Interested, give me a day for the character.

a few questions before I decide on the character
- deviating from the "Heaven Schematics" causes steam entities to go insane; Myth or Fact? 'Spose it doesn't matter, I can use what information you've put there.
- The republic is chaos incarnate? yes or no (and if yes, is there a bit of subtext there ;P?)
- ... I dunno, I kind of want a feeling of the different cultures, I mean we have 4 empires, the republic (right? three of them are at war aren't they or are they occupied?) and the sky pirates. Are you cool if we make some stuff up or do you have an idea as to the sort of culture that they have?
- Do elementalists have a specific affinity, and if so is is based on their empire or are they able to use all of the elements.
- Fact, reason unknown. Believed to be the work of Chaos.
- They are not Chaos incarnate. Their leaders have been corrupted by Kith. They betrayer who felled the king of Ashhelm is the leader and in service to Kith (We don't know about her). The people are just like anyone else, but have been swept up by a silver tongue spouting nationalistic whooos.
- For the culture of the republic I was thinking something more Nazi-esk or Fire Nation-y (Avatar). The other nations are like Victorian era England. But thats just the faces I've slapped on. Specifics are certainly to have quirks and such.
Sky Pirates are pirates and they're a mix of every nation, so a culture clash and their own of whatever you feel like.
-And theres only 3 Empires left, two are now dead and overran.
-Elementalists are not affected by their nations affinity, the affinity has to do with the gods. See the magic section for them, (Fire, ice, lightning spells).

The geometric shape would be close to a long diamond shape. But of course it is much more diverse than that. Simply the four compass would give you a diamond shape at the four farthest pieces of the continent.

Originally a stock standard model 32/6 revolver manufactured by Masterson Armaments. Kalley has ripped it apart and almost completely redesigned it; the only thing that is recognisable is the ammo cylinder. The hammer has been modified to use the recoil of the round fired to prime the next one, thus making the pistol semi-automatic. After she knocked it in its holster and shot herself in the leg she pioneered the safety mechanism.
I was under the impression that firearms hadn't advanced this far. I thought we were still in a time of muzzle loaders and rifling was a whole new thing. So, unless I'm wrong, the revolver has not been invented yet.

Sure, I'm keen. We'll discuss it on Skype or PMs. Skype or something like it if we need to do a three-way convo.
Just started working on a rough character sheet and was wondering if there was room for one more in this possible band of sky pirates? I was thinking of making him a fighter pilot if that works.

Yours is fine, might need slight adjustment of dates once I have that rudimentary timeline up.

Ya your going to have to get a new gun I'm afraid. Other than that. Seems fine.

Just delete the first bit and maybe rewrite the 2nd and 3rd par and its fine.

You just want to make those tattoos regular tattoos and things are fine. Than as you said clean it us as you feel like it. The more spit and polish the better right.

To let you know true Sky Pirates are born in a chain of archipelagos called the Pirate Havens. They're to the south of the continent. This is where the vast majority of pirates are based out of. They're tropical and like the Caribbean. I plan to write up history on this place since we've so many people are vying for Sky Pirates.

Flint, no cap. If I let guns be to powerful (Speed in this case) than the usefulness of swords and such dramatically decreases.

Alright, Character!

Name: Evangeline Faleron A.K.A. Falcon
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Nationality: Sky pirate (Hipereon)
Faith: Light
Magic: none

Abilities / Talents: Evangeline is extremely acrobatic and athletic able to climb and leap well even in difficult situations. In addition she is a skilled grappler and very good at close quarters combat. While Evangeline knows how to use a wide verity of weapons she never really specialized in any one being more a dirty brawler then a technically skilled warrior (she's more comfortable with a chair, broken bottle, or elbow then a spear).

Evangeline also knows the very basics of piloting airships of various sizes though not much more. On the other hand she is a very skilled glider. Evangeline used to know a bit about lock picking as well, though those skills have mostly atrophied.

Weapons: Optimal combat load:
A quintet of bayonet knifes, simple and plain but well kept

A spring gun

A light fragmentation grenade and a pair of smoke grenades

Armor: Both Evangeline's occupation and method of combat do not encourage much armor, but she still wears some. A simple jerkin of padded leather and matching shin pads provides a small amount of protection along with a folded leather headband.

Equipment: A pair of gloves with extra grip on the palms, the fingers are cut out and the knuckles studded. Grip boots. An equipment/climbing harness. A spring deploying glider pack (often discarded after deployed). Her left gauntlet has a spool of spider silk string on it, the spool has a spring to keep it wound up normally and the string ends with a small metal ring. A pair of collapsible grappling hooks. A length of silk rope. A pair of goggles.

