I dunno where to begin

Dawn of War - the first time a bloodthirster appears *BOOM SPLAT ROAR!!!*
Gears 2 - when you see the ruins of Jacinto with the light pouring through on part 4 of act 5.. gorgeous
Halo 3 - every cinematic is a splendid art form, also a 100 to 99 victory in big team is just wonderful
Painkiller - using that titular weapon on a huge hoarde of unarmoured enemies is just epic *thwock thwock*
Wolfenstein 3D - the first time you get that minigun, seeing his face be all XD and then ripping up anything in the way, also killing Hitler is cool.
Timesplitters 3 - beating a robot to death with a baseball bat
Gears - General Raams head exploding, or that wonderful Hammer of Dawn smashing a bezerker to bloody rags

i could go on, but essentially gratuitous violence, close shave victories, checkpoints, epic cutscenes (like the spartans raping all those elites in halo wars OMG!!!!!!!), and good weapons (like the stake launcher in Painkiller) make for beautiful things.

When you first put that game you pre ordered and waited until October 28, 2008 to get into your disc tray, and you hear a quiet crackle, which fades into- "I dont want to set the world on fire; I just want to start a flame in your heart..." The camera slowly makes its way out of a broken bus to reveal a wasteland. Then, cut to black.... On the black screen, the words "Bethesda Studios Presents..." (the words fade into the black screen). A few seconds pass as a new set of words appear against the black screen... "Fallout 3."

I'm going with leaving the vault in Fallout 3, I thought it was far better than Oblivion's opening.

Besides that, i'd have to say that first fight in Shadow of the Collosus. I distinctly recall that upon first seeing it, a trudging giant that appeared as interested in me as a rock.

So to achieve it's attention, I shot an arrow at it's back.

As it turned around, I thought: [i\]"Holy shit.... what the [b\]fuck?[/b]"[/i]
Ah hah, agree with both of those. But.. everything in Shadow of the Colossus is beautiful. ;D

Though I find myself to be some what never impressed with graphics recently because I think that gaming is reaching the point where it's nearly impossible to be in awe by how beautiful things look like, my pick would be Super Mario Galaxy in the first galaxy "Good Egg Galaxy".

The first time I jump out of a Star Warp and was flying through space filled with a heartwarming soundtrack and a colorful universe that made my my eyes cry and they eventually said to my brain "This is Jesus' second coming, it's amazing..."

Nailing people's heads to walls with the railway rifle in Fallout 3, I go find their heads and laugh.

How many times: Oblivion.
I just rigged up my new graphics card and proudly clicked Options > Ultra on the video menu on the Oblivion launcher. Took one step out of the sewers and had to change my pants.

Other must-see scenes:
- Exiting the gate from Shivering Isles and seeing Bravil across the water during sunset.

- The view from Dive Rock. If you've been there with a low-end video card, it's an ocean of gray. With a good card though... holy cow. If you've never been there, imagine standing on a cliff six kilometers above sea level looking down at a snowy valley.

Also, seeing your opponent QQ in a game of StarCraft.

Though its pretty boring compared to other answers, it would definately be sights from Crysis. When you're high up and looking around at the huge scale and beauty of the jungle, its pretty awe inspiring. Nothing has compared to that yet in a game for me.

To me the most beautiful sight in a game is the sight of a checkpoint or place to save the game when playing on the hardest difficulty. As for actual graphics, Empire Total War has me. It looks excellent and I can't wait to have a computer that can run it.
