First of all I hate you, you little *****.
Tell me what was so great about the Beatles... Or don't, I'm entitled to my opinion.

Avatar I mean I never bought the hype and I made sure to watch it on the worst tv in the house so I wouldn't not be taken by it's charm and it was so average.
You watched it on the worst TV in the house just so you could ***** about it? That's just pretentious.
That Movie's selling feature was its absolutely stunning visuals...and you intentionally watched it on the worst television you could...so you couldn't see the best part of the movie?

I agree the movie was overrated and the movie itself was a little bland, but why would you do that?
You watched it on a bad TV so you wouldn't get taken in by its charm and gorgeous visual effects? Aren't those two main reasons to watch a movie? Are you a masochist?
If you don't get sucked in by the movie's charm and empathize a little with the characters it's just boring...
yes but graphics mean nothing movies are about storytelling and a pretty 3d picture is no reason to get a stiffy and say something is EPIC. When really all it is is a picture you've seen a million times but spruced up to show a lil more color. My choice of tv was purely do to the fact that graphics mean nothing. I watch DVD on a non HD tv and I don't care. HD and blu Ray don't look that much greater. And frankly anyone who is sucked in by the pretty movie that was avatar must have lost the blood flow and had it reorchestrated into their member.

They're not only about story-telling. They're a visual medium, so to ruin the visuals means you ruin the movie.

Dogs. I hate the damnable annoying little pests...
Friendship! Over!

Well, technically we were never friends, and technically I mean nothing by this. In reality I was just responding to you as a means by which to lead into my point, which is ...

Dogs are awesome but I find cats are extremely over-rated and the only redeeming quality they have (being cute) isn't very common, as most of them are actually ugly and/or evil looking.
No, good sir, now our 'friendship' is over!

Cats are so wonderful and cute and fluffy! Especially kittens. They're so tiny and adorable, and their tiny mews (for they cannot rightfully be called meows) are so soft and cute...

I've have the same old cat for about 12 years now, and he's as loyal as any dog. When I come home, every single time, he's in the same spot ready to meow at me when I walk through the door. He follows me around and is very often around me in whatever room I am whether I pay attention to him or not. Hell, he even figures that my bed is rightfully his.

Better than any dog, like my dad's. Annoying little alarm clock, and far too clingy. The bastard can learn a few things, but so far it's only aided him in 'justifying' whining even more! The bastard will whine at any chance he gets and it's all far too annoying. I hate that damned thing...
I Just gotta say here that Dogs are hardwired to show affection to the "Leader of the Pack"/Alpha. Most of the time, that is their owner. With Cats, cats show affection because they actually feel it for you, not because they are compelled by their biology to do so.
I've got to call BS on this one.

From my dogs point of view, the Alpha Male in our 'pack' would be my dad, and yet she is very affectionate to the rest of the family too. When I come home from school, there she is, jumping on me and trying to lick my face.

So I think this 'dogs have no actual affection' stuff is absolute rubbish.

FYI: The only affection I've seen a cat show is when they want something from you, be it food, or petting.

You are entitled to your opinion and I guess if I stop overeacting then I can see that music is more of a matter of taste than any other media. Regardless I still feel the need to answer your question. The Beatles have been the most influential band of all time. No other band has had the same effect on the music industry as they have. They completely took the entire world by storm. No they're not the most talented band on the panet, not by a longshot, but no other band has had the same impact as the Beatles. Also I love their music although as I said earlier that's just a matter of taste. And sorry, I'm sure you're not a *****.

Tim Burton. Don't get me wrong, I love The Nightmare Before Christmas just like anyone else, but Alice annoyed the hell out of me.

Cod: MewTwo is just....terrible. Halo....is just squandered potential. With all that backstory, you'd think they'd actually use it in their games, instead of just "shoot that thing! And shoot that thing!" Oh, and the fact that the majority of your enemies are comic relief kinds deflates their credibility; they brought humanity to its knees? So, yes, as it is right now, Halo is overrated. Maybe Reach can change all that with its squad format, but that isn't for another few months. I also think God of War and Gears of War are overrated. Why is that when something is over-the-top gory and visceral that it's hailed as a masterpiece, even though there's almost no coherency to the story (if there's any story at all)?

That's why I say they are overrated. They were druggies who threw out a few decent songs, so people ignore the REALLY messed up ones that truly show the stoned-ness of it, like I am Walrus... Weird song... And people then worshipped them..

movies are a visual medium that tell a story but the amount of graphical prowess means nothing if I wanted to see something pretty with no story behind it I would go the Louvre. And even some of those paintings have more story than avatar.

I guess the point I should have made was that just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it's overrated. So you don't really like the Beatles, the rest of the world did. Until then music had been dominated by American bands then along came the Beatles and everything changed. They experimented with many different types of music including psychadaelic. Yes they were out there minds on drugs and it definitely showed in the lyrics but it was different and it worked. You didn't like it and that's fine but everyone else did. That doesn't mean it's overrated. I realise by that logic that nothing is overrated. There's many things that I'd like to think are overrated but that's because I don't like them and I just have to live thinking that everyone else is the idiot. This is an opinion thread although looking back there's no point in it.

German cars, especially luxury cars.

Here in Australia, German cars are generally viewed as the best of the best. This is partially because, often, the cheaper models simply aren't imported, or they are re-badged as other marques (such as the late 90s Holden Barina, which is actually an Opel). So, generally, the more luxurious German cars are the only ones people really notice.

Why do I say they're overrated? Mainly because their Asian competitors (like Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Subaru...) are almost always better value, often more reliable and usually just as safe. German cars are overpriced, they're full of all sorts of overcomplicated technology that has been known to act up with disturbing frequency even on new vehicles, and they're often nowhere near as reliable as you have the right to expect for the kind of money they cost, especially once they get old.

Reliability ratings among German marques (even Mercedes-Benz) have taken a nosedive over the past couple of decades, with Asian manufacturers (particularly those from Japan) consistently outranking them in reliability surveys.

So you'd be entertained/satisfied watching Stop motion stick figures re-enact pulp fiction for 2 hours?

I see that yes, they did something 'different' but I would hardly say everyone liked them but me, but I'm betting you're not being literal. The point is, lots of people say they're overrated, lots don't. I'm in the first group.