Appearance: Evangeline is rather short, only about 4' 10" tall, with a slim wiry figure. She also looks rather boyish; still distinctively feminine in casual attire, but it would take very little effort for her to disguise herself as male. For all that though she has a rather rounded face and a small nose. Her hair is black and cut to about ear length, any attempts to stylize it are usually undone though as it seems to be perpetually windblown and wild(Evangeline herself gave up long ago). Evangeline's eyes are a dull amber in color.

Evangeline's casual attire also tend to be rather boyish, often including a sleeveless shirt and light vest as well as some tough workman's pants and a single knife at her waist. When going into combat he clothing is quite a bit less loose, tending towards sky blue in shades accented by her darker blue armor (Providing a touch of hypothetical camouflage against the sky). When going into a combat zone Evangeline usually keeps one bayonet knife on each hip, one on her right forearm, one in her right boot, and the last over her left chest. Evangeline's goggles are usually up on her headband unless she is about to make a big jump or it's very windy.

Personality: Evangeline puts up a good show of being fun loving and 'just one of the guys' but inside she can't stop herself from tending to be rather grim and serious about absolutely everything, though she isn't completely immune to a good time. Evangeline also puts a lot into her appearance of being a tough stoic person whom little effects, but she has a surprisingly deep well of compassion and sensitivity that she does everything to keep buried.

Evangeline can be fiercely protective of the various scorchers; especially Rez Tereth, Zeke Vantiri, and Kalley Ashford; and will go through a great deal to make sure everyone returns to the Firebolt alive and well. After so many years the Scorchers are her family and the Firebolt is her home.

Evangeline absolutely detests killing, though she acknowledges it's necessity and wont hesitate for a second to kill to protect someone she cares for. Still, the fact that she has grown so adept at violence is something that weighs heavily on her in her darker hours. Evangeline is a very private person though she has well honed her ability to project the exact opposite.

One of Evangeline's greatest fears is to lose everything she has worked so hard to earn and be reduced to the poor condition she started life in.

Bio: Evangeline was born near the very gutter of Hyperion's capitol amongst a clutch of brothers, it wasn't long before she was running the streets with many of the other poor children. Even as a youth Evangeline used her climbing and jumping skills to enact small burglaries among the slums. However, much of her life changed when a new child appeared. The young royalist named Rez Tereth absolutely fascinated Evangeline along with how he disliked his rich life almost as much as Evangeline hated her poor one.

As Evangeline grew up she eventually believed that she had come to love Rez (though she never let on) and when he told her of his intention to run away and become a sky pirate she didn't even hesitate to follow him in the endeavor.

Evangeline became one of the first and most determined of the scorchers, silently promising to do whatever it would take to make the pirate group succeed. To that end Evangeline became what was known as a 'leaper' a pirate specially trained in the (extremely dangerous) art of literally jumping from an airborne airship or fighter onto a target (sometimes even another airship) to engage the enemy crew in hand to hand combat. It was in this capacity that she earned her nickname (which she hates but cant get people to stop) for her terrorizing cry that she lets out when pouncing from above or leading her small troupe.

Over the years Evangeline has come to realize that her girlish crush on Rez was just that, a crush. She has since moved on, but still considers him one of her only true friends and would still do just about anything for him. In the mean time Evangeline has become something of a minor matriarch in the Scorchers thanks to her level head, constant presence, and ability to beat the snot out of most of the crew.

Evangeline could never really bring herself to much like the older soldier Marc when he first joined the crew; his heavy drinking and viciousness in combat ran strongly parallel to her preferences. Over time she came to acknowledge his fighting ability, even asking for a few lessons in conventional swordsmanship, but his inner sourness still reminds her a little too much of herself so he has ended up one of her less favorite crew.

When the pirates 'captured' a lone fighter and it's young pilot Evangeline felt an immediate sympathy for the boy. Evangeline personally made sure that the pilot, named Zeke Vantiri, was well cared for and made sure that the other pirates didn't pick on him too much. When Zeke joined the crew Evangeline continued to watch over him, coming to really appreciate his good cheer when it came out. These days Zeke is Evangeline's favorite pilot to ride along with before a jump both due to his superb flying and her personal trust of him.

Another of the recent additions to the crew has also caught Evangeline's eye. Kalley Ashford, being one of the only other girls aboard the Firbolt, naturally drew an extra level of protective tendencies from Evangeline, but Evangeline also found her work fascinating as it didn't seem to resemble anything she had seen before. Evangeline also came to respect the younger girl's focus and determination.

All done. If there's anything I need to change then just go ahead and tell me.

And what do you think Viking?

EDIT: v2

Perfectly understandable.

I spent some time looking at this thread, thinking "hey, wouldn't it be cool if there was a character like this! If I was on it, I would be that guy." And then, before I knew it, I'd written 850 odd words about him in Word. "What have I to lose?", I thought.

So here he is.

