Also,Final Fantasy VIII.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe45YhKQEQU The Legendary Beast, which plays after you get hit by Shockwave Pulsar.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HrEMVNkiok&feature=related Only a Plank Between One and Perdition, which plays during the game's two toughest boss battles.

Also,I can't get enough of Total Annihilation's opening cinematic. It has amazing music, and the narrator does an amazing job of hooking me.

I like each soundtrack because of how well they were composed and written. Each song fits its assigned place perfectly, and sets the mood perfectly. These soundtracks are,in my opinion, the best in the world.

For me, it's probably the soundtracks to all three Spyro games on PSX. I swear, I can remember just about every track from Spyro: Year of the Dragon. I know/remember way too much about that one in particular.

The Kingdom Hearts series also has such memorable music to me. Tracks like Tension Rising, Arabian Dream, and The 13th Dilemma are quite memorable.

Cave Story also has an incredible soundtrack.

I really liked the music from Enter the Matrix, even if it was just the same thing as the movies.

I don't know what would be the best or most artistically sophisticated... but I know the most memorable for me will always be Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I still find myself humming different tunes from that game.

In second place I would have to say Sonic II, another one I find myself humming all the time.

The entire Halo Franchise has music that is better than just about every other game out there if you ask me.

Kingdom Hearts 1-2, it's the only 2 games where I've bought the actual OST.

Bust I also liked Never Forget, the menu theme from Halo 3.

Every time this thread occurs I post this same video. For good reason, too. Halo 2. Mjolnir Mix. I don't care if you hate Halo or not, you have to appreciate this piece of art.

Brutal Legend!

Driving around in your awesome demon car with the apocalypse raining down upon you and power metal playing in the background? Can't get much better than that.

The most memorable, and to me, the best soundtrack in a game is Final Fantasy X's soundtrack. It's just incredible to listen to.

Here's a sample:

Oh fucking this.

Final Fantasy X's soundtrack is one of my most memorable. The Mass Effect and Halo games also have very memorable soundtracks.
Hmm, I tried looking up some good Mass Effect music for my iTunes, but the best I could find that was also memorable was the 'inside the Normandy' theme (since you are there half the game)

Mind recommending any others?

Oh, and yeah Zanarkand would be on the top of my list.

Brutal Legend, hands down without a doubt!

Even the most tedious of drives to the other side of the map become fun, when a bit of Motley Crue or Tenacious D starts to play. The sound track also gives the stages battles a brilliant atmosphere to them.

Whenever i hear 'Die For Metal' by Manowar, I can't not think of Brutal Legend.

(EDIT: The L4D2 Midnight Riders songs from the concert finale also deserve a mention)
