It's being written by Joss Whedon, someone who's shown he can write pretty good dialog, have likable characters and generally construct plots that are both epic but still focused on the charcters. This in stark contrast to Transformers and Star Wars prequels which were written by hacks. Whedon has his flaws but something like this is perfect for him.j-e-f-f-e-r-s said:I don't exactly see what makes this any better than Bayformers or the Star Wars prequels.
Fair enough... But in most cases, the movie is a pet project of a director with a lot of stars eager to work with him (like Sin City), has a strong vision and credibility in the industry (like Mars Attack) or are a group of friend stars that want to have fun and have the audience as witnesses (like Ocean's Eleven). This movie is neither of those...rollerfox88 said:I see...you think there will be a behind-the-scenes battle of egos as well as an on-screen one? Probably true, but when is there ever a film with more than one major lead where that isnt the case...hermes200 said:Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I mean the shooting, editing and screenplay will be a huge battle of egos (now that Norton is out, maybe a little less)...rollerfox88 said:Yes it will - that was one of the main points of the trailer. But theyll learn to work together etc etc etc.hermes200 said:I think the whole thing will be a huge battle of egos
OT: I have just marked April 26th on the calendar, and told my girlfriend that because I went to see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with her (terrible film) she has to come with me to see this.
Oh, I probably should have made this clear, because I agree with you. I don't want the entire story laid out in the trailer, because then whats the point of seeing the film (EVERY god damn trailer for a romcom does this. I hate it!)? But I also don't want to see every major sequence cut down into three second chunks. Trailers are supposed to build anticipation for a film, right? That is the intent right? I get tired of seeing trailers that destroy all desire to see a film by showing too much of it.4RM3D said:Opinions may vary on this subject. But I think a trailer shouldn't spoil too much. Instead they should leave the trailer intentionally vague, but still interesting. I have seen a lot of trailers practically explaining the whole story. That is even worse.
Also, the money spent on this movie isn't because of the story, but because of the actors and the special effects. So it is only natural to show that aspect in the trailer.
That's definitely one of my concerns as well. It makes sense, since Iron Man is easily the most popular character in the movie, but I'm hoping right now they're just playing up his part in the trailers as an advertising gimmick. Also, the shots of Iron Man hitting Thor look edited together, so they're probably taken from a longer fight scene where I would guess that Thor dominates. Hopefully. They're also probably going to nerf Thor in the movie so that the other heroes aren't useless.airrazor7 said:Wait, @ 2:22, did I see Stark beating up Thor? ... the heck? I'm guessing the movie is going to explain the god's lack of strength.
I've been looking forward to the movie for a while but on that note about Stark, in my opinion the most interesting parts of the trailer featured Iron Man and so I'm wondering if this movie is going to feel more like Iron Man 3 (yes, I know there is an actual Iron Man 3 coming up) with hero cameos than an assembled team of varied heroes.
I second that motion. However, by the looks of the trailer, the Atlantians being the villains would be a shot in the dark. I really hope it isn't the skrulls because then there would not be an opportunity to make films based on Civil War, Secret Invasion [Embrace Change] [http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u231/greg-23/SinghArune-ECMomDaughter_800x600.jpg?t=1242490913] and a proper build-up towards a skrull war/invasion.Operation Genesis said:I really hope that they don't use the villains from the Ultimates comic book. While I do really like the first two parts of that series, I think they should keep to the regular comics for the Avengers' first movie. Personally, I'm rooting for the villains to be Atlantians, with maybe an after-credits scene with Namor. But I'm also pretty sure I'm the -only- person who would actually want that.
By golly, this trailer gives the impression that it might not be the Tony Stark show!4RM3D said:What are your thoughts?