Name: Tostundir Axela

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Nationality: Hipereon

Faith: Respects the Gods, but does not "follow" any, per se.

Magic: None

Abilities / Talents: Tostundir specialises in inventing and tinkering, which sometimes results in a better system than before. Sometimes. He also knows how to fly a plane and do metalwork and other assorted types of crafting (though he denies knowing how to knit), but he usually leaves it to the mechan experts who are far better at it than he is, unless he needs something very specific. An intelligent fellow, he can usually deduce how to get anything to work, given some time alone to concentrate on it. Apart from bikes. He never could work out how to steer those bloody things. And after that attempt, well, he doesn't really want to try again...

Weapons: He carries a flintlock pistol, as well as Opal, his cane (spring-loaded with a 10cm blade that is released by twisting the spherical handle. The blade must be pushed back in again and the handle twisted back to stow the blade again. Opal is wooden but has a steel core for blocking sword blows).
He also uses a personally designed wrist-mounted 20cm long ballista, with metal framework.

The ballista section (mounted under his right wrist) can be removed from the wrist-mount and put in a coat pocket for convenience. The mechanism is tightened by winding the crank (which can be folded away). It is then released by pulling on the looped piece of string (which would normally be put on a finger, so that pulling his hand back is all that is required to fire). He prefers it to using pistols as it is more accurate. He only usually carries six shots with it, though, which he stores in his coat.
Additionally, he has a hydraulic strength assistor on his left arm, which, when activated, can straighten or bend his arm with more power than normal. However, it only has a small tank of pressurised steam to work with, so it doesn't take long to run out of juice, so to speak. It also malfunctions quite a lot.

Armour: Not much to speak of - in combat, he has a leather chestpiece under his normal clothes, and his boots have metal plates in certain places as well, but besides that he relies on his ability to block with Opal or dodge entirely.

Equipment: A modified top hat with a deployable eye-piece (for the left eye). Acts as a monocular (I think that's what they're called...) with 6x magnification.

Appearance:
Short brown hair, around 6'2". Wears a brown coat (think David Tennant Dr Who, Mal Reynolds from Firefly, etc) with dark red trousers (I suppose you Americans would say "pants") and a navy blue shirt underneath a black waistcoat, with knee-high dark leather boots and the aforementioned black top hat. He wears the leather wrist-mount over his coat, as well as black leather gloves.

Personality: Tostundir appreciates being a Royalist, and enjoys all of the perks it gives him, as he is well-trained in recreational plane flying and horse-riding, and always tries to be polite (especially to women, as a true gentleman of his stature should be). He has little sympathy for pirates and other lawbreakers as he has led a shielded life, often not realising the corruption of his Royalist peers.

Bio: Born to a Royalist family, Tostundir always showed excellent intelligence, but never really bothered to put it to use until he discovered the power that invention and creation provided him with. Once this idea had set in, he visited the mechan of his home city, Lightwatch, more and more frequently, befriending a particular man, Rednor, and effectively becoming his apprentice.
Funds were not a problem, as his parents saw the passion he had for invention and construction, and they permitted him to follow his dreams, on the condition that he continue with his other commitments to high society, which he now did with relish, knowing that he did it all to earn the right to build.

After his schooling had finished, he decided to work with Rednor for a few years before becoming a full-time inventor, selling his inventions to the government and companies, but all this changed one night when a freak bombing raid from the republic killed Rednor and levelled his workshop, only a few days after Tostundir had started to truly work with him. Distraught at his mentor's death, Tostundir tried to move his plans ahead a few years by inventing from his home, but whenever he sat down to think of ideas, all he could think of was the bomb that killed Rednor, and the plane that dropped it, driving him to build tools for personal defence and eventually leading to his enlistment in the army as a low-ranking officer. It was here that he met Olicia LeMuire during her time in the infantry, where they found that they had common interests and confided in one another.

After a few years of fighting (and a couple of promotions), he eventually suffered a bullet-wound to his thigh that was severe enough to put him out of duty for some time, during which he realised that his place was not in the trenches. With a clear head and his desire to avenge Rednor sated, he told Olicia that he would settle down to a quiet life of inventing, helping the war-effort in that way instead (a few of his fighter designs are being tested at the moment). Olivia then contacted him some time later, telling him that she was at a loss for what to do as she, too, had left the military. After catching up, he took her on as an airship (and general air vehicle) design advisor.

Despite his efforts of inventing from his peaceful home, he still feels guilty for leaving the war, especially as Tibarn is now close to being under siege. Still, when he left the army, he made sure it was known that he would be willing to rejoin if he was needed.

And yes, those pictures were all done by me in MS Paint. Sorry about that.

I hope there aren't too many things I need to correct. Thanks for considering.

EDIT: Now updated to latest version of character (in line with post 92).

