Please, please believe when I say I'm not trying to start something... because I'm not, but the term "evolutionist" while awkward isn't without some merit. You're right, people aren't called gravityists, but some people find it hard to believe that a monkey one day woke up and said "Oh hey, I have a soul and self-consciousness!"

Not saying I agree or disagree. I'm just saying it's not wrong.

That's not how evolution works. Different animals have different levels of conciousness. It's an extremely slow and gradual change over many many generations, just like anything else in evolution. And there's no scientific evidence for anything like a soul.

It's scary that there are people out who ask themselves "What would Jesus do?" somehow, when looking at his teachings, get the answer "Pop along to the funeral of some poor blighter who has died of AIDS and scream at the bereaved that its his and his families fault that he happened to prefer the company of other gentlemen".

Would have thought "Cure the poor fellow of his AIDS", or just more generally "be nice to people, and forgive them" or even "make a nifty cabinet" would have been rather closer to what Jesus would actually have done.

Ah. I honestly thought Catholics and Christians were their own separate religions. I know they pretty much believed in the same things, but I thought they wanted to separate themselves to Christians.

I will have to blame school for my ignorance. I remember how one of my religious teachers in high school couldn't control the class and ended up teaching us nothing until another teacher took over and taught us nothing but the religion of Islam :s and then she'd always spiral off about racism by saying (no word of a lie), "Racism is when white people pick on non-white people because of the colour of their skin..." I think that teacher has been sacked now.

They stop doing religious studies in year 10 too. I suppose religion has always been something I have little interest in, so I never took it upon myself to teach myself about it.

Anywaaaay, I'll go before I derail...

Well Lot did get drunk and rape his daughters(who earlier in the book he gave to a rape mob to save angels) and he was the only person saved from Sodom(so god deemed him good).

Well, that's blatant nonsense. Even atheist's would be hard to deny the evidence that some bloke called Jesus did some stuff in what is now Israel during the Roman occupation and was stuck onto a couple of planks for his troubles. Islam also features Jesus as one of the prophets, and branches of Judaism accept him as a prophet - no neither see him as the messiah. I think even Hinduism and Baha'i have him involved.

The definitions of Christianity is hard to pin down, due to the wide discrepancies in the view of the various various denominations, but in all the major one's accepting Jesus as the messiah and the teaching's of the Gospel's are pretty high on the list
