had taken the clear brunt of the missed shards since Noel?s body heat had melted the rest heading towards Adam and herself.

"I second this!" Dom quickly added, raising and waving a hand like an eager kindergartener.

"I tried. It was rather difficult to aim properly... Maybe less of a sweeping motion next time, and more of a direct push," Lisette mused, losing track for a second. "Um, sorry about that. Shouldn't happen again. In theory."

?Maybe we should just point you towards a corner away from everyone else. We can give you back Dom as a target if he keeps making bad puns. Otherwise I?m not sure that I?ll be able to make a shield again if it wasn?t the ?sweeping motion.?? Marcus said as he tried to produce an ice ball from his hand again only to fail to disconnect the link, like he had before. He gave up and retracted the sphere of ice and instead tried making a wide and flat spike from the top of his wrist, which actually formed to his desire.

?I don?t think I?ll be able to help you figure it out though. My powers can?t get the ice to disconnect from my body. It?s worse than an overly obsessive stalker.? Marcus said as the ice around his arm dropped to the floor and refused to move until he pressed his foot to it and it climbed back up his body and back to his arm.

"So you can't throw ice around like I've been doing? Fascinating. People with the same power displaying them in different ways." Lisette froze another lump of ice from her supply as she spoke, tossing it from hand to hand. "Still, you could probably use that as armour. I don't know if I can do the same."

"Y'know, me being a target would imply that she could hit me in the first place." Dominic cut through the train of thought the two were riding. "...I mean she already did, technically, but she probably couldn't do it on purpose." He egged on, clearly providing a challenged for those that seemed to need it. "You too, Marcus, go ahead and try." He began taking a few steps back with the boast, as a person with new acquired healing abilities would do.

All it took was a couple quick steps and Marcus hit Dom harder than intended while Dom was on his off foot and sent him stumbling back to the wall beside the Camelbak. ?Sorry about that, but you were wrong. I?m just glad you didn?t break the water balloons, although they're mostly useless since I need to be in contact with water seemingly, and Liz?s aim would just send most of them to the ground anyways.? Marcus said, as he thought over what Lisette just said about their powers working differently despite both of them controlling ice.

"Oh, you say that..." Lisette chuckled as she shaped her ice into another sphere. Tossing it straight up in the air, she brought her throwing arm down to point at Dom. Again the sphere changed direction mid-flight, making a beeline straight for him.

"Geez-!" He grabbed for the nearest thing to protect himself with. Which was, of course, the backpack Marcus shoved him into. WHUMP! The ball of ice slammed into the bag. He scrambled to his feet after that, in an attempt to distance himself from the sphere before it could be retargeted. "Adam, Noel, a little assistance, if you may?" He asked with a wild, excited smirk as he dove behind the two. He unzipped the Camelbak's main compartment as he did so. In his second breath, he began pelting them from beyond Noel's shoulders, in the direction of those two who wanted target practice.

As her peers began to experiment with their own powers, Izzy stayed back near the entrance. Everyone else seemed to have at least a small grasp of her powers, while she herself couldn't even get them to work half the time. And even if I do manage to get the tendrils out, I haven't been able to make it do what I want yet. It all seems to be like a subconscious thing with them, she thought to herself as she moved over to a table by the wall, dusting it off before hopping up onto it.

The sheer bizarreness and awkwardness of her powers did not help; and as she continued to watch everyone practice she felt more and more disenchanted with her powers. Seeing them messing around with each other made her feel a pang of dejection. The luck of the draw really wasn't on my side with this.

While moping around was something Izzy would do from time to time, this wasn't the time nor place. "I did come all this way for a reason, and even just trying is better than nothing," she muttered determinedly, trying to will her powers to work. When nothing happened, the initial feeling of disappointment hit before she pushed it aside to try something new.

That didn't work. Let's try thinking about something else. Goldmar University. Thankfully I don't have any assignments to work on. I do have work scheduled in a few days, so I need to prepare for that. Need to grocery shop sometime soon before I run out of all my food. Rolling up the jacket sleeve showed Izzy nothing but her bare arm, now causing agitation at the lack of any progress in even getting her powers to work, let alone trying to practice with them.

