I'm a little confused now, aren't people supposed to necro threads instead of reposting them? otherwise you might as well say: "If we've talked about it before, and not in the past month don't ever talk about it again, try and you'll get suspended/probatet for necroing or repeating"

Is it just me or does this seen weird, IMO you should add whatever you have to say to a thread, even if it's old. There might be a whole bunch of people who didn't notice the thread while it was active who would like a chance to see it and might have things to say as well.
People generally like necros over re posting since the necroed threads haven't been seen in a long time. However, in recent times if a thread has been necroed, it's now common practice to lock the thread and let the system delete it. So it really doesn't help people participate since the thread ends up getting locked anyways. If you really wanted people to join in an on an older conversation, start a new thread and link to the old one for the back story.

Thanks man, I'll use the report button now. I was always afraid I'd report for the wrong reason I'd get banned instead
Don't worry reporting is anonymous, but that doesn't mean you should report everyone who disagrees with everything you say.

I'm not sure if it's coincidence but here have been a lot of Report-worthy posts today.
Found that kind of funny myself. Hopefully people learned something from reading this though.

Each forum seems to have it's own necro rules. I tend to prefer sites that actually have a hard deadline on them so I am certain whether I am playing Dr Frankenstein or not. 30 days seems like a fair one.

One can hope. To be fair it mainly a certain person posting about a certain perk on a certain Call of Duty game. Certainly.

Very funny and informative. Thank you very much. Some of the things you said had me laughing while all being very good information that I think everyone should use. You, my friend, should be given a high five.

I've only come across the "repeated disturbing image" type thread once, but even that was too much. I wanted to bleach my eyes afterwards.

Hopefully this will stop the suffering.

These are some really great guidelines and all, but shouldn't a moderator have posted this instead of an Escapist user. (No offence to Megapenguinx)

They were up for a while like Zombie_Fish said, but were taken down after a week or so. I'll pm a mod and ask if the thread is sticky worthy yet.

This has been done before, but still it's nice to see an effort being made. Maybe some will be educated by this...

So...should I push the report button now? Should I have checked to make sure someone didn't post this joke already. Oh my, all this information to take in all at once. (consfused face)

...just hit your friend the "Report" button and let your friendly neighborhood mods sort it out...
Even with all the good intentions of megapenguinx, we do not recommending hitting your friends.

With best intentions,

Did we really need to be told when to use it... I thought it was pretty obvious already, but I guess I was wrong.

Reported.

Haha, only kidding :) Great guide! really like what you're doing, deserves stickying - if not already stickied.

EDIT: Haha, necro'd thread - the irony!
