I think this is a form of reverse psychology and aversion therapy by the Escapist Rulers, to give us sooooo many badges that we are swamped by them and thus they lose meaning to us. Why they would want this, I do not know.
But what I do know is that I have over 18 messages in my inbox, congratulation me of new badges. And looking upon the requirements for some, I can't help but think "I did this too? And they are 'awarding' me for it? Why on earth are they doing that?"

It keeps making me think that people finally like me, and want to message/quote me, telling me so... such unrealistic dreams were made for the sole purpose of being crushed.
I was literally thinking the exact same thing after opening 3 badge messages, and then I looked and saw this thread in the hot topics.
Same here, I only watched 2 (and even then, partially) and I got a badge for watching 5 of them. On the other hand I've seen all the Doomsday Arcade ones and did not get all the badges.Scrythe said:

Trust me, the admins of the badge hunters group have been working really hard because of this, especially Nivag and Diagonal Horizontality.
I have 20 badges now solely for content, and I don't even view them as that worthwhile a badge, seeing as you only need to hit the play button on the video and not bother watching it or just click the link to the article and not even have to read it.
Also, I think these could be pretty easy badges to farm as well, seeing as I got 20 in about 3 days.
Oh well, I just hope it will die down as Susan says it will.

Yeah they deffinitely put out some bland and easyily gotten badges. I don't really care, but I'm slightly dissapointed that none of them even made me laugh.
They're cool to show what shows you're a fan of. Like, I have the one for watching 25 episodes of Unskippable. Therefore, people can tell that I'm a big fan of Unskippable. I can tell the same for fans of other series as well. It is kind of annoying to have a million messages in my inbox, though. I keep thinking people are quoting me or I'm getting a message from someone. I see 5 unread messages and then see that they're for reading some articles. A bit over the top, but a badge is a badge is a badge, right?
