I've been reading through a thread about norse mytholigy, and the name Thor came up, and that had me wondering; Do people know the meaning of their names?
I happen to know that Andreas Frederiksen means "Man, son of peace-ruler", so if you know what your name means, feal free to post it.
Hmm Frederiksen. That seems to be the danish/norwiegen/swedish version of Friðrikson which means rich of peace and that could also be interpreted as peace bringer (the son/sen just means son of like you said).
I'm not correcting you I'm just adding to your translation since the norse names can often be translated in more then one way even if all the translations are similar.
It's danish allright... I looked up the name Frederik, wich is the dansih equvilant of Frederich (german) and Fredrik (swedish).
Since you're iclandic, you might understand the original term, that is, the dansih term i translated, so here it is: fred-hersker. Translated directly it becomes "peace-ruler"; I'm guessing it's a monarch or such, that rules during peace time, but hey, rich of peace isn't that far from it.
