Well, I know my given first name was given because then my asshole could shorten it and pretend I was a boy. Middle name is from a bible thumper and my last name is old German for "good ruler" or "wise counselor". (both of which my father isn't.)

Ross,

From a Scottish and English surname which meant "promontory" in Gaelic, originally belonging to someone who lived on a headland. A famous bearer of the surname was Sir James Clark Ross (1800-1862), an Antarctic explorer.

Katie

And it means.....

Haha, apparently as a shortened form of Katherine: The name is of Greek origin, the Greek word katharos means pure, and signifies chastity and innocence.

Guess I need to go pick some flowers or something.

My first name is a load of crap. It means "fond of horses". What. Inconsistent. Nonsense. I got kicked in the face by a horse when I was 12 and giggle whenever I see a bottle of Elmer's Glue knowing that one of those clackity pricks got their feet chopped off so children can attach macaroni to construction paper.

My last name, Moody, is Anglo-Saxon for impetuous and quick to anger. It's probably why my extended family is dysfunctional (badum-tish).

I actually happened to be reading about this just yesterday. Apparently my name, Matthew, means "Gift of God", huh...

Alexander means "Defender of Man" if I recall correctly. Completely misleading, considering I'm mostly the one doing the attacking, even if it is in retaliation.
