And some people just forget how many days there are in a year, i dont see that as ignorance, its just they forgot by accident.

I agree, I am very well informed in comparison to most of my collage classmates but I don't know the answer to either of those questions. In the interests of destroying ignorance, can you explain how many days there are in a year and what Bipolar means?
There are 365 days in a year mostly.

Bipolar is described as a mental disorder, there are diffrent types, but these people go beetween being depressed and in a bad mood, or in a very active state.

Apparently Bipolar people can be quite successful and creative, i remember well that Devin Townsend has Bipolar.
Stephen Fry is bipolar and he has to be the most liked comedian alive

I see your VenomFangX and raise you a Nephilimfree. Good lord that man is ignorant.

OT: I was going to say that discussing religion with anyone is a lesson in ignorance but that would be inflammatory and in poor taste. I get why people believe and don't want to take that away from them.

However discussing atheism with others is really a lesson in ignorance. So many creationists have an extremely horrid view of what atheism is and trying to tell them its not is like trying to fight an army of bears with a butter knife... Its possible but your not getting out of it unscathed.

Case in point: the aforementioned VenomFangX and Nephilimfree.
The name rings a bell, I definitely know him but I can't put a face to him. D:

Everyone's got their areas of ignorance, man. I've never actualy said to myself "This person is too ignorant to work with!" at any point, however, because Ignorance can be fixed. It's not exacaly something I dwell on.

I do remember, however, this case - Someone was talking to me about their opinion on something (That something being me, and how I was basicaly a prick) and he actualy said "Everyone agrees with me, man!" and went on to ask everyone around him, (about 3 people) who all said "Yeah, he's a prick." And he said "See?"
So then I said "So, what you're saying is, that you opinion is right because it's popular?" and he just said "Yes." I kind of just became mentaly retarded for a second. And this was while we were all 16 or so. I tried to give him an example to show how dumb that idea was, and he just brushed it off. See, that's what I really don't like - Ignorance, I can understand, but just continuing that ignorance even after it's been pointed out to you? Not so much.

I can't even begin to count how many people have stubbornly argued with me that there are 52 states in the United States and that Benjamin Franklin was once the president.

Bloody hell, this one girl sitting behind me in one of my classes. She asked three questions, each of them more facepalm worthy than the last.

First question:
"Are snakes amphibians?"
Okay, that's a bit of a facepalm, but some people can be confused there, it's not so bad.

Second question:
"Are fish amphibians?"
At this point, I was like Are you fucking kidding me? I turned around and told her, "THEY'RE FISH."

This brings us to the
Third Question:
"Yeah, I know that, but are they amphibians?"

I HAVE. NO WORDS.

I once met a woman who was completely convinced that the sun turned into the moon at night. Bear in mind she was in her mid twenties.

I was at a mates house party, when a girl started talking to me. She then noticed the pendant I was wearing (a celtic spiral) and proceeded to ask me if I was religious.

Me: Yes im a pagan actually.

Girl: Isn't that the religion where you worship Satan and scrifice goats?

Really did facepalm there. But it got worse, after explaining to her what Paganism was about she then proceeded to tell me that I was going to hell for not believing in God and for not being baptized.

Last year (I'd like you to keep in mind that the person in question was, at the time, 17) during a free geography class, someone who happened to be in my maths class was doing some homework. He got stuck on a probability question which had something to do with the probability of two people being born on a standard year (i.e. not a leap year). He proceeded to, without the slightest bit of shame, raise his hand and ask "Sorry, sir? How many days are in a year?"
Just this week, my friend (18 years old) was confused by the fact that there are 12 months.

He was sure there were 10....

I worry about him.
Fooled by the misnomer that "December" has become, maybe?
Fun Fact: The Latin decem root you are referring to was correctly named when the modern calender was invented. Rome started their year in March, making December the 10th month.
Hence why I said the misnomer it has become.
>Implying I was telling you you were anything but correct.

There's this amazing thing called the internet, if you really wished not to be ignorant you could look up most of this thing online. It's funny because they obviously don't pay attention to the simplest facts (days in the year) or hear something from an idiot and think it's true.
Well you see not everyone is given a little push towards being so analytical of life. Everyone grows up diffrent, everyone gets diffrent chances for mental development.

Its not their fault.
Yes, it is. They need to take responsibility for their education. When you say "It's not their fault." you are basically enabling people to keep being ignorant.

You're right, some people may not have experienced a lot of reassurance in child hood and they suffer later in life. However, that doesn't mean they don't understand their situation and if they do nothing to correct it then it is their fault. It is too easy to blame your parents for your problems, and it works for awhile, but once you get into the real world you need to wise up.

My sister. She is proven wrong, and she continues to believe she is right. Always. Even after about 7 people argue against her.

lol Yahtzee

I have a friend who once thought the president of the US was also the Prime Minister of the UK (we live in the latter, RULE BRITANNIA etc.). He then got a bit confused when we explained it to him. He frequently is ignorant like this, but he's an alright guy really. Just not that smart/well informed.

Half the people in the Gaming Discussions section of this forum, usually haters. Thank god it's only half.

This website collates some more superb examples of ignorance:

http://www.fstdt.com/QuoteArchives.aspx?Archive=1

Also, a history teacher once told us an anecdote. There'd been a test (well, more like a quick fact check) and once of the questions had been "What were Sacco and Vanzetti accused of?" By all rights, everybody should have known the answer to this question since we'd been studying it as part of our course (though for those of you here that haven't, they were Italian anarchists of the 1920s accused of armed robbery/murder). One person's answer to the question was reportedly "buggery".

...I lol'd.

People dont really realise they need to take responsibility up until a later age, their not given that kick.

Self realisation doesnt come at an early age. Its not their fault.

And this is not ignorance, just a lack of knowledge of some things.

Alot of them dont really understand their situation, and alot of them dont come to self realisation or that kick of wisdom.

Im not saying to blame the perents, just saying not everyone gets the same kick of wisdom/knowledge as everyone else.

Also responsibility should count where it matters, so if someone cant remember how many days there is in a year thats nothing serious. They didnt need to know the amount of days before, so they did not come across it.

But you know whats worse than ignorance? Judgemental dickheads.
I'd rather have a judgmental dickhead vote than an ignorant person vote, just sayin'.