I know it's not exactly what's in the picture, but coach guns didn't exist until the mid 19th century, what's in the spoiler is most likely blunderbuss, which is single shot.

Whilst having a second character may not be OP, I'd recommend one be committed to writing them as an actual character, as if you wanted a familiar there is the option of having your own Steam Man.

And to post an image, use [ img] [ /img] without the spaces.

Also, I know the GM hasn't commented, but I didn't know that it was okay to make up lore/magic.

Blunderbuss has a flaired barrel (better for fast relaods) were as the coach gun is more like a short double barrled musket. I did an img search for flintlock coach guns and that piture came up (and I've seen a coach gun that looked very similar to that in person).

While, as a former cav soldier, it would make sense for Marc to have blunderbuss, I was just going to pass it off as a gun he 'aquired' after becoming a pirate.

Name: "Crazy Ivan" Ivan Drago
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Nationality: Pirate Havens
Occupation: Sky Pirate Mercenary
Faith: Non follower
Magic: Class C Elementalist
Abilities / Talents: Naturally fluent in Arcane Language(s), Arcane knowledge, Basic Piracy (how to take care of & operate one's weapons, Intimidation, flying a sky ship, sailing a ship, Proper techniques: Mugging, pillage/plunder, Drinking, drunk fighting, dirty fighting, gambling, Lies, shooting, etc), He can also spell cast while drunk.
Weapons:
These bad boys were Ivan's Mentor's weapons (before his mentor was captured by the Republic).
Armor: Cured leather with brass stripes in between layers. Ivan won this armor set with a "dead man's hand" and the previous owner went berserk. But, Ivan shot the man dead, striped him nude, sat him up in the chair and continued playing poker.
Equipment: Tome of magic, Tattoos, Rum (lots of it), pickled eggs, High Altitude Pirate clothes (Goggles, tri-corner hat, Thick water resistant long-jacket, Boots and brown scarf) which fits nicely over his armor, lucky Mummified Thief's hand (mummified human hand with the number 13 tattooed on the back, in a clenched pose), Large satchel (to carry most of his things), His cutlass and guns.
Appearance: Scrawny, unkempt, with the look of crazy in his eyes... or that how most people describe him.
Personality: Eccentric, "I'll do what i want" attitude,
Bio: Ivan was born in the back ally of a brothel in Pirate Havens. Life was hard, his mother blamed him for all her problems and beat him nightly in a drunken rage. She died some time later from some extremely rough client. But, he wasn't truly orphaned. The other girls all had him call them mama, the owner had him call her grandma, and he did have a few "bastard" brothers and sisters (not actually related) that lived there too. As soon as the children were old enough to walk they were old enough to work (Cleaning and running to the market was about it until they were older to "work" like the rest of the adults).

Ivan showed sighs of magical abilities when he was young (scribbling arcane symbols). Most adults simply thought the boy was just a crazy son of a whore. "Who couldn't possibly posses such grand power for being such a piss-ant". Well, until the old pirate elementalist, Black Bart, noticed Ivan and took him under his wing. Black Bart taught Ivan everything he knew about magic (& life) and over the years they grew close like a father and son (unbeknownst to both of them, they were in fact father and son). The life of a mage pirate came easy for Ivan since he liked booze gambling and terrorizing people. It was a refreshing change from being a punching bag slave; to being "respected" and living a care free life.

Black Bart's life lessons: People tend to leave the crazy guy alone, Listen to your captain and respect your crew.. they are the ones who'll be watching your back when trouble rings its ugly head, Magic won't solve everything... but setting things on fire is always funny,

During his early years while traveling with Black Bart, they were highway bandits. It was less hazardous to train in magic on land then in a (air)boat. Bart claimed Ivan was an Arcane Prodigy and wanted to send Ivan to a Mage college. But, Ivan protested against such ideas.

By age 12 Ivan became a cabin boy, for the Sky Pirate Mercenary group known as DeadStar (The name of the ship). Murder, fighting, gambling and being drunk has grown into a daily routine as Ivan got older. He became a available asset when his powers came to its current peak and helped Black Bart in his coup for leadership. Deadstar usual missions were bombarding the republic's troops or supplies. Until it burned to the ground 5 years ago, Captain Black Bart was captured the rest of the crew killed. Poor Ivan was left bloody and broken.

His body has healed, but his mind is off kilter (or so everyone believes). The more crazy shenanigans he gets himself into, the more people talk about him. The more people talk about him, the more jobs he is offered. The more jobs he gets, the more republic soldiers he gets to burn.

Tweaked. Just a little bit.... :p (added a pic)

I kinda feel bad...I got talking to him on Steam, and because I was reworking my sheet I asked if I could tie it to his, he said yes, I made a note of that when I reposted it...and now this. I can't help but feel a little responsible.
