Out. I hate the concept of the movement controllers. I don't mind the occasional game that tells you to shake your controller up and down or side to side, but a whole controller based on that concept bothers me.

I think it's good for little kids who have tons of energy and might not have the hand eye coordination to do the buttons without looking or the people who for some reason or another can't use regular controllers.

I've been playing videogames on the regular controllers since the NES. I've tried the Wii and it just felt awkward, lacked the control that you could get with a regular controller, and half the time the damn buttons didn't work.

Out, but with a careful eye on all of what is going on. I am not really a fan of motion controls at this point, but I do see the potential of what they carry and where they could possibly lead to. Plus the ROS hack that is being made for Kinect is pretty f***ing awesome. So much potential there...

I'm out. Motion controls are meant to enhance gameplay, but feels like it is a gimmick and most games on the Wii doesn't utilize the motion part. Also, most games with motion controls are poorly executed as well. Though I still like the Wii nonetheless. Also, IMO, the Kinect is just an over-glorified Eye Toy, and I didn't like the Eye Toy when I played at Wal-Mart. It wasn't fun.

I prefer joysticks and button mashing, old school but very effective.

A group of singing bandits?...I'm in.

OT: I haven't played anything on Move or Kinect. I'm pretty interested in Move, as I hear it's pretty fun. I just don't like that some games require 2 controllers per person. I'm not made of money! I probably wouldn't play Move by myself. Motion controls are a party play thing.

I liked the Wii. My mom has one and we used to play quite a bit.

I'm not a particular fan of motion controls. It's not really something for me. BUT, I do love the Sixaxis, and playing Wii without the motion plus thing. I'm definately not getting Move, and if I somehow am gonna use it, it'll be because I got it as a present or something. (Kinect is totally out of the question as I don't own an Xbox360).

I for one prefer to sit back and relax while playing games, not be waving my arms all over the goddarn place and risk dislocating my shoulder. >_>

1.It´s an interesting technology that makes gaming more accessible to a wider audience.I like it
2.Not yet. But i´ve tried both wii and move.Move is more responsive, wii has better games. I have yet to try kinect.
3. Move. It may lack the games to support the system, but i bet that´ll change. I was very satisfied to see how responsive it was compared to wii.

Definitely out, unless they invent some kinda helmet which takes you inside the game, lol.

I just cant see myself jumping up and down in front of my tv. In my opinion it would in some way probably degrade the stories and writing if every game becomes about motion controllers.

motion control is "new" to many people so it is obviously not going to be the best it can be.

it needs to be worked on to be the best it can. right now it seems very much the working of a cash cow for people new to video games.
I do not own either the move or kinect but i do own a wii and wii fit plus. courtesy of my mum wanting to get healthier but never uses it. so i use it for more download content.

i do not have a favourite because i have never even played with a kinect of move.

I do not think that motion control will get rid of controllers any time soon. and also i like my controllers.

I have no plans on buying any motion control accessories. It's a gimmick, it's extremely clunky right now, and it won't last much longer. I had a Wii for about 6 months after Smash Brawl came out. I gave it away because there were literally zero other games that were even remotely interesting on the horizon.

motion controls are a nice little side toy like the ddr dance mat or the guitar hero guitar and do show promise but i'd still take a good old controller for things like rpgs and fps games can you imagine how awkward a kinect fps would be?

I can't say I'm a big fan of this motion control craze. I think it's a bit of a fad by console games to provide some kind of experience that can't be met by new gaming venues (smartphones, casual online games, etc.). It's just like major release motion pictures pushing 3-D right now which is something this generation of TVs can't do quite well (I'd suggest 3-D movies aren't particularly good either, but that's another story).

I didn't purchase any of the new ones, and I don't intend to at this time. Though if I had to pick one that seems to be doing things right is still the Wii.

Personally, I'd rather give up gaming altogether than start using motion controls. I play games to relax, not to wave my arms around like a child throwing a tantrum.

I don't mind them, but they don't interest me in the slighest. However at the moment, console controllers and other HID's are far more precise and efficient when doing things, be it playing games, manipulating information on your computer screen etc.

I'd give it a few years when the technology could be perfected.

Whats your opinion on motion controls?
I don't mind the concept but am not really anywhere near "in" at the moment. Give me deep complete games that are honestly motion control required and we'll talk but, until then and despite my basic interest, motion control is just a gimmick to me. Attaching a button command to a somewhat related waggle or using the motion control in some other way that has already been done as well or better by another input device is not good motion control, sorry.

Did you get any of the new ones? what are they like?
I had a Wii and didn't like it for anything other than Wii Sports.

Whats your favourite one (wii included)
I don't have a Kinect but, to me, it's the one as the most promising to be used (almost by necessity) as something more than just waggle and point style motion controls.

I'm definitely out. I play games to be something that I'm not in real life; I don't have the physical capabilities to perform certain actions, and making peripherals that require me to use my body only reminds me of my real life limitations. Motion controls are a step backwards in gaming immersion.

However, there is one interesting thing about the Kinect. After seeing this video, I wonder just how far we can go with 3d holographic cameras.

My view is the Wii made me stop loving Nintendo. I hope their next console has proper controllers.
Basically this. And it killed the Metroid Prime trilogy for me too.

Buuut, I see some good in motion controls, especially the Move and Kinect's more refined/interesting controls. I definitely see the potential for really interesting fun games outside of the kinda stupid party games they have going on right now (the gladiator fight thing for the Move is a good example of awesomeness.) However, I'm not going to pay $100+ to have the privilege of playing what're essentially party games.

I see motion controls as being the funny little brother of regular controls. You shouldn't get the idea that any game can be adapted to motion controls and because they're an interesting gimmick people should buy them. Rather, you should be making games that bring out the interesting part of motion controls. Games that can still be good, but are centred around having fun. You could even fit in a fair bit of "games as an art form" around it. But you can't stick them in everything: the controller will still be far superior when it comes to games that are more involved in timing or immersion. And this kind of genre is still a majority of the game population, and will probably be even more so as games get more into immersion and acting as a proper art form. But that still leaves considerable space for motion controls to have their own kinds of games. I guess the only problem I see is the shoehorning that Nintendo's done with all the Wii games; if the PS3 and Xbox360 can keep a balance between controller games that require controllers, and motion control games that make the best use of motion controls to simply have fun with it, then I have no problem with motion controls and will probably be picking up a move next year. But if they either stick with the really stupid games or start cutting into games which motion controls have a serious negative effect on, then I'll just be out of it.

I still love Twilight Princess' motion controls. I felt so badass in that first battle on the Bridge of Eldin, I think I swung the controller and then struck a pose. The sword maneuvers you can unlock feel great too. I feel like I'm one of just a few with this opinion, though, as many people called these things "tacked on". Whatever, I loved it.

I expect good things from the Wii for the rest of its life now that it will have to step up its games because Microsoft and Sony are in the motion control business as well.

Until the kinks get worked out of the motion recognition, I'm not really interested in either.
The Wii hasn't sold me on the concept, and I'm certain that Kinect nor Move will do the same.

First off, this thread sounds like something you say before a massive heist."Are you in, or out?"

Second I'm out man.
