Definitely Kain

Why? Because when forced to make the choice between himself and the world....he chose himself, and it's always cool to see someone who's basic motivation is 'fuck destiny!'.

The truck from duel. You never find it's motives, you never see it's driver, and you never discover anything about it, but it gives out so much character and fear. Truly quite something.

That being said, probably Col. Quaritch from Avatar.

Man is awesomeness incarnate. Makes you wish he was the protagonist instead of Jake Sully.

Alas...

I would say Kefka. Nothing as badass as being completely 100% batshit crazy and still able to get what you want done. Though I respect the frail frame does weaken his case a bit.

Beyond that.. Hush from Batman.
Let us not forget the glory that is ULTROS.

Haven't checked pages 2-5, but no mention of Kane from Command and Conquer on the first page? Seriously. The greatest Magnificent Bastard of all time.

Hmm, for me, maybe Lord Darcia from Wolf's Rain? He treads the line so carefully for most of it, it's hard to tell his true intentions, plus he looks badass, and kinda cute.

Ultimecia from FFVIII was another good one; you never know about her till the end and she controls everything, plus her plan nearly comes through. Plus her final battle is quite hard >.<
I disagree with ULTIMECIA purely because of the following...

1.Shes not even mentioned until end of disc 2
2. Get to a decent enough level and you can spank her fifteen ways from sunday
3. shes blatently Squalls love interest Rinoa in the future
Hmm, I can agree with the second one, but I like it how she isn't even mentioned for a while; keeps you guessing. As for the third, I'm confused; how would you posses yourself? Why would you let yourself nearly be absorbed and killed by Adel, plus Rinoa has white wings, black hair, while Ultimecia has white hair, black wings (yes, I know appearances can change, but still...)
The name of ultimecias gf is the same as rinoas dog as well
No, I believe Ultimecia's GF is called Griever, which she takes and creates from Squall's consciousness,, because his personality is strong and loyal.
Rinoa's dog is Angelo.

Colonel Quaritch.

Goes into toxic air just to fucking kill somebody, the air makes you unconscious in minutes and dead in hours. Oh no, not Quaritch, he doesn't care about stupid air. He proved that only real-me don't wear Gas-Masks.

Fixing an over-sized combat knife onto his Mech and fighting the enemy while on fire, I wish he was the protagonist.

Nox from Wakfu.

Consider the following:

1. Fought a dragon and held his ground.

2. Can slow down the passage of time to a near stop.

3. HUGE ASS SPIDER CLOCK.

4. Ended many civilizations and committed genocide to collect Wakfu for the purpose of going back in time.

5. Cunning and very opportunistic. Knows when to retreat.

6. Thousands, nay, MILLIONS of tiny insect robot spies EVERYWHERE.

7. He WINS. Defeats Yugo and his brother, kills yet ANOTHER race off, and is responsible for the death of Sadlygrove, a core character in the series. He does not give a single fuck about his victory.

8. He succeeds in his goal to travel back in time. However, instead of traveling 200 years back, it's only 20 minutes, reversing all of the events that have taken place in the episode, sans Sadlygrove's death.

9. He has spent two centuries of collecting Wakfu so he could be with his wife and children again. After he became preoccupied with the Cube, which made the impossible possible, his family left him and went to live elsewhere. The island they left too was wiped out with no survivors. After he has failed, he doesn't vow revenge or a "I'LL BE BACK". Instead, he retreats to somewhere else to die, knowing that he will never see his loved ones again.

CHESS from the cape.
go watch the first episode, he's got the perfect villan get up and his acting is great. he's about to detonate a gas and blow up a quarter of manhattan and he's got this perfect "i am so exicted to blow people up!" look on his face...but then it doesn't work and he frowns and it's like awwwww.

the evil emperor from star wars.
he's got evil goals, evil means of completing them, evil laugh, evil schemes, awesome hood, he can shoot lightninghe's not afraid to torture a kid, and he's got a red lightsaber. come on now. on top of that, props to him for being the only character with any personality and/or acting ability in all 3 prequels. i mean god dammit george lucas. no seriously, think back to all the characters from episode three. i can honestly say ewan mcgregor and nathalie portman were the only other two who showed any other kid of emotion other than dull and that was for like 5 minutes and in the same scene. they're both really good actors, i like them and all, but lucas didn't give them anything to work with. luckily for lucas, Ian McDiarmid worked with his character and created the evil chancelor palpetine.

THANK YOU, AND GOOD NIGHT.

Charles Dance as Mr. Benedict, from "The Last Action Hero"

Why? he's dangerously genre-sawy,a complete magnificent bastard.

Quotes

Jack: Did you make another movie mistake? You forgot to reload the damn gun!
Benedict: No, I just left one chamber empty. (And he shoots.)

Benedict: "We'll have a nightmare with Freddy Krueger, have a surprise party for Adolf Hitler, Hannibal Lecter can do the catering, and then we'll have christening for Rosemary's Baby! All I have to do is snap my fingers and they'll be here. They're lining up to get here, and do you know why Jack? Should I tell you why? Hmm? Because here, in this world, the Bad Guys can win!"

I fear Darth Vader lost some of his badassery in the prequels. He's still head and shoulders above the rest though.

Scar!
Seriously though, Lordgenome.
1. His name is Lordgenome. Not Lord Genome. Lordgenome, badass name.
2. He beat up the most powerful Gunman with the best pilot controlling controlling it with his bare hands.