An inward laugh was stifled as Kayla watched Lisette inadvertently follow through on the threat she made to Dom, although the result was a shower of shards she would never want to find herself caught in. Dom caught the brunt of it, but seemed fine for the wear after a few seconds, despite the whole "getting sliced up by watery knives" look he had right after it.

After everyone looked all right, Lisette went back to attempting to pelt Dom with more from her water supply. Kayla looked at the display with a pang of regret. Damn. Wish I had gotten ice powers instead of this...metal thing. It's so limiting. Can't be playful with it. Can't get it going to where I can do real damage with it. Stuck in the middle with a useless spire. She watched the ice ball hovering in mid air before striking the bookbag shield. I should be able to that at least.

Her attention focused back onto the ugly statue constructed out of the molten metal from before, and on trying to take apart the top part that featured the Sauron spires on the sides. After a few seconds of concentration some separation appeared in the mass and soon the top chunk had ripped off, floating in the air for a moment before crashing to the floor.

Kayla breathed heavily, trying to regain her composure that the effort of that maneuver had forced from her. She tried to force the freed piece of metal into the air to do battle with it's icy counterpart, but it barely hovered a couple of inches off the ground before falling back down. Great...I can't even...do that... She reached backward finding nothing but wall and slid down it onto the ground, in an effort to both regain her strength from all this activity and think about her current situation. Why? If I have to be cursed with this power, why can't I use it properly? Why am I failing at this?

Plenty was going on around Chris after her display with the ground spikes. Lisette throwing an ice spear towards Dom, Adam and Noel, Marcus and Dom blocking most of the shards, and then Lisette started to throw ice balls at Dom. She was, in the meanwhile, working on something else. She needed to somehow break apart the spikes, and she wasn't exactly strong enough to do it. Perhaps she could do it with her powers, so with a lot of focus, she managed to break them down and work the rock pieces towards her to cover her body. The "glove" she'd been able to make before had given her the idea of maybe doing the same for her whole body. Now this would take a lot more focus than just her hand.

After a short while, she had managed to make some sort of rock armor. It didn't really look like armor, more like her gluing rocks onto herself, and when she tried to walk, they just started to fall off her. She groaned and sighed, and let all the rocks fall off her. Well, this is only practice, after all. Can't expect to control them too much right away. She looked towards where Dom and Lisette were having a water/ice fight, and since she figured she'd had enough training for the moment, she walked over to them. Only to get hit with one of Dom's stray water balloons, getting her head and upper body wet. "Well, that's just great. Good thing I'm not wearing white today." It's like my enhanced agility didn't work for comedic effect or something. "You'll pay for that." she said in a playful tone with a playful grin. How he'd pay for it, she'd yet to think up how.

Meanwhile, outside the warehouse, people were starting to gather. They were a rather mismatched group, ranging from people in business suits to joggers and even one guy that looked like a street beggar. All together they numbered eight.

"Think this is the place they ran to?" one of the joggers piped up in hushed tones.

"Has to be. The garage door's been shifted. See there, where the rust on the handle is scattered across the ground?" a suited man answered.

"I was thinking more that the door's been smashed off its hinges, and there are sounds of people inside." his counterpart chipped in.

"And that's why I outrank you. Gotta learn to pay attention to the smaller details, the things people will miss at first glance. Hush a moment." The group paused, to allow the suit to listen. "Doesn't sound like they're paying attention to what's going on outside. Although they do have Ghost with them. For all we know she could be watching us right now."

"Is she going to be an issue?"

"Shouldn't be, long as we keep her at a distance. Moment she pops into view, keep her at gunpoint. If she vanishes, don't hesitate to put a round through her. Everyone ready?"

[hr]

Kara was, in fact, keeping watch at the door. The moment guns were mentioned she hurried back inside, standing in the center of the group before she became visible once more. "Everyone hold up a sec," she spoke up, interrupting the 'fight'.

"I trust you remember the watchers from before? Well, they're here. They must have tailed us. And they have guns. Concealable on their person, so shouldn't be anything more than a pistol. Can anyone do some form of armour? Maybe a barricade... Kayla, see if you can do something with the door. Ram it into the ground or something. You guys will need some form of protection if bullets start flying.

