MGS4.... I was way over-hyped for that game... and then it wasn't even as good as No.3. Dissapointing.
I personaly think MGS3 was the better one

but if they put the control scheme and amazing graphics in from MGS4 in MGS3

Would it make a differance ?

Yup. I loved MGS3 more even with it's fiddly controls and last-gen graphics. If they combined 4's awesome gameplay mechanics with 3's sheer storyline and fun... we could possibly have the ultimate game right there.

GTA IV. I was hugely excited - and hugely disappointed.
Me too.
A friend & I got really inebriated and went to the midnight launch. Then played all night. We both came to the conclusion that it was a letdown.
I even put it in knowing that it wouldn't be the next gen San Andreas but it wasn't even the next gen GTA3.

I gave it more time of course (played through the whole damn thing) but they just stripped too much GTAness off of it. I think it's the first GTA to not have any form of rampages.

The last game I was hyped over was Viking: Battle for Asgard. I loved the trailers and I was obsessed with Vikings at the time. I got it, I played through it on the hardest difficulty and loved it.
After a while, I wanted to play it again but I felt bored doing so.

Before that, there was Oblivion, I waited 4 years to play that... I was a bit disappointed because there were too many empty spaces and it didn't really live up to Morrowind for me(only in the combat, where I prefer Oblivion's). Great game though.

I tend to get all hyped up over more than a couple games... I was the first person in the local game store to buy Oblivion on release day, and DoW II I bought on Steam because I couldn't wait long enough to go to the store. I did wait in line for almost six hours for Halo 3's midnight release, which was an awesome experience in itself. My friends and I then proceeded to play it all the way through with the remainder of the night.
Though as far as DoW II is concerned, I totally underestimated it (despite my constantly checking for updates months beforehand) and was blown away by the campaign.

One game that I totally got over hyped about that turned out to be absolute crap was Advent Rising. That was a waste of my money, and to this day I keep thinking back on what could have been...

Halo 3. I remember being with a bunch of friends midnight on launch day. On midnight, I ran in as fast as i could, grabbed the legendary edition, (everyone else just bought retail versions and limited versions) and we went back home, system linked, and played the campaign. Good times. :D

Fallout 3. I heard everyone say it was a good game, bought it...returned it a month later. Maybe if I could have continued after the end of the main quest line without waiting 2 months and paying $10, I would have kept it, but...
