Yes yes, we've gone over that. Home is a step for consoles as I don't recall any sort of social interactivity on a console like this before , it doesn't matter if it was on PC before this.

Well, they did keep on saying that you had to pay for Home or compared it to free applications on the PC. Just sayin' is all...
No, I know it's free. It just seemed like the guy was saying people would buy a PS3 based on this feature, as it would be a viable alternative to a PC. That is what I don't agree with.
Sorry, must have misinterpreted what you said/were saying. But I did see the "will people really want to shell out [insert amount here] for this thing?" or something similar.

Really it stems from the whole "piracy" issue... and IMO Sony is sooooo far ahead of the industry that it's only a matter of time before the makers of the content that is being STOLEN jump onto their ship (watch movies before released in Home as an example, even though some prick will try and record and sell it). Ofcourse, until the only way to enjoy multi-media online is by having a subscription and a PC on the other "server side" checking the systems for pirated materials, this is the closest "they" can get to stopping what is DESTROYING movies, games, and music ATM. Again... evolutionary IMO.

Still say it's just another overhyped and unintuitive part of an overhyped and unintuitive console system. In the future the things Sony did may be built on for resounding success, but it will be achieved through a more elegant REFINEMENT of Sony's current approach which seems to be to throw highpowered technoligy and money at everything.

Evolutionary? Perhaps.

Revolutionary? No.

Agree with everything but the first statement.

Joe should get a real internet, which actually has stuff on it. Lotsa stuff.

and porn. Lotsa porn.
I wonder if Sony'll have porn at Home. As in, "I'm going Home to get some porn. Be back in an hour." Joe seems lonely and impotent. He should give me his PS3 and then stand in the middle of a freeway waiting for "God to take me home."
I say that we all agree that porn is awesome, there is no more need for argument on that. Home probably won't have porn, they said as much.

Oh, and fuck Joe.

May I ask why, if the PS3 is this is this holy grail of gaming you're claiming it to be Mr. WTEricson, is it so far losing the console wars with such a huge difference?

Please don't boast about how brilliant your console is or I'll start talking about my 360 and how it kicks everything's ass because it does and you know it baby. ;P

Non of the console's are losing, it's barely started. Seriously, people should know better than to just say "oh, [insert system here] isn't selling to well. It MUST be losing".

With many interesting titles coming up for the PS3 (I don't care if they don't interest you in the least, keep your mind open) in the christmas season and in 2009, anything is possible for the big black box now.

Now can we please lock this thread?

Losing doesn't mean that it's lost or is going to lose, it means it's not winning. In terms of winning the console wars you have to sell the most which as it stands the PS3 has sold the least ipso facto it's not winning.

You know what would make the PS3 a lot more compelling for me? If it had an application store and open development for the hardware like Google's Android.
I'd get one if it had that. As of now, I have no compelling reason to get a PS3, since almost all of the console games I want to play on it are on the 360 too.

They would rather be "winning" as you say ofcourse... IMO they will soon. But their master plan is to try to get some money back from "piracy", I'm not sure how much they lose a year.. but it's a hell of alot more than the money they have lost in selling PS3s at a LOSE. Which makes sense when you really think about Home and the movie theaters. Sony is gonna push sooooo much advertising when home is ready. When you see a zhitload of Home/LBP , Home/R2, Home/KZ2...ect. comercials I want you to know I FUCKING CALLED IT.

CAPITALS ARE ANNOYING.

[/irony]

Secondly, why'd you get excited about advertisements in your console. When programmes cut into commercials I don't round up my family to watch them because they're a feat of awe striking brilliance, it just breaks you from the immersion.

Cutting in is implying they get in the way.. which they don't, or that they are forced... which you can turn them off so they aren't. Also, alot people emjoy commercials the first few times if they are "entertaining" (Superbowl). Sorry about the caps earlier, it was a reference from a Zero Punctuation review... this is the only forum I'de dare to use it on.

I do appreciate the intelligent questions without insults though Ricky

Can we get on the subject of what Home "might" need to add or something along the lines of productive thinking please?

Don't need porn in home IMO... would hurt the demographic. But on the possitive side the PSBrowser DLs every porn video I ever found.... and trust me... thats ALOT :p

Can you turn off advertisements in it or are you suggesting that you can just turn off the console if adverts offend you?

Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean that this is basically Second Life.
It seems more like an internet in an internet to me. Which is what I did in Second Life. Virtual computers displaying virtual anything. It was very versatile. Only problem was that we could't buy land to dump the virtual servers on. Seriously, no joke.

Good point, the app reminds me of my time playing WoW (crack cocaine of games). It be nice if they take notice of LBP populatity (never seen anyone love a beta/demo so much, shit... ppl are still playing it a week after getting it... and it's just the demo). If they could just do user created "worlds" with the graphics from Home...

I can dream, be like WoW without waiting 2 years for expansions. Well, they are the guys that made EQ so I guess it's "possible". Too bad everyone says EQ2 sucks in comparison to the original. You tell me though, never was to deap into the creating aspect of games.

Is it even possible to user create a WoW experience?
