Half Life 2: Episode 1. Waiting for that elevator i had a small nuclear arsenal of explosives, flares, and blunt objects (I was going for the 1 free bullet achievement). So there I am, sitting on my stockpile when a Zombine comes charging with a gernade into my stockpile. It explodes. I almost die. My arsenal? Gone. My flares? Scattered. My blunt objects. No where to be seen. Thank you very much Zombine.

Only 3 really come to mind:

Nelo Angelo on dante must die mode in DMC1.. That fight took so long and you can't afford to make a single mistake..

Flame Lurker in Demon's Souls, he was so much tougher than any other boss in the game and he was encountered quite early..

And the one Boss(well bonus boss battle?) I never finished was the secret bosses in Mortal Kombat shaolin monks when you have to fight all 4 Ninjas at the same time.. The only time I've ever said "Fuck this, it's just not possible.".. Haunts me to this day..

Oh god, let me think...

Kingdom Hearts: "Holy shit...is that...Sephiro-*FLAMING DEATH PILLARS INSTANTLY ANNIHILATE ME*-WTF?!"

Kingdom Hearts 2: Sephiroth also, was not expecting a near instant-kill attack at the very beginning of the fight. That was just embarrassing.

Zoids Battle Legends for GC: Giant robot dinosaur spams projectiles like I have never seen before or since.

The first ogre on the George Washington Bridge and the skeleton beast thing from Ninja Gaidden 2. The ogre took me about 2 hours of dying/reloading. The skeleton beast on the other hand was based purely on luck it would seem. It had this one attack, THIS ONE GODDAMN ATTACK that was UNAVOIDABLE, where it would grab Ryu, bite his head (Taking out a big chunk of health) then fling him at the wall or smash him on the wall across the room (took out almost the rest of your health). I finally got into the fight after about two months of refusing to play at one point where he didn't use the attack like he usually did, and that's how I ended up winning.

I got instantly splattered to pieces by the first Brute in Dead Space 2 on the hardest difficulty, he didn't even need to attack, just rhino charged me down. He was so much tougher, and me without any seriously useful weapons and only able to have 3 saves, I died and it reloaded me AAAAAALL the way at the start of the game. Yeah, fuck that shit.

Sub-Zero from the origianl Mortal Kombat games: Cheap Bastard.

Final Fantasy Tactics Original: Game saved after I got to a boss area. It would NOT LET ME GO BACK TO GRIND. And so I was forced to watch each time I attempted it as my team was wiped out by Weigraff and his ugly ass minions with literally no hope of succeeding.

OH! And I couldn't possibly forget Mrs. SUPER OP the Asari Spectre from the Mass Effect 2 Shadow Broker DLC. First time I fought her was on Veteran. Wouldn't have been so bad if that *****'s health and shields weren't so insane. She ended up totally crushing me with her versiobn of Charge versus mine, because I wanted to prove "Whose was stronger." Surprise, it was the one born with biotic abilities and not the space commander.

Not so much a boss, and I didn't get owned.

Versus in Dead Air L4D2. We reached a moment where were on the rooftops and a Tank (human) spawns.

In four seconds, he punched all three of my teammates off the roof. Four unstoppable BAMFs to just me.

So I ran off, jumped off a roof and cried on my mic "You will not beat me!"

Oh my miss. Agreed, he's a cheap b-tard. Fortunately he has toned down in Blood Resurrection.

I nominate Lady Yunalesca from FFX. Is she the toughest boss? No. But she tricked me. Remember how she likes to use a new attacks with each transformation? Well Her second stage form likes to use Hellbiter to damage and turn them into zombies. Not a big deal until she casts Cura and Regen on them. Time to cure the zombie status, right? And then comes phase 3. MEGADEATH! Your whole party is now dead. Too bad you didn't leave them as zombies, they would have been immune.

Playing Kingdom Hearts long before I had played any other final fantasies, and trying out the platinum match.

My first question was who the guy with the ridiculously long sword was, second question was how did I die so quickly
So, it was Cloud, right?

I'm interested, what is this Platinum Match thing, and what happened? (I've never played Kingdom Hearts, and didn't know it was Final Fantasy.)
Pretty sure you now know that the Platinum match is against Sephiroth the villain from Final Fantasy 7. What people are not telling you is why it is so hard.

