That'd suck, wouldn't it.

anyway:
3.All games are online. There is no such thing of a physical copy.
How is this a bad thing?
Well, I usually play my games offline. To me, not having something physical call my own seems wrong. Thats why I usually buy actuall cds, dvds, and video games, instead of downloading them.

Honestly, at this point with how the world is, I wouldn't mind paying a video game tax.

I may be the only person in the world that actually likes doing their taxes... because I know it's going to help fix shit, pay for things, and maybe one day I'll see THE GOD DAMNED ONRAMP FOR THE FREEWAY NEAR MY COLLEGE FINALLY GET FINISHED SO I DON'T HAVE TO DRIVE AN EXTRA 5 MILES ON SURFACE ROADS TO GET TO THE NEXT ONRAMP!

That and Digital only gaming... I already do that... and as long as TF2 still exists.... I really won't care.
Well, I think people would be upset about it, but as long as it is reasonable, I don't think it would be too bad. As long as the tax went to a good cause.

Some players like having boxes (me included).

I wouldnt say its so much a bad thing as something different. Given how the OP isn't serious it's just poking fun at the arguments some people have

To be honest, I thought more people were going to talk about the DLC point, or the total play time.

What you said before hand. If the piracy and legitimate copies become blurred you'll never know if you have the "real" copy. Alpha, Beta builds get leaked, modded versions, updated versions get stored. you'll never know which is a real or the better version.

I was wondering the same thing, but given some of the other things he said, it makes it easier for those things to happen without a physical copy, I suppose.

But sometimes I like to look at my N64 game collection, and get lost in nostalgia.

I have to agree. Sometimes thats hard now. I know a couple friends that bought a 2nd hand pokemon game only to find it was a bootleg.

like that mysterious english translated "green" version that had bulbasaur on it that was floating around in the 90's. Also the "cursed" Red and Blue versions which had the original Lavender Town music that caused kids to kill themselves.

I lol'd... but I couldn't help but notice... XXVXVXII isn't a valid number (maybe an addition problem... 25 + 15 +15 +12? 67?), and... a 1050GB computer? I admit, that would be impressive in terms of RAM, but you were talking storage... I have over 3 times that in the present, and my computer is four years old (but still, a 1.05TB installation for a game? That would be pretty damn huge. That's 75% of one of my hard drives!).

That, and bootlegs of offial versions. One of friends got a ruby version that turned out to be bootleged, and it actually corrupted his Game Boy Advance SP.

I think Cracked once had something like this, only everything was completely fucking dandy, everything was better, and everyone was a gamer from birth. It was an awesome scenario, and I think it was only 50 or so years away (in 2004 or whenever it was written).

THE FUTURE IS NOW

Well, from what I heard from other people on this forum, it means you'd have to go through points 1, 2, and 9 for every game. This is why I stick to freeware, open source, and flash games.

i don't find it that funny, because it means the end of any future gaming for me if it could happen.

in all honesty i thought you were gonna go into "all of them are casual shooters with no single player and no story and all of them are the grey/brown/blah scale colored with cover based shooting and health regen" =D(and yes i know that was written as an improper sentence)

i am thankful it isn't like that, but i don't like the situation you used to make your point

I know it isnt a valid number, ahaha. So, your computer has over 3000GB without add ons or anything? Like, you bought a computer in 2007 that had over 3000GB in one hard drive? What do you need all that space for!!!!

I have to say, I'd like to see his happier version. And yes, the future is now. Well, now just became the past. Damn.

Funny but I'm not sure if your making fun of the state of games or of the gaming doom sayers.

No, not really.

The games industry would be worse off without piracy.
Piracy may be bad but thank goodness for cracks, I don't want to play single player assassins creed 2 online. I think online always will either pass or want be noticed in 20 years because everyone will have a satellite connection to the internet. I think this forum is a bit over dramatic

The thing is though, it could never happen. At least, not in the next 20 years.

I didn't go into the shooter thing because people like Yatzee do it so well already that I'd either do something imitating them, or I'd be using a subject done a thousand times already.

This is all that I found out right now. I plan on doing another investigation quite soon. So, if you think gaming is bad, just be glad this isn?t happening to you. Till I report back, goodbye.
I think what we really want to know about the future is: have Valve released Episode 3 yet? :D

...I don't buy computers... I buy parts, they become a computer. Like Optimus Prime, they are more than meets the eye. Yeah, it was in 2007... but no, it's not all in one hard drive. It's in four, all mounted in one case and hooked to the same motherboard... and I need that space for video storage, audio storage, and general messing around with multiple operating systems.
