Juno: "You're now to be called "Mr. Diversion."

Hey, it'd work. You run up, guns blazing, while the snipers pick off the resistance from the shadows. You can snuff 'em out with grenades, too. *Sage-nod*

And the elites we've got seem to be Elite Spec-Ops soldiers who - you know - are stealthy.
I am one of those Elites, and I deffinately don't plan on being stealthy. : P

You and I, or more so, our characters, are going to get on handsomely.

That was the idea, to be the tank. But aren't you the only sniper? Most people have DMRs, and that's not exactly an insta-kill weapon on anything other than grunts.

...

Let's pretend I meant "snipers" as in "people in the hills taking potshots at the exposed enemies that aren't necessarilly carrying sniper rifles" and not "people carrying sniper rifles".

Though I guess the others would probably be taking potshots from nearby cover.
And could also lob grenades.
And so could Juno, I guess.

...

Let's just pretend I didn't say anything. ^^;

Given all the stealthy characters, I thought I would even it out with, you guessed it, another character sheet update.
Name: James Hale
Race: Human
Gender: Male
UNSC Unit: ODST
Rank: Lance Corporal
Age: 28

Appearance: James wears the standard ODST BUD's. Under the armour he has short, scruffy hair halfway between brown and blond, piercing blue eyes and a scar from when he cut his cheek open as a child.
Personality: James is very calm and controlled, preferring to defuse fudes between team mates through words. He also tends to be chatty and overall very friendly when he?s not exercising his extreme sense of sarcasm. Don?t be fool though, James is a competed fighter, whether it be putting a bullet through a Brutes skull at long range, or silently killing a Jackle with the Tanto that he has sheathed on his right leg.

Bio: James was born on Sigma Octanus IV into a middle class family. He joined the UNSC marine corps at the age 16. He then volunteered to the ODST?s after seeing their actions during the Battle of Paris IV. His first deployment with the ODST?s was the Battle of Ariel. He later participated in the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV, where he received plasma burns to his left leg evacuating a group of civilians (including his family). He later saw action at the Battles of Reach and Earth, where he was stationed at the HIGHCOM Bravo-6 Facility in Sydney, Australia. James is the newest transfer to Theris, having jumped in system on the UNSC Darwin 2 hours before. (James will be being shuttled the surface when the RP starts).

Specializations:
Trooper-Proficient with UNSC weaponry
Operator-Player keeps sidearm and has two attachments on primary weapon
Commando-Prefers quick, decisive battles
All Guns Blazing - Prefers a more direct approach
Tech Expert-Adept with technology
Collaborator-You are willing to fight alongside the Separatists
Sympathiser-You don't consider the Renegades a major threat,
Mystified-Your intrigued by the natives and want to know more about them

Weaponry: James carries a BR55HB SR Battle Rifle with an infrared scope, as well as a M6C sidearm. He also has his Tanto that has a plasma lined edge not unlike Elite energy swords.

Ok, I'm practically ready to start the RP, but since its almost christmas I though it would be best to wait until this hectic and awesome time of year passes. If it were to start now there'd probably be a few posts, then a big gap from the 24-26th-ish.
We're all gonna be pretty busy, which is understandable.

You're all of course still welcome to add stuff, revise sheets etc, 'til thenm if you have the time.

I thank ya'll for your patience until this starts.

So just a few more days, then we can get this show on the road, because doing it now would mean it probably wouldn't hit the road anyway.

At least in the game, they are defined as "those elites that have active camo".
Yeah I have actvely written a dislike for active cammo into my character to improve differentiation between the two Elite characters. Variety, is the spice of life.

Just another question:

The specializations aren't going to define us completely, are they?
For example, Liam has Stealth Expert, but can he still get engaged in direct, non-stealthy combat if he feels it necessary?
Nah, they're just to show what your guy prefers, you're not really limited in any way.

So, when can we expect the RP to actively begin?
Definitely very soon after christmas, likely around 26th with the 28th at the latest.
Obviously postponing it too long could cause people to lose interest, but start it now and it would be very hard to work on it at this time.

Wouldn't that mean that everyone can be as sneaky as Sam Fisher and as combat-efficient as Rambo? And that everyone is a master at tech, vehicles, speed, etc? It seems to defeat the purpose of character creation if we all have the same skills.

Well if someone plays their character as an expert in everything, they are not playing by the rules of the RP forum. Effectively, they are cheating and/or pissing everyone off. Good role playing is about a collaborative story and fun, not god gaming.

I think it means that we're competent at the other things. Someone with a stealth specialization isn't going to be able to fight an entire army as well as someone with a combat specialization, but they can still fight. A pilot knows how to operate technology, but he's not going to be doing hacking, programming, or any technician work.
^ This.

Exactly as ninja said, someone with a stealth specialization will be more adept at goin' around sneaky style but less able to go one man army on their asses.

Also, do any of you mind language?
I'm thinking of allowing swearing and such in the RP, within the rules of The Escapist of course.

I don't even think there's a rule for saying any swears. Besides, we're soldiers! We can swear all we want, but me being an Elite makes me the other kind of soldier...

I'm ok with swearing, within a resonable amount mind you.