"Anyone who can't do some form of defense with their powers, grab a weapon or make one. We can't exactly run away this time." She vanished a second time. "Well? Don't just stand there! Hustle up! They'll be coming through that door any second!"

Crap... I didn't expect to have to fight so soon. Lisette opened up her bag again to check how much water she had left. There was about half of what she had started with. Would it be enough? She didn't know. But she hoped so. She began freezing small chunks and shaping them into pieces similar to the shards she'd thrown at the others. If she could catapult them with the same force she'd used earlier, it might be enough to injure.

In self-defense, of course. If she was attacked - which was likely to happen, given Kara's warning - she needed to protect herself. They all did. But she couldn't contribute to the defenses yet, so she had to focus on offense. Knowing her role didn't help settle the gnawing feeling in her gut about gunfire... or the ever-present itches where her wings were developing under her shirt.

"Everyone hold up a sec,"

It was easy for Kayla to do just that in her current state, but there was a sense of urgency to Kara's words. But how did she know? It didn't matter. People with guns were outside the now relative safety of the warehouse, and she was inclined to believe that fact. It made no sense to lie about something like that.

"Kayla,"

She looked up at the mention of her name. "Hmmm?"

"See if you can do something with the door. Ram it into the ground or something."

"OK."

While the others focused on their own preparations, Kayla moved towards the heavy door. It still had a fair amount of ice coating it from the work that Marcus had done on their way in, but even now it was beginning to wilt under the spring temperatures. What am I even going to do with this? It didn't look to be as strong as the metal she had been playing with earlier, but it was still a lot stronger than that cookie sheet from Noel's place. Can I try to spread it out? Would it even be smart to completely cut off the escape route? There were a lot of questions in her head but no real answers.

Still, there wasn't anytime for a venn diagram of the results of sealing them in, so Kayla decided to go with her initial plan. She focused on the edges of the bulky door, trying to graft them onto the frame of the warehouse. She wasn't confident enough to try and plunge the metal down through the concrete, so this was the next best thing. I hope this works.

[hr]

The supposed beggar lifted up his gun into a cocked position. "It's about time we got some fireworks. Dibs on Ghost's head." He crouched down, ready to go Jack Bauer on whoever was inside.

Noel had been rather put-off by her friends' blatant disregard for safety while testing out their powers. Having almost been peppered with ice shards would put anyone in a foul mood. Walking off on her own as her peers tested their powers on each other in different ways, Noel found an especially sharp piece of glass on the ground. At first, she figured she'd try to melt it. See how hot she could get. Then, another thought occurred to her entirely.

The dented floor in the bar. The cat scratch from earlier. What was her deal beyond fire, anyway? Taking the shard of class in one hand, she closed her eyes and bit down on her lower lip. If this didn't work the rest of the group were going to likely commit her.

It will work. It will work.

Pressing the edge of the glass hard against the front of her forearm, she dragged it across the surface of her skin. A cold sensation spread out across the area the glass had touched and when she opened her eyes she found there was no blood to be seen. In fact, the sharp glass hadn't left so much as mark at all.

Christ...

She was about to try again when Kara suddenly appeared. There were armed men outside. They had been found. Things were about to happen. Shots were about to be fired.

As Kara began to give orders, Noel took a few cautious steps backwards, instinctively. They weren't ready for this. They weren't ready to go up against armed killers. In fact, she didn't want to fight anyone at all! What was this? And why was everyone so... calm?!

Sure, she wanted to do nothing more than protect the ones she cared about, but this was something else entirely. Did this Kara person expect them to be like her? To fight battles? How could Noel even use her powers like that? It was fire, after all. Once it starts burning it just keeps going.

She didn't want to kill anyone!

"I...I... don't know," Noel muttered. "Sh-shouldn't we run?! If we trap ourselves in here we'll have to fight them..."

She was trembling now.

Could she really fight?

"We can't exactly run away this time."

"But that is all I can do," Izzy muttered quietly after Kara interrupted their practice time with the bad news. Her heart immediately started to beat faster as panic begun to set in. How am I supposed to deal with mooks firing guns? I really doubt I'm fast enough to be able to dodge bullets, and I do not believe that I can do much even if I could get the tendrils to work, she thought frantically as she observed her surroundings. Some of the members of the group had started to prepare themselves in various ways for the attack; either making weapons, barricading, or being like herself and doing absolutely nothing.

