I always thought Blizzard had the best PC game trailers, but then they made the Cataclysm trailer, and Bioware made this:

If only Bioware was put in charge of Star Wars Episodes 1 through 3, maybe they wouldn't have sucked.

To all those inevitable "THE GAME WILL LOOK NOTHING LIKE THIS!" screamers, I just have to say DUH. That doesn't make this trailer any less epic.

Hot on the heels of the Sith Warrior, Jedi Knight, and Bounty Hunter, this trailer brings the Jedi Consular, the Trooper, and the Sith Inquisitor to cinematic glory. Next up, hopefully the Smuggler and Sith Agent!

the Old republic has proven that at least it has the best trailers of any game ever. I also whole hardheartedly agree that Bioware writers would have produced a far better script for the prequels, plus it would almost certainly have replaced Jar Jar and C3PO with HK-47,(He has almost certainly survived to that time) which would be total WIN.

Yep... one-week rendered Blizzard trailers are nothing compared to that package of awesome.

Although I don't like how Jedis are growing exponentially stronger with every Star Wars game. Remember the Jedi Knight series? You spent half of the second one with only guns. A short time ago we had The Force Unleashed where the little guy blows a hall apart like it's nothing.
However, the Old Republic trailer made me wet my pants nevertheless.

I do have a few nits with the trailer though, mainly the general lack of dismemberment from the lightsabers. I know the devs seem to want to keep it pg, but come on even the the "kids movie" Star wars had no problems with sending limbs flying at every opportunity. Another problem is the scene in which the trooper wrestles the sith lord, then arms a grenade between the two. I fully expected the resulting explosion to incinerate both combatants, but lo and behold, both stand up, dust themselves off, obviously uninjured. Even more amazing, the trooper who just detonated a futuristic explosive device in his tightly clenched right fist still possesses said limb! the very next scene shows him using his obviously uninjured right hand to shoot a flare gun! yet another problem is that the jedi knight uses a massive blast of telekinetic force powers to kill the sith lord. WTF! jedi are strictly prohibited from using the force to directly kill. period. to do so is considered dark side (hmmm plot twist? is the jedi being tempted by the dark side?)

still an awesome trailer though

Yeah, the Mass Effect 2 trailer was mind-bogglingly epic as well, so maybe Blizzard has some competition for the trailer crown.

It bothers me how they are growing stronger too, but I believe this trailer is a MAJOR step in the RIGHT direction compared to the bullshit the last major Star Wars game pulled:

Based on the grenade blast it seemed like some sort of EMP grenade, it only burned them and blasted them apart, but yeah, I expected both of them to die too.

I don't see anything wrong with her killing him, they were facing an ARMY of Sith

-A Jedi was permitted to kill in self-defense?only if there was no other option.

They just basically destroyed a city, and the Jedi Code also states:

- A Jedi must protect the weak and defenseless from evil.

Inaction would be in violation of their duty to protect the defenseless from evil, and once they began defending them, the Sith's actions (not surrendering, but slaughtering) allowed her to kill because it was in self defense.

jedi have been known to kill in times of war and other types of crisis like the lightside ending for KOTOR and in the beggining of the KOTOR comics also your point about jedi considering killing a path to the darkside reminded me of a qoute from Atton in KOTOR2 "jedi are pacifists except in times of war, teachers except when it comes to telling their students the truth OT the trailer looks absoloutely amazing

Any one familiar with the Expanded universe lore will know that the force powers featured in the movies pale in comparison to the powers some could achieve. Exar Kun detonated STARS with his mind, and as a Force ghost 5000 years later was still powerful enough to almost kill Luke. Darth Plaguse could resurrect the dead, Jacen Solo could travel time, and Luke Skywalker, by the end was basically a demigod. though I agree that SWTFU went too far in force powers. So all in all I think The Old Republic actually just about nailed it.
