Iridium. IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE!
No really it did , earth have low natural iridium. But meteors have higher iridium count
so if you find lot of Iridium its a meteoroid that have crashed there ( or nearby).
Thus is why where the cretaceous period ends with such a high iridium count.

H - Hydrogen, becasue simpler is better.

or, being a bit patriotic when it comes to science: Bh - Bohrium.

My favorite element is...a tie.
A rather obvious tie, too, between Uranium and Neon. Those two elements are awesome in their own ways. One gets awesome explosions of doom, and the other is just cool because it glows when excited, and it will not blow up in your face. The contrast between the two reactions is also nice.
Those.

And everything that reacts with water:

K - potassium

I just remember the demonstrations with the water and the purple flame, 'twas epic.

Next would have to be Ar - argon

Just a word i can't seem to get out of my head at the moment. ^^

Fe, Iron.
Because it's the heaviest element a star can produce. Before it dies spectacularly.

Pb - PlumBUM - heavy shit (and stupid name).

But seriously... maybe the good old H -hydrogenium elegance in simplicity. Just one proton, one electron, react with a lot of crap, lightest atom... oh and MAIN INGREDIENT OF LIFE AND POWER ITSELF.

Yea this was a bad thread to make, in light of the season in schools at the moment. Didn't really think about that when I made it ;-D

I like Xenon. Mostly because of the name. Also, Ununquadium, for being so badass. (?)

Hydrogen or something... because it makes up the SUN!

Also, these elements:

Where's Mass Effect? There's actually a whole science behind the title (plus it's a wicked good series). Or is it there and I'm just really blind?
If I remember right, it goes something along the lines of using 'dark energy' to propel objects to go FTL and/or exposing it to the right elements will cause it to expand so much it'll create a new universe (and probably kill us in the process). Shit, I need to look all that junk up again. Or just watch Sci vs Fi: Mass Effect, they had a dude explain it there.

Uh, anyway I guess gold [Au79 196.966569(4)] because I like the latin name for it (aurum meaning "shining dawn") and oxygen [O8 15.9994(3)] becuase I enjoy that little thing called breathing.

Helium or Hyrdogen.

Mainly because they're highest on the list. Don't ask why I find that endearing.
I actually get this. I always thought of the Periodic table as a kind of crown, and those elements are the tips of the crown. They are kind of special because of that.

As for my favorites, I always liked the newer ones, Einsteinium, Californium, etc. Mostly because the names reminded me that science wasn't a set of laws that could never be changed. Even something as fundamental as the elements could change.

I also like the noble gases. They are noble, yet sneaky, with all their odorless, colorless non-reactive nature.

My favorite element is Carbon. It's just so useful, and I'm made of it.

A little off topic, I once was in Chemistry and I made a little sentence from the element abbreviations on the table.

I Am SO BOOTiLiCIOUS.

I was quite bored and quite tired.

Ba.

Without it you couldn't spell Bacon, babes, baldurs gate or BANHAMMER!, and without those things, the world would be a bad palce.

On a more serious note, I'm pretty gratefull for jolly old O. Not only does it support life as we know it, but it's an important part of alchohol.
