Yes, I have been affected by the global recession, it's been very good to me.
I invested about four grand I've been saving in Australian bank shares when they were at their lowest point in ages due to the global recession and, since then, they've double in value.
I even got an email asking me if I'd like to apply for a job at the university I study at last May for $25/hr, which I got and, out of 200ish applicants for four positions, that's not too bad. Plus there were for new positions instead of the usual three because my employer believed more people would come to university because of the global recession
Also, keep in mind Australia was never in a recession since it only had one quarter of negative growth before returning to an, admittedly slim, quarter of positive growth (a recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative growth).
So, overall, the only ways the global recession has affected me are positive ways. I love a good recession!
