Some of my favorite bands right now are Tool, Pantera, Lamb of God, The Black Dahlia Murder, Between the Buried and Me, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Disturbed.

Wow. That's pretty bad. Ever since A7X decided their main fanbase was 14 year old girls they've been pretty shitty. I'm gonna Youtube this though.

I stand by what I said. This Escape the Fate band seems more like a bad (really bad) ripoff of A7X then a band to compete for the title of "Metal Boyband."

Death and thrash are my favourite genres, though my favourite bands are Fear Factory and Mastodon. I'll be seeing Iron Maiden in a few days...

As for what I DON'T like, metalcore. Ugh. Five Finger Death Punch and Bullet For My Valentine really are loathsomely bad. And the FANS.

Summer Slaughter looks to be awesome this year. And you wouldn't happen to live in the Atlanta area, would you...?

OT: I listen to a lot of Stoner and Sludge Metal, as well as some Death Metal and some Djentish stuff.

No i live in SC but im driving with some buddies and nothing wrong with stoner and sludge ive seen crowbar and down. got a long list of bands ive seen live lol seen over 50 shows

Death, Opeth, Necrophagist, Pestilence(Mind spheres is a great album), Autopsy and Morbid Angel, to name a few.

I've heard of them, I think. I'll give them a shot. Also, if you haven't heard anything by Fleshgod Apocalypse, they're pretty good.

I started out with the gateway bands. Metallica, Ozzy, Sabbath, little bits of Slayer and Motorhead thrown in. Then I got into Pantera, which gradually got me into screaming, and through miraculous circumstances, I came into the possession of 22 free death metal cds, and that got me into death metal. Now I'm into everything from proto-metal (Sabbath, Zeppelin, Deep Purple), to death metal (Opeth, Carcass, Death, the Big Three Gothenburg bands, among others). Top 5 Bands are as follows:

1.Metallica/Pantera
3. Opeth
4. In Flames
5. Slayer

Seeing Slayer in August..first Slayer show. I am pumped. Testament is OPENING (would pay to see them headlining), followed by Megadeth playing Rust in Peace in its entirety, and Slayer playing Seasons in the Abyss in its entirety. Seasons is my absolute favorite Slayer album, so I am double psyched.

EDIT: I am also into Southern metal quite a bit. I prefer a good riff over a shreddy solo any day. Crowbar, Down, Kingdom of Sorrow, etc.

For subgenres, I like folk metal, black metal, melodic metal, and tech metal. Here's some bands to introduce you the the genres:

Folk metal:

Black metal:
Burzum (classic)
Marduk

Melodic metal:
Primordal (maybe melodic black metal; idk)
Children of Bodom (especially the album Hatecrew Deathroll)

Tech metal:
Between the Buried and Me (especially the album Colors)
Cynic

Also, I highly suggest listening to The Mars Volta. They're not metal, but they are awesome.

these are my tastes; if you don't like them, then at least you know what your tastes are not.
