I think way too many people have too high expectations on this so when it is releassed and everyone stands outside the theater jerking off they won't be satisfied with the movie because they think it will blow their minds, twice. So when it only does it once it's a bad thing.

I don't exactly see what makes this any better than Bayformers or the Star Wars prequels.
It's being written by Joss Whedon, someone who's shown he can write pretty good dialog, have likable characters and generally construct plots that are both epic but still focused on the charcters. This in stark contrast to Transformers and Star Wars prequels which were written by hacks. Whedon has his flaws but something like this is perfect for him.

I think the whole thing will be a huge battle of egos
Yes it will - that was one of the main points of the trailer. But theyll learn to work together etc etc etc.

OT: I have just marked April 26th on the calendar, and told my girlfriend that because I went to see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with her (terrible film) she has to come with me to see this.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I mean the shooting, editing and screenplay will be a huge battle of egos (now that Norton is out, maybe a little less)...
I see...you think there will be a behind-the-scenes battle of egos as well as an on-screen one? Probably true, but when is there ever a film with more than one major lead where that isnt the case...
Fair enough... But in most cases, the movie is a pet project of a director with a lot of stars eager to work with him (like Sin City), has a strong vision and credibility in the industry (like Mars Attack) or are a group of friend stars that want to have fun and have the audience as witnesses (like Ocean's Eleven). This movie is neither of those...

It looks awesome, my only complaint is that Hawke Eye and Black Widow seem... well useless when standing next to Iron Man, Thor ect.

Opinions may vary on this subject. But I think a trailer shouldn't spoil too much. Instead they should leave the trailer intentionally vague, but still interesting. I have seen a lot of trailers practically explaining the whole story. That is even worse.

Also, the money spent on this movie isn't because of the story, but because of the actors and the special effects. So it is only natural to show that aspect in the trailer.
Oh, I probably should have made this clear, because I agree with you. I don't want the entire story laid out in the trailer, because then whats the point of seeing the film (EVERY god damn trailer for a romcom does this. I hate it!)? But I also don't want to see every major sequence cut down into three second chunks. Trailers are supposed to build anticipation for a film, right? That is the intent right? I get tired of seeing trailers that destroy all desire to see a film by showing too much of it.

Unfortunately, I don't feel that this Avengers trailer does a good enough job at building anticipation. I know I might get lynched for saying that but I personally cant get excited for this film, based on this trailer.

Who posted this trailer? The Polish? Whoever did is getting the movie over a week earlier. It says April 24th, in both the video and the description...

Anyway, it looks amazing. Best trailer so far.

I really do not like Captain America's costume, it is ghastly.

Aside from that small quibble, good trailer. Good to see Ironman on form, he is by far my favourite character of Marvel (speaking only of films, both my love of Downey and the portrayal, I know nothing of comics).

I need to rewatch Thor I think, I watched it without paying much attention and don't remember enjoying it. Hopefully a repeat viewing will change that.

I am also reminded of my disappointment that Norton is not Hulk.

Wait, @ 2:22, did I see Stark beating up Thor? ... the heck? I'm guessing the movie is going to explain the god's lack of strength.

I've been looking forward to the movie for a while but on that note about Stark, in my opinion the most interesting parts of the trailer featured Iron Man and so I'm wondering if this movie is going to feel more like Iron Man 3 (yes, I know there is an actual Iron Man 3 coming up) with hero cameos than an assembled team of varied heroes.

This trailer has brought me immense joy and not only because it's awesome. My best friend, who is never interested when I babble about superheroes and comics, was all like 'Well Thor is clearly the best the others are just there to help him'. The conversation sort of escalated from there.

And that is how I discovered that my cynical, ascerbic and super serious best mate has a huge man crush on Thor.

So many LOLs

That's definitely one of my concerns as well. It makes sense, since Iron Man is easily the most popular character in the movie, but I'm hoping right now they're just playing up his part in the trailers as an advertising gimmick. Also, the shots of Iron Man hitting Thor look edited together, so they're probably taken from a longer fight scene where I would guess that Thor dominates. Hopefully. They're also probably going to nerf Thor in the movie so that the other heroes aren't useless.

Anyways, other general problems I have are Captain America's atrocious new costume. I get that he's supposed to look like a more traditional costumed hero, but his WWII suit was sooo much better.

Norton not being in it doesn't bug me much anymore. While I like Norton, I also feel like Ruffalo is a worthy replacement, and am more than willing to wait until I see the movie to make a judgement on him.

I really hope that they don't use the villains from the Ultimates comic book. While I do really like the first two parts of that series, I think they should keep to the regular comics for the Avengers' first movie. Personally, I'm rooting for the villains to be Atlantians, with maybe an after-credits scene with Namor. But I'm also pretty sure I'm the -only- person who would actually want that.

I second that motion. However, by the looks of the trailer, the Atlantians being the villains would be a shot in the dark. I really hope it isn't the skrulls because then there would not be an opportunity to make films based on Civil War, Secret Invasion [Embrace Change] [http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u231/greg-23/SinghArune-ECMomDaughter_800x600.jpg?t=1242490913] and a proper build-up towards a skrull war/invasion.

If Namor were to be added to a future Avengers film, it would mean they'd have to up the ante with the script/story since Namor isn't the type of character who can be easily classified as a hero or villain. If I remember correctly, when Namor first appeared he was an opponent to the avengers and later became an honorary member of sorts. Even later he became a member of the Illuminati along side characters such as Xavier and Dr. Strange.

Something like that could have us looking forward to some very interesting plot driven films.

While it gets released in Australia on May 4th, I don't care because that's my birthday. Guess what I'm doing on that day.
