OK, the kinect and move have been out for a bit now. Both are farily different and both are motion controls (obviously)

So my question today escapists are as follows

Whats your opinion on motion controls?
Did you get any of the new ones? what are they like?
Whats your favourite one (wii included)

I dont mind motion controls, as long as they stayed on one console, but now its gonna get tedious when lots of games need move or kinect to be good/play at all.

For the reason above, I am getting the playstation move for christmas just for time crisis 5 (and possibly resi 5 move) It annoys me that I have to get move for time crisis, rahter than use the gcon, and I would have liked to wait to see if more games came out for the move. But alas, christmas is the time for presents, and its quite a big one.

My favourite one will always be wii, generally because its motion conrol only, which means more effort into it, rather than having to juggle both a controller and a motion controller.

so, what are your thoughts guys?

1. They're good, but still a gimmick, not completely working, but good nonetheless so far.
2. I haven't got Move or Kinect, and I can't get Move without getting a PS3 first, and that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
3. My favourite would have to be Move, considering that Kinect, even though it has no controller, isn't great with the motion detection when I used it, and the Wii is only used, in my house, for Guitar Hero. Move was really responsive, but a bit strange with depth (but that was because the camera was on an angle instead of level), so I prefer Sony ATM.

I'm not a fan of motion controls really. I'll always prefer a controller in my hand to flailing my arms around. Its not that I don't find motion controlled games no fun as I did enjoy playing stuff like Wii sports but the novelty goes away after a while moreso if you're playing solo. Suppose another factor is none of the games appeal to me either I don't have many games for the Wii but the ones I have bought don't use the motion controls (Brawl and Fire Emblem)

My view is the Wii made me stop loving Nintendo. I hope their next console has proper controllers.

I dunno. Sometimes motion controls work out well. RE4 on the wii was the best version because of its control scheme. But, the only real problem I have with them, is that they're unimmersive, and work against everything we've been going for. Controlers were and still are perfectly fine. Don't stick your dick in a pudding as yahtzee would say

Nah, I'm shake it all about.

Non-issue really. It's just another tool that devs have now, like a rumble feature. We'll get some clever ideas popping up using motion control. Some will stick, some will pass into obscurity.

Haven't seen much on the way of interesting games yet, so I'll wait for the cheaper versions of the motion control peripherals to come out later. Hopefully they'll be bundled with the great games that actually use these motion controls.

Im the same with resi 4, and games like house of the dead.

Thats why resi 5 move seems attracting, I may wanna play through it again if its like resi 4 wii.

i think they're great when used properly but the main reason most people hate them is because some developers are lazy and just put out things like crappy mini game bundles which due to the low cost and ease in making one takes up the majority of motion controlled games

never liked motion controls i am however open to them but they would need to do something pretty damn descent and would have to do it reasonably consistently to win me over

Of the 3, i've only played wii, and had my fill of motion controls. By themselves it's merely a gimmick. But it is a step towards something greater. Once they start combining them with things like a virtul reality helmet, bluetooth devices, and a physical feedback device like an advanced rumble pack, then we will truly see the next era in gaming.

In the meantime, controllers are still preferable imo.

Words cannot express how out I am. Motion controls are just a shitty gimmick, and I stand by that opinion. I like games just the way they are, until they can plug people in matrix-style (but without the plug in the back of the head) I wouldn't change it. (Although it'd be cool if you could get a USB keyboard and mouse for a ps3/360 if you prefer mouse aiming but don't want spend a shitload on a computer with a graphics card that's been pumped with steroids

I'm mostly out: the Wii is all the 'motion' I need for games. The Playstation and 360 versions are trying to get into an established market with the same idea, but a lot more costly.

I'm no financial wizard, but from the general reaction of the gaming community I've not seen a single person say "I'm totally hyped for this!"

Having experienced the Kinect, I can safely say that it should burn in only the most satanic of hells. I like the Wii, however many of the available titles are just about the motion and treat it as a gimmick, rather than a tool. The new Goldeneye game is fantastic, and I can't not love Monster Hunter tri.

Out. I'm sure they're fun at parties but 99% of my gaming is solitary and I've absolutely no desire to be flailing my arms around like an idiot. Besides the cat would look at me funny.

I'm out, but not because I jump on the "AWMAYGAWD MOTION IS TEH SUXORZ!!!" bandwagon all the 'cool kids' are on, but simply because I have yet to find games I want for my theoretical platform of choice, namely the PS3 Move.

As for the Wii, I'd love to have that one, but I don't have the money for it right now. Motion controls aside; Kirby's Epic Yarn, Metroid Prime 3, Red Steel 2, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (or whatever), Metroid: Other M, Donkey Kong, GoldenEye, there's plenty on it that I'd love to play, with or without motion controls.

Cats do that anyway, regardless of what you're doing.

In terms of the motion fad, I support it, in theory. It could lead to new, interesting and more immersive gaming experiences.
Though, it won't, because shitty shovelware is much easier to make and just as as profitable, if not moreso.

So, in practice... No I don't like the motion control fad.
I have a Wii, though, and I like it well enough.

I think that motion controls are to games what 3d technology is to films; something that companies seem to think is the future which I just can't comprehend or get into.

There just a gimmick, they'll be there until casual gamers flock to something else.
I've only got the Wii, and that's not too bad for what it is.
Laser arcade shooters, they definately count.