Got to think of something. Any exits? Looking around the warehouse gave her little hope of even being able to simply escape. Most of the doors were either boarded up or locked from what she could tell, and she did not think that she would be able to make it up to the roof windows even if she was able to get on the rickety old walkwa-

Walkways! she thought suddenly, looking up at the almost hidden safety walkway that went around the warehouse. This could be something. Following the path of it, she saw that the only way to get up would be to use one of the build-in ladders...if they hadn't gotten rid of them.

"Guess they didn't want anybody to get onto them once it closed down...though I can see the potential safety hazard of someone getting onto it after years of it being unkempt. Which is oddly enough what I plan on doing," she said aloud to herself, walking over to one of the walls where there used to be a ladder. There was no way for her to climb this wall, but looking up she saw that she only had to grab a hold of the piping that remained at the top to be able to get onto the walkway.

Izzy wasn't sure if she'd be able to make it by just running up the wall and jumping to reach it, but a slight rustling underneath her jacket told her that she had an ace (literally) up her sleeve. Turning around she started a quick jog away from the wall, and once she was far enough away she made a sudden turn, speeding up. She jumped up once she neared the wall, being able to make a few more steps up it before jumping to reach the piping.

While her hand did not manage to grip her, the tendrils that had sprung out were. After a momentary pause of celebration, she grabbed onto the walkway's railing and hopped over it. Sweet. Finally got my powers to work a bit, and made it up to the walkway. Now to... she started once some of the adrenaline began to go away, and as her mind began to clear she remembered that she had yet to plan out what she was going to do once on the walkway. "Well...crap."

It seemed the water balloon fight masquerading as sparring practice was short lived, as Ghost reported the chance of imminent attack happening upon the group. Naturally, no one handled the news well. Dominic himself experienced quite a wide range of emotions following the warning. The kneejerk reactions of fear and confusion were present, of course. But, there was also some intrigue and anger lurking around his psyche, and a overall thrilling sensation to the whole predicament.

Dom's never been one to cower away from a fight, especially when the odds weren't in his favor. This time wouldn't be any different. In fact, the recent manifestation of his healing abilities only amplified the foolhardy bravery that left him with many bruises and black eyes (and most recently, a concussion) in a past life. Though, for the briefest of seconds, he thought of pulling out his phone, to just simply call the police. "Nope, that wouldn't work. It'd take 'em too long to get here. And when they did, we'd have to explain why we were out here in the first place, and how a bunch of kids were able to take down a group of expertly trained (and armed) gunmen."

Like everyone else, he wasn't aware of the limits his powers could reach, and frankly, didn't want to concern himself with those factors in this particular moment. "I can heal myself, can't I? What would bullets and knives do to me but slow me down?" He reached Marcus, and returned his backpack.

"So how're we gonna do this?" He mumbled as Kara told them what to do, watching as Izzy ascended into the scaffolding. "Maybe I should go answer the door, see if I could sell 'em some girl scout cookies..." "We could hide, y'know, try an' ambush the ambushers. Or, we could rush 'em. Either way, I ain't backing down. Never did before, and I'm not gonna start today." He was pacing now, looking towards the entrance Kayla sealed off, his arms crossed. Suddenly, his eager gait was halted.

"...And neither should anyone else. If there was a good time to be brave, that time would be now. 'Specially with these powers we have. We can intimidate these guys just by flexing. Just by lookin' at 'em the wrong way." He surveyed the room, to get a gauge of everyone's expressions. The twinge of doubt was apparent in almost everyone.

"Noel, you can spray fire and melt things. Chris, you can make walls for us to hide behind. Marcus, you and I, we were raised in the 'fields, man. We know how this is gonna go down. And you can close the gap between us and them the fastest." The son of policeman living in a area where police couldn't travel alone, Dominic wasn't going to act like he hasn't had a gun pointed to his face before. "We can't get too excited though. We can't kill any of them...Let's be honest, that would be a little fucked up." He doubted any of his mates had that consideration cross their minds, but he blurted it out anyway, to mentally assure himself. "Maybe they might have answers to this whole thing, we never know."

