Seriously, what the fuck did we do to deserve this?
People hate America because we allow these idiots to be our spokespersons.

In my friend's Algebra 1 class there was a student who asked the teacher whether or not x=5 is the same as 5=x ....

We were talking about STDs in health class, specifically AIDS. I asked if it was true that AIDS originated as a disease in chimpanzees, and my health teacher said yes. Then someone in the class said "So, someone F***ed a chimp and that's how AIDS started?"

The whole class was laughing so loud, the principal came down from his office to see what was so funny.

In my maths class, we were looking at a cubic function, and the teacher showed what happened when the function was derived, and drew the graph of the parabola. Someone promptly put up their hand and said "Sir... next to the x and y axis, what does that little "o" mean?"

The teacher turned round and looked incredibly surprised, and simply said: "That's zero, Zac."

There had to have been people who knew the answers. I have a hard time believing they didn't find at least a few educated people. It is sad that this is how the world sees us.

Of course our pop-culture and the media(Fox News) seem to do everything they can to convince the world that everyone in the U.S. are a bunch of drooling buffoons who can't even figure out where KFC comes from.

My personal favorite was in a class on probability. This might not seem that ridiculous, but this was a high-level college math course and the guy really should have known better.

It was the first day of class, and the professor was giving a brief history of probability. He explained that probability theory was developed in the 18th century to help with gambling. Then he gave the example of flipping two coins. He said there were three possible outcomes: two heads, one head and one tails, and two tails. Then he said, "Before the 1700s, people actually believed that all three outcomes had the same probability," and chuckled.

Then one guy raised his hand and asked, "But why don't they all have the same probability?"

And then I headdesked.

ROFL!
Wiki is short for Wikipedia. When used as a verb it means to search something up on Wikipedia. Specific and structure are both words that have definitions on Wikipedia, I suggest you search the aforementioned terms on there because I d...on't much feel like explaining two words that aren't even complex or advanced to the likes of you.See More

Trying to be an Einstein wannabe? Since when does having proper grammar make you an Einstein wannabe? Besides, Einstein wasn't even a linguist, he was a physicist. I do know what I'm talking about because it's not very complex, all you have to do to understand it is not be retarded.
Also: I don't have hundreds friends on Facebook because I don't just randomly add everyone that lives in my general vicinity, which is probably what you do. Besides, the amount of friends on Facebook has nothing to do with anything, whether you have 2 FB friends or 200 you're still an idiot.See More

Peter ****** That`s like saying that a retarded kid is still smarter than a nonsentient tree branch, while it may be true; the retarded kid is still retarded by society`s standards. You are the retarded kid in that metaphor, by society`s standards you are goddamn stupid. Also, here`s a hint: instead of mindlessly asking about every word, why don`t you try actually trying to find out the meaning of it by yourself? It`s really not that hard with the wonders of the internet and makes you seem like less of an idiot

Also: I love how instead of actually providing actual criticism you just call me a creep, even though I have done nothing that would qualify as creepy, it makes me laugh so hard. Oh, and since you seem to care so much; I have plenty of friends, and I really couldn`t care less how many fb friends you have considering you probably only talk to like 5 of them regularly.

Peter ****** Ok, this is starting to get incredibly annoying so I`m not replying anymore after this. 1. You know nothing of my social/personnal life so shut up. 2. Actress? singer? Ha! 3. This is what? The 5th time that you`ve called me an "Einstein wannabe"? I can't believe that you`re stupid enough to actually think that it makes sense to call me that, I haven`t mentionned physics of any sort in my posts & as I said before; Einstein wasn`t a linguist. There are more points to refute but I can`t be bothered

I apologize for that, I must not have been paying much attention to the quote boxes. Oh and FYI I wasn't taking a direct crack at you or anyone else specific, I was referring to the largely mis-informed masses.

ENKC said:
FYI, that wasn't a real news show. CNNNN was an Australian comedy show that parodied news broadcasts.
Ah, well I suppose I'm not familiar with any Australian shows. That seems better but my point still stands that people who don't understand a clear bias (which is a sadly large amount of people) would still think that that information is accurate, because it is clearly placed as showing Americans as stupid. In fact it might be just as bad for sending the message "Look, Americans are so stupid that we can make a comedy show out of them."
In other words, people as stupid as the ones on the video wouldn't understand that the video was for comedic effect and not an even handed representation of the American public. Hence, I'm not seeing any problem with it. And in fairness, that comedy team have ruthlessly parodied idiocy and ignorance among our own Australian people.

Ron Paul is actually a rather interesting guy, and although I may not agree with everything he says, he certainly thinks for himself on issues which at least you can respect.

I remember that he was one of the few members of the Republican party that believes that Julian Assange shouldn't be punished because he was simply utilizing freedom of speech which he believes incredibly strongly in.

At this point I feel the need to reitorate that I don't support the negative stereotype that all Americans are stupid, I just genuinely think that it's funny that there are people on this earth who are not familliar with this basic general knowledge, regardless of their nationality. Granted some of those questions were a bit culture specific (I wouldn't for example expect someone from, say, Belgium to know what KFC stands for necessarily) But I demand that anyone ANYWHERE can locate and correctly pinpoint AUSTRALIA on a map. Anyone with access to a modern education is required to know what that huge Blob in the bottom right corner of the map is.

Ben Stein right after he finished making expelled a movie about "evolution" the quotation in there are a must. Any way he goes on TV and go off about how Darwin's theory didn't account for the origin of life or the universe or gravity. I mean come on you are making a movie about a scientific theory and you fail to realize its basic principles after it is made. The copies of this movie should be burned they are not even usable as coasters.
