Oh good. For a moment there, I thought you were another one of those doom-sayers. They're as bad as the 2012 people. It's crazy.
Oh man, these 2012 people are crazy themselves XD
And especially since 2012 the movie came out!

OT: This reminds me of 2012 parodies XD
The Latinos have mutated and they're hazing up the planet!

The Horrible Future of Gaming

So, after a trip to the future to get my copy of Final Fantasy XXVXVXII I decided to take a look into how gaming has changed in the 20 years I jumped. And boy was it bad. Here are the top items that make gaming so bad in the future.

1.You are no longer allowed to own games. Or license them. Or even rent them. You have to buy the license to rent the license to license the ability to buy permission to rent a game. And this process can take up to 5 years.

2.The above license has to be renewed every day. Luckily it only takes 23 hours and 49 minutes to process. If the license is not renewed, the system explodes, and the offender faces up to 123 years in game-less confinement.

3.All games are online. There is no such thing of a physical copy.

4.A single game can take up all the space on a 1050 GB computer. This is not because of the game?s graphics, or length. 99.99% of this memory is taken up by advertisement.

5.Games take about 1 week to finish loading a level if your computer is fast. Slower computers can take up to a few months.

6.Most games only have total play time of about 12 minutes, but because of long load times and such, most people never finish a game.

7.Game prices have gone up. Most new games now cost around $13,843 without the 57.5% tax put on every game. Game systems area around a million dollars without the 78.45% tax.

8.Every person is required to buy a game.

9.You have to log into your game every 3.2 minutes or else your game will be deleted. If you become idle in your game (which happens if you don?t do something with the game for 2.76 seconds) for 14.6 seconds, you will automatically become logged out, and given a 20 minute suspension where you can?t log in.

10.DLC?s are necessary, as 83% of a game is left out to be used as a DLC. A DLC cost twice as much as a game. Games that allow gamers to buy an extra map for their games now require you to buy 11 map packs to complete a map. These pieces are randomly generated, with some being less common than others.

This is all that I found out right now. I plan on doing another investigation quite soon. So, if you think gaming is bad, just be glad this isn?t happening to you. Till I report back, goodbye.
Judging by how things have gone from my perspective. I give it about 10 years for this to be a reality if people keep buying games like they are.

That'd suck, wouldn't it.

anyway:

How is this a bad thing?
People like me with shit internet get left out, and having a copy is nice.
Guys... we ARE talking about THE FUTURE here, right? You think you'll have shit internet forever?

Can't take the physical copy over to your friend's house and play it on their system, and you can't sell the used digital online only copy either. For whatever reason, if internet service is lost or bogged down, then there is no other options, you're screwed.
But you can have him log his steam account or whatever and play it. As for internet speeds, see above.
Well you forget the point that it forces you to be further dependant on the internet. Which means now you cant even game without it. The more dependance we have on it the more providers can charge without people leaving, look how bad gas prices have gotten because we are so dependant on gas to get around.

Also nobody mentioned the fact that population keeps growing but the job market keeps shrinking. Having things online eliminates jobs for people who produce the game disks or make the cases or who design the cover or do the art not to mention the paper suppliers for the game manuals and such. All those people are out of work.

We also never mentioned that we have to be online to play the game it means that the developers decide when and where we can play. Which means they can decide that after a while they simply wont support the game you bought and it will no longer be up on there service. So you paid money for a game thats no longer avalible so essentially you paid to rent the game but for a significant amount more.

The only problem I see with the post is that parody is supposed to be funny, and the OP wasn't funny. Last time I checked, parody was supposed to be funny. The worst part was it was just cynical... cynicism doesn't really accomplish anything. It was just really bitter...

Cyanide and Happiness. A good comic strip, that happeness to be both depressing and hiliarious at the same time. It can be made to work. The OP was suppose to make fun of doom-sayers, problems with games, and the people who are ALWAYS whinning about games. I'm sorry you didn't find it funny.

1024GB is 1TB, so for simplicity's sake, I'm going to ignore the other 26GB ;)

1TB hard drives are easily purchasable today. Mid-to-top range computers have 1TB hard drives.

6 years ago, a mid-range memory stick was 512MB. (Going on my experience at pre-GCSE IT lessons ;) ). Nowadays, a mid-range memory stick is 2-4GB, which is an improvement of 4-8 times. This backs up Moore's Law, which says that every 18 months, computers double in capacity, in this case, hard drive space.

The nearest multiple of 1.5 to 20 is 19.5, so I'll use that. 19.5/1.5 is 13, so theoretically our computers will have 2^13 larger hard drives. That's 8192TB, which is 8PB (petabytes). As this was based on mid-to-top range, mid-range is more 4PB, or 4096TB. 1050GB? You were out a couple of orders of magnitude ;)

Dunno what your talking about. I just came back from the future and everything seems pretty fine. They let me try out Half Life 3, but said if I told anyone how it was, they'd send a lawyer back to sue me.
You must have came back from an alternate reality as well.

In this one, Valve has yet to show signs that they will finish Half Life 2: Episode 3, let alone a whole sequel. My psychic predictions tell me that Episode 3 will do so poorly that Valve will have to close its doors shortly after its release and I am never wrong. I guess thats what happens when you release a sequel to episodic content 50 years after its first proposed date.

There is literally no way I can say this without sounding dumb, so here goes:

I like the jewel cases. They're pretty and they make me happy.
