Perhaps it's the depression bringing out the cynic in me, but how far gone is this community if we need to point out what I define as common sense?

Edit: Look, I'm not dismissing this thread, I just think it shouldn't have been necessary in the first place.

The moderators say that not enough posts are being reported, so this guide might actually be useful.
It might actually be an OVER-use that does it. Not so much that it's not being used, but that it's being abused.
I've been told that not enough people use it and that is takes more than one or two button presses to get something into the queue (So I'm assuming about 3-5). Hopefully this will balance it out and people who over use it will get some guidance, and those who never use it will finally get some courage to report a bad post.
Well in THAT case, when I next see me a lol-troll, I'mma button crush me some troll paste! :D Mmmm, paste.

Oh, I didn't know there was a report button in someone's profile. Good to know, thanks.

Aww, and here I thought that the report button was supposed to be used every time someone disagreed with something I said. hehe.

Both funny and functional. I like it. The only thing I noticed that you could do is to seperate the pictures and text with an extra line: otherwise they all blur together which takes down your presentation a notch.

If I may ask a question: how did you get the pictures?

So what your saying is that we should always report megapenguinX ahh it all makes so much sense now, :)

But seriously people report anything that offends you even if it doesn't strictly break the rules, then the mods can decide if its right or wrong.

I want to thank you for your post for the simple fact that I just went to candy.com.

5lbs. of malt balls?!
Yes! I'm not the only one :D

This thread was useful, because I actually didn't know (and have now got actually quite happy about this fact..) that you could report someone for using text speak.

I really do love the escapist :D

Don't forget to use it. Even if you think "someone else will get it". Use it.

Thanks for the tips, I already knew most of what I need to know, but it's nice with a reminder in case you forget something.

The mods have said that they don't mind replys in excess because at this point they don't get enough. It's not a automated system so hiting report is eather harmless or helpful, unless you know that the person didn't breach the rules, then it's a little stupid.
Yeah, if anyone remembers that something-necromancer guy with the turtle hitler avatar from last week.....

No,it is supposed to be used every time someone exhibits unpopular opinion. If someone likes USA,for example.

I went offline for an hour and missed it all, guess he wasn't that much of a troll.

My only criticism with this is that it doesn't really help stop list threads, I assume because of the abundant participation in them. I don't know whether it's because of the lack of reporting or if the mods condone it for newer posters' sakes, but their excess makes it seem like less of a minor offense and more an encouraged pastime.

I wasn't aware "List Threads" were frowned upon, though I have never made one it's quite good to know, thank you.

You should probably add the fact it takes three reports for the mods to see it (or so I belive) and so reporting is important.
Actually, it's a minimum of two reports from separate users.
I had no idea... I do report whenever I come across blatant trolling.

Great post Megapenguinx, both informative and funny. I never really thought of sending report files of entire profiles, I'll do that with those spammers from now on.

I'll update it in the morning with a few more additions (repeat threads and necro threads I've been thinking about adding but getting examples of those is hard).
As for the current examples, I went back to one of my earlier threads and edited them for a few minutes so I could take screen caps of what you see now. Then once I finished I put them back to normal.
EDIT:I updated the spacing a bit so it looks cleaner and am still trying to figure out a way to show a necro thread and repeat threads.
