The new badges: getting a little over the top?

I feel the same way about Apocalypse Lane and Rebecca Mayes. They likely are quite enjoyable, but I haven't watched either of them and I'm getting badges for watching themmessy said:

It's very arbitrary in my opinion, plus it doesn't really take any effort to watch the videos. I preferred it when I had to post for weeks to get a new badge, then I felt some satisfaction over it. It's like they're giving you motivation to watch a video series, when the appeal of the series itself should be enough. I'm probably never going to watch there will be brawl, and no amount of badges will change that in my mind.
The thing that irritates me the most about this is that it's misleading; for example, I have read every single Stolen Pixels, but only got the "5 episodes" badge, because most of them I read without logging in (or via the RSS reader, which can't log in).
And with only four badge "slots" it's a tough call between showing some of these new ones and some of the harder-to-get ones. Maybe we should get more slots too?

I'd prefer if videos only give you 2-3 badges rather than a lot. Also is there a bounty hunter/ ban-hammer wielding-barbarian badge for getting a certain amount of people reported and banned?
wait what??? Nyuuuuuu! D: I thought the entire point of the new badges was to encourage people to watch stuff other than ZP? Having badges for watching ZP would be pointless as virtually everyone on the site does so anyway! The large majority of the people who initially sign up for this website (myself included) is mainly because of ZP... wouldn't it be better to have a single "welcome" badge, for initially signing up the The Escapist, instead of having another huge mound for the number of ZP video's you have seen? Not at all. I think they're fun. Why shouldn't you get badges for using the site the way you're supposed to? Isn't that the whole idea?