Hearing about the guys outside the warehouse made Chris think of how they weren't prepared for something like that, defending themselves against armed men. She wasn't sure if she could dodge the bullets all Neo like, and she'd have to think fast on how she'd attack them.

Dom seemed to come up with a plan to counter the men outside the warehouse, and Chris listened intently on what he had to say. After a moment of that, he spoke directly to her. "Chris, you can make walls for us to hide behind." "S-sure thing." She wasn't too sure of herself to be able to do it, but it was worth a shot.

She went over to where the door was, staying a fair distance away from it, and focused on making a wall that wasn't too high up, but still high enough to hide behind by crouching. She had her hands facing palms up, and lifted them up slowly as she made one wall rise up slowly from the ground to make for cover. It was decently thick, so any shots from the armed men shouldn't go too far. It didn't stretch too far, but was enough for two people to hide behind it. This is just one wall, though. And it's not too wide. We need more. Making the one wall had taken a fair bit out of her, but she walked around the warehouse, making more walls, each taking more energy from her as she got more and more tired. After making a few, around eight or so, she figured it was enough. She was sweating and panting from all that work, and wondered just how much she'd be able to fight.

Chris made her way back to Dominic, and due to how tired she was after making the walls, she tripped and fell onto him.

"Whoawhoahey-" Dominic spun to catch her, the extra weight and momentum had him stumble just slightly. Chris' walls could easily form a formidable defense against the upcoming opposition. "Fuck yeah, Chris!" Exhaustion apparent, Dom made sure to compliment her on her work. "You should find somewhere to hide. I got your back." He reassured her with a supportful smile. Slinging one of her arms over his shoulders, he supported her to the best of his ability and helped locate a spot where she'd be out of sight.

"The door's been put back into place. This is definitely the subjects' doing. And now that they can't get in or out, we've got 'em backed into a corner. Let's move." The mismatched group of armed gunmen strode over to the door of the warehouse, only to find it had been partially melded with the doorway.

"Ha. Someone in there got some form of metal manipulation. They sealed the main entrance... Jenkins, get the garage door."

"Aw, you guys get all the cover! Fine. But I better get some sort of mention for this."

[hr]

The students had concentrated their efforts on the front door, leaving themselves somewhat unprepared for an alternate path. All looked round to find the lone suit standing in the middle of the garage doorway, having shifted the door up by hand the same way Lisette had done.

"Who are you? Why are you here?" one of them called out.

"You're in a bad situation. I'm here to get you out, all of you," the suit - Jenkins - answered, trying to sound calm and in control. "I know people who can help you understand your recent experiences, and maybe help you in other ways."

Lisette didn't buy it, and she was sure that none of the others did as well. Concealing one ice shard in her hand, she gathered the rest and retreated to one of Chris' stone walls. "We're doing just fine, thanks. And we'd appreciate the media not being alerted to our presence here."

"This is not a negotiation. You're all coming with me, right now," Jenkins retorted, one hand on the gun in his pocket.

"Try it. See where it gets you," Kara's voice shot back, though from where Lisette couldn't tell. She's smart to stay invisible... 'course, I don't blame her. Lisette knelt behind her choice of cover, so she didn't see Jenkins' legs get whipped out from underneath him, knocking him onto his back. It seemed that Ghost had gotten in the first strike.

"Son of a... fine. Take 'em by force, lads!" Jenkins spat as he got back to his feet, whipping his pistol out and chambering a round. Almost instantly Lisette heard gunshots sparking off stone, metal and concrete. They were louder than she'd imagined they'd be... TV and movies held no comparison to the real thing.

They were terrifying.

Lisette cowered behind her cover, clutching an ice shard and praying that Chris' walls would hold. She didn't dare peek out when the shots slowed in frequency. She was too busy trying to breathe, and to keep herself from doing something stupid.

Focus! You know the problem! Solve it! she berated herself. But solving this one involved hurting people. Even if it was in self-defense, could she do that?

Meanwhile, the gunmen advanced into the warehouse, providing covering fire for one another in a textbook 'leapfrog' formation.
