The Onion Rates the Best Games of the Decade

I can agree with most of their list, but how they worked out that Final Fantasy 12 was one of the games of the decade is beyond me. It has to be the poorest of the series that I've played, and doing away with random battles doesn't even come close to saving it.

While i know every list is subjective no-one who has even a slight bit of sense can pick bioshock up and say it is a better example of the fps genre than hl2. It uses gameplay INVENTED in halflife and the only thing improved over hl2 is the graphics. Don't get me wrong i really like bioshock and it is a good fps but it isn't better than hl2

I'm amazed that any FF game (besides maybe 6 or 7) made ANY 'Best Games EVAR' list. Though now that I learn they got rid of random battles, I might give it a look.

I'd actually agree with most of their top 10, I like the way they include a MMORGG in their list too which should be number one for absorbing peoples souls.

you actually have to ritually sacrifice your soul to WoW, if you play it right its fucking fun.

and of the 5 games ranked above WoW, 2 of them are worth playing, while a third has that sort of plot twist that owns, although WoW has similar twists to that also

Ok, i can see some of these games on a "Good Games" list, but not the BEST games of 2000s. nononono. I am a giant fan of Bioshock, but i dont think it deserves a Number 1 spot. And SSX 3 is on there? Why??? But, i do like how both Portal and L4d are on it. Well, whatcanyado? Ill just wait for more lists.

Wow! The Onion didn't make this a satire list! As much as I'm upset that Fallout 3 is Number 3, Red Alert 2 is not up there and Advance Wars is number 11, (grrrr) I have to agree with most of it.

Other than BioShock and Fallout 3 I haven't liked any of those games, and Final Fantasy 12 should NOT be on that list. That games is awful.

I see a lot of angry nerds here. That list wasn't based off of your likes and dislikes, but more games that influenced the genre all together. If you try to make an argument that the Sims or WoW shouldn't be on their, you should kindly roll a angsty nerd check and walk away.

About the only two I agree with are ICO and Bioshock I cant take a list that puts Portal on it seriously I'm sorry but a three hour game cannot take a position like best of anything especially wiht next to no replay value, and Braid? Seriously its okay but it's essentialy a prince of persia reskin.

Portal someday will be looked back on as an important part of the games/art dividing line.
I would have also put The Path up there, but then again, I am an art major. XD

Where is Civilization 4 on that list? Or RTS games for that matter? Surely C&C Generals should beat Advance Wars?

Some of those games I can understand, but some choices are just plain incomprehensible. Oh well, situation normal then, when it comes to 'best games' lists.

I think San Andreas should have been in there. I actually cared about some of the characters, and it had halarious writing. Maybe that's just me.

Some belonged on that list, but dammit all, they had so many bad games there. And Bioshock is hardly the best game since 2000. Awesome, sure, a great and immersive shooter secretly propagating for Ayn Rand-esque capitalism. But it's certainly not the best.
