I always remembered your username because I love LOTR too, and because it's such a funny contrast with your avatar, which is about as un-hobbity as it gets!

It's a good one, don't change it.

Mine is a bit obvious, I think so I'm not going to bother explaining to anyone who has ever played a game where it comes from! And I just like it as a username.
Pardon my ignorance but what is it from? I always just though your name was Jen and then something to do with Novas!
Please tell me you are joking :'-(
I don't know how to copy/paste pics on here so here is a link

It's the name of a song I wrote, 'The Miracle of Sound' about music and sex (the two best things in life) and it's also a reference to Soundwave, hence the avatar.
Indeed. And they compliment each other quite well.
Only if the right music is picked though... haha

No joke. Nothing like gettin' down to business only to have Tracy Chapman come along and sing about spousal abuse. Such a downer. That's what the romancin' mix on my iPod is for. No surprises there!
Lol... yeah I like Tracy but I certainly would never have her on, um, in the background so to speak... gimmme a bit of Massive Attack or Goldfrapp instead.
Ooh, good choices. Toss in a little bit of the old school Tangerine Dream and some Black Dog... maybe just a dash of Bjork - you have to be careful with her, she can sometimes go to strange places with her lyrics - and I think we have at least half my list covered.
Ah... I love Bjork. Love her to bits, the crazy little imp.

Now if you will excuse me I have to go grab my GF and, um, have dinner....

Off with you then! No time to waste! I have to wait a few hours yet for my... dinner. My better half won't get off for another few hours. And no, that was not a pun.

My name... It came from when I made a youtube account and couldn't think of a name, then this flashed up on the security check, BOOM, name.

It generated back around 2006 when I had first gotten a PC capable of playing... some games.

Key word is 'some' games. In specific, Final Fantasy XI. I needed a name for my character who was a Tarutaru and I wanted something unique but I couldn't drum up anything...

Sitting next to me was a copy of Okami, and one of my favorite characters in the game was Issun, especially near the end because of various spoiler reasons you should play to find out.

I put issun at the end and worked from there. I liked the name Kyo and I went with 'gi' to connect it together.

Thus, Kyogissun was created. I've been using it ever since because it's a bright and shining moment of creativity in my life.

As for my PSN ID, it's a combination of the same Okami, using just Oka and Kagamin, the nickname Konata from Lucky Star used for another main character. Oka-gamin. I would have gone with Kyogissun... Had I not lost my password and account info for the account with that name. >_<
Do you study Japanese? You seem very well-read in it.
No actually, I just... Try to make things 'sound' like they're of that descent.

I have a feeling that the username has no actual meaning in their language or if it does, it makes absolutely no sense.

But thanks for the compliment. Aside from maybe having the capability of singing a couple anime openings/endings pretty well, I have no knowledge of how to speak japanese whatsoever.

I do hope to take a class in it some day though. Even though my fascination primarily extends around anime, manga, visual novels, their games... Well, primarily just their entertainment outlets, it would be nice to know how to speak it.

...Though I have no idea if I will ever be able to write/understand the written language. Based on what my friend has told me, kanji can be a royal pain in the ass. And with my attention span jumping back and forth to the enjoyment of a slow and well paced conversation focused drama animation to something high energized and off the wall, it'd be up in the air if I'd have the patience for it.

A play on my name, with the customary 1337 addition for the fun of it. (I'm not 1337 I just thought it looked nice after my name).

Ragnorak=In Norse mythology, the "Battle of the End"
Tres=French for "very" or "really"

My brother's band did a song called "Tres" on their first album and it was my favorite song for a long time. I've always been interested in mythology in general (my copy of Bullfinch's Mythology has more earmarks in it than the ocean has currents) and Norse mythology in particular. I was looking for a username to become known by (on this site, apropos enough; my previous one, v01kn, seemed somehow low-brow here, being merely a variation on "volk," Russian for wolf.) and "RagnorakTres" just kind of...rolled into town, wearing a beat-up old duster and a cowboy hat. It's been my username ever since, and it's served me in good stead. It's easy to shorten in FPS games ("Got you covered, Rag.") and original enough (or eclectic enough) to have not been picked anywhere I've used it.

Might want to elaborate on that, if only for the uninitiated. Not everybody's played TWEWY, it is kind of a niche game...>.> I enjoyed it, but that's 'cause I'm a singer. And I've played an RP (Avatar Adventures) with Sho in it. Kid's crazy. Crazy awesome, but crazy.

There is a word my friend often uses to describe something he dislikes, and I had a desire to make it sound silly... hence, CackAttack. Much lulz ensued from this name.

However, it was while playing Planetside and developing a name for myself with virtually any anti-air weapon in the game, ESPECIALLY flak weapons, which are known for their difficulty to use (like the Skyguard and TR MAX) that led one guy to say "Jesus, your name should be more like FlakAttack, amirite?"

I also happen to a pro with shotguns, the Unreal Tournament Flak Cannon, and BF1942's flak guns... all these things made the name stick. It has been many years now. Unfortunately, I can't always get the name as it is sometimes taken, but that's pretty rare and usually only happens on overpopulated messes like Xbox Live.

Mine is pretty old, traced back to futzing around with StarCraft's StarEdit as a kid and making a few Campaign missions to test my skill. I elected to give a Terran Battlecruiser a unique name in the editor, and "Hellbird" seemed fitting for a warship. Then, taking inspiration from the in-game Norad II, I added "IV" to the end of the name.

Some time later (It may in fact have been the same day) I took my first steps onto Battle.net, and decided to take "Hellbird" as my handle. However, a day or so later I forgot the password to my "Hellbird" account, and instead created a new one... As "HellbirdIV".

It kinda just stuck since then.

My PSN is "p-nutbuter" because I was jumping from one name to another on my DS and I eventually came up with "peanutbutter" (now it's "DEADalredy") however, I didn't have enough room, so I got rid of p ea nutbut t er, added a "-" and there you have it. I also use it on MGS4 online (it's "SOULLESS" on portable ops+).

My Steam is "The_man_in_the_hoodie" because I am never seen without a hooded jacket. Also, it would have been "The_man_in_the_hood" but I thought it may be missleading

And finally, my Escapist name is what it is because I like Disgaea and I thought no one else thought of it, and I was right.

I got mine from my star wars geekness and my love of austin powers!

Darth from star wars and sea bass as in ill tempered mutant sea bass from austin powers!

I first coined it with the help of my cousin in 2005 when i was thinking of a character name for my first char in guild wars and i've tried to use it every time i register on any site since.

On the Escapist? Random.

On the Xbox? SoA was my Clan, but I got out of that scene fast, and don't have the money to change it to "Mrsnugglesworth" (If that hasn't been taken)

My Handle here as Altorin is my oldest one, and I think it was originally a Dungeons and Dragons character that spawned from nowhere, I really don't remember, it was like 15 years ago.

My gamertag, Volent g1, comes from my old WoW character (Volent, which was word play with my girlfriend's character Maleve, we were Malevolent), and g1 because ScrewAttack.com ftw?

Well for my gamertag, Maverick945, I had watched Top Gun for the first time and loved it. With the movie still buzzing in my head, and my brand new xbox at my feet and my friends telling me to make an account, I make the stupid idea to call it after Tom Cruises character, Maverick. i should have used another, but it grew on me and now it just wouldn't be the same if I changed it, so Maverick945 it stays.

(whitty name here) was just a lazy username that I found somewhat humorous at the time to make. It makes as a nice backup now if Maverick945 has already been taken on whatever I'm registering for. The Escapist was the site I invented it on though.