It's a one on one fight and Sephiroth walks as fast as Sora, the main character, runs. Your first couple attacks won't even do damage. I'm not sure if this is because Sephiroth is flat out immune or if he has more HP than the system can show you. His basic attacks do massive damage and which can bring even a high level character down fast and he does them very fast and then retreats (making a counter impossible). Let's not forget his explosion attack which takes up a quarter of the field, he only gives a quick vocal warning for, and can decimate you if you are caught in the middle of it. And if you actually manage to get a small combo on him, he teleports behind you.

And, then, he gets serious. He starts to run and use a massive combo that can easily kill you. And don't forget "Heartless Angel". That WILL kill you if it hits. Fortunately, you can use an ability that will allow you to survive deathblows with 1 HP so it's not that bad. Of course, if you do survive the attack, it drains all you MP. He starts summoning meteors and has them float around for a moment and follows that with an explosion that you can't escape (it hits the whole battlefield). He eventually starts creating orbs of light that surround and close in on Sora, and he likes to combine that with his sword strikes and even his running. And he only adds to his list of attacks. So once he starts using Heartless Angel, he'll keep using it for the remainder of the fight. Every attack he uses from the beginning are still being actively used, so you never really know what to expect. He's a pain, to say the least.

Don't get me wrong. He is very beatable. It just takes knowledge of his attacks, decent stats, and the skill to pull it off. Honestly, I fought him all the way to level 100. You're basically guaranteed to level up every time you beat him.

DA:O one of the demons in the fade (the one that looks like an ogre). If he tackles you when you?re close to a wall you are fucked because he will tackle you again and again before you can get up and do anything.

It was part of the fight, but in World of WarCraft, the whole raid getting obliterated by the Lich King's Fury of Frostmourne when he was at 10% health. Then he does a speech about how it was his plan all along, any heroes powerful enough to get past his most feared creations he would then slay and raise them as minions to send back upon their own people. He raises his sword and begins channeling shadowy magic into all our bodies. But then the Paladin Tirion Fordring breaks free from the icy tomb the Lich King placed him in and leaps and shatters Frostmourne, his runesword. This releases the souls trapped within, including the spirit of the Lich King's own father King Terenas, murdered by him years before. He then resurrects the raid and stuns the Lich King, while we all pile on him and take him out. That was pretty awesome...

He dropped two of the same Rogue dagger that no one needed.

Another is when I was fighting Emerald Weapon in Final Fantasy VII without using Knights of Round summon which accounts for a LOT of damage. None of the item exploits either. He was almost dead, then did his Iron Tam Storm thing that killed everyone... Like 25 minutes of solid fighting over in an instant.

Jinpachi Mishima will always have a special place in gaming Hell for his constant cheep tactics. For instance I get to him and the announcer says "Round 1 Start." Before I even have a chance to get near him he slows time then shoots 2 fireballs from his gut in rapid succession each taking away half my life for a ko on me with less than 2 seconds removed from the clock. then the next round he does the same bloody thing. He is annoying because you have to hope the game decides to not do that particular move combination out of the gate otherwise its an auto lose. He is truly the first and thankfully only boss I've faced in not just a Fighting game but any game genre that beating came down more to luck (luck in he won't do the above immediately @ start) rather than by skill.
That boss ruined tekken 5 for me!
Unless you could combo him to death he'd just cheap your face off!

Fighting Long-Armed Chariot boss in salvage while playing FFXI. Was the main tank/damage dealer. It Brainjacked (charmed) me, making me attack my party members. Ended up killing all of them but the healer. Then the Damage Over Time effect (25 HP every 3 seconds) ended up killing me off while I was still charmed. It was hilarious!

I remember when I had a hard time beating Jinx from Super Mario RPG. Of course now with a lot more gaming experience I've come to realize just how ridiculously easy that game was. :p

My first run through Final Fantasy X, I never used Kimahri after getting him. The Ronso fight on Gagazet, that was painful. I managed to get by it on about the 20th try thanks to some luck. In truth, I should have been forced to go back to the beginning there. There was no way Kimahri should have managed that fight.

Thankfully, they didn't make me solo anything with Auron, who also never made it into my active party. Could have done with a Rikku solo session. By the time I left the Calm Lands, she had gone through everyone's grid.
If you don't use Kimahri there you can never get Mega-wall for his Lancet ability.

OT:
Maybe Lu Bu in the battle of Hu Lao Gate in any of the Dynasty Warriors games. Normally I just seek out generals, but I always run from Lu Bu.

Meta Ridley's headbutt from Metroid Prime.

Worst thing about it, his first use of it comes out of nowhere and it does 100+ damage
Why is he looking at me fun-CRUNCH!!!Oh, right, start again then...
