The best one is Earthbound, where you can name just about everything, including your favourite food...

Although I did name my character in KotOR "Darth Revan," just to screw up the big plot twist (spoiler alert).
Hah, I did the same on my second playthrough. Made the reveal scene rather amusing. "Revan: I'm Revan!? IS THIS TRUE?"

I've also done that thing where you call Metapod, penis, which ensues an whole lot of immature hilarity. There's some other ones you can do too, but for the life of me I can't remember what they are.

Oh, and it's tradition to change Link's name to Lunk.

It shouldn't be as funny as it is, but changing one vowel makes everyone sound so stupid.

I'm a diehard, hardcore RPG fan and I just couldn't live with myself doing such a thing to my character.

..Seriously, I'm that rigid when it comes to naming my characters. I did laugh at the Pokémon-jokes, though.

In LoZ:TP I named the horse(didn't change Link's name for some reason) My bum for no reason other then because I felt like it. After like 15-20 minutes of play, one of the lines a charecter said was " I washed My bum for you." Isisn't even know that was coming either, which made it that much funnier.

I've had a lot of fun with silly names on EA MMA, because there's a huge list of names, surnames and nicknames that actually get pronounced by the announcers and commentators.

When I create a fighter, my first step is actually choosing a funny sounding name combination, then building his character from there.

A few of my creations include:

"Marvellous" Mike Hunt (this sounds best when the crazy ring announcer for the Japanese organisation, Lenne Hardt, screams "Miiiiiiiiike Huuunt!", but it's even funny when the deadpan American announcer says "... and the winner is...Mike Hunt").

Xavier "The Big Frog" Lambert (this sounds amusingly racist since the character is a tall Frenchman).

("Fighting out of Holland...) Holland Holland" (it sounds like the announcer has some sort of stutter as it uses the same sound clip of "Holland", with the same tone and inflection for his country, name and surname).

"The Shaolin" Duck Hunt (an awesome sounding name that also sounds like a cool activity).

Hawk "The Hawk" Hawke.

Duck Byrd

"The Professor" Patrick Stewart (just awesome because I used Gameface to import a professionally made computer generated head model of Patrick Stewart so the character actually looks like him.

Hmmm... this has inspired me to play the game again and see whether Roger or Rogers is also a surname, so I can make a Airplane! homage by creating a character called Roger Roger.

On certain occasions i would call my character "I Say" just for the hilarious comments made about my character. (E.G. "I Say, we shall go through the mountains") lol :p

That's some very... interesting skill selection.

Back on topic:
All my characters are generally named:
Asehujiko
Asehujiko <number/roman numeral/role> for games where I have more then one.
or simply numbers.
Exception being Dominions 3, where random mage names and skills generally make the game near unplayable if you have enough to run afoul of the limited name pool, so everybody gets their magic stats as a name with + sign denoting that they are wearing boosters.

So my Ba'al horror spammers start looking like
S3+B2+H1
While the people in the province next to my stargazer wish casters get
W2S6+++H2
And a random Power of the Spheres+Battle Fortune buffing theurg [/s]who also does Wish[/s] gets named
S2H1

In Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, I named my character 'Linebeck' so when you meet Linebeck he asks you what your name is and then says "Linebeck? That's a stupid name. My name's Linebeck."

Hahaha.

Oh you.

Fire Emblem
Lyn: "What's your name? Lyn? That's a strange name"

Something like 'F**k me' amuses me childishly at the action parts.
Context: Turning off a self-destruct sequence/bomb

Person: Now! F**k me now!

Ahah, Sorry.
