It certainly puts my comment on having to tie them up in a new light. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go scrub my brain.
...Are you going to be cowering and asking god "Why?"
Can I join you?
You may join me. I might ask you for help perfecting my knife technique but only if you promise not to disturb me like that again.

No promises.
Cthulhu pays me for every mind I break.
I think it amuses him.

Can't be sure, though.

And yeah, I have plenty of practic--...
...Because I like to cook. Yes.
I find it increasingly hard to fear Cthulu since they turned him into a cuddly toy. It kind of detracts from the whole indescribable, unknowable horror thing.

If I bring the body will you show me how to gut it properly? Pig, of course, since we will be cooking.

I vote music! Seriously I listen to a lot of metal and that always helps me. Other than that, chill with friends, and just move on, no point in dwelling no stuff.

He's just using that to sneak into your home so he can terrify you into insanity when you're least expecting it!

Oh yes, of course, I would love to help you do this thing, which is definitely not an illegal act that is taking place under cover of something else.
He could try tickling me to death with his tentacles, that might work.

Maybe with your help I can finally learn to enjoy cooking. Particularly when it involves unnamed animal parts.

Do whatever you feel you must. You won't be wrong. Don't be ashamed of not being, "Over it", you can do that in your own time. Remember that if it were easy, it would have been shallow in the first place. This happens to everyone.

Like everyone else has said, get a hobby and just completely remove any trace of that girl from your life.

It's what I tell all of my friends, usually works.

For me I start exercising a lot more if I'm trying to get over a breakup.

Go out and hang out with friends, go be in public places, go to a movie by yourself.
Coming from a girl that's been dumped for pretty crappy reasons, I've found that walking with friends, taking up a new hobby or taking a class feels good.

You're empowering yourself and you've got to take a positive attitude as well, as hard as it may seem to be positive right now, it's possible.

It takes friends and some outside stimulation to achieve this.

We make ourselves happy by action, we are rarely happy because we just are.

Such a painful thread to read...

A lot of good suggestions already, keep yourself busy and so on.

I'd guess the best option is for new girlfriend, though for the unfortunate members like me where thats roughly akin to winning a lottery jackpot, time is your only answer.

As has been mentioned in literature many times: time is a great healer (though it's unbearably slow)

Recently, my girlfriend dumped me. I'd rather not go into the reasons, but let's just say it left me pretty devastated. It's been about a month or so, but I still get some unpleasant pangs of loneliness. Does anyone have any tips on getting over someone, outside of getting another girlfriend?

Best revenge is success. Concentrate on work, or school. Get a promotion or great, not good great, job. Now lead a happy life and smile and enjoy every moment of it so when you see her again and she see's how happy you are without her you are victorious in life and my friend that's the point.
Now should you be happy in life with someone younger, cuter and a cup size bigger than her than my friend you have become the master of life and simply wave at her as you pass by,laugh and tickle your new love for you are the one she let get away and that will burn in her soul something fierce.
Do not ever take her back because betrayal is like sex, she will want to do it again.

Interesting how 90% of us Escapists promote underage drinking.

I love you guys for that. <3

I will also remember this advice- ill need it some day- she dumps you then you get the upper hand

YES GET HAMMERED then hit on women. Or hit on women and get THEM hammmered SO BOTH OF YOU GET HAMMERED.

Then you can play carpenter. Hammering and nailing abound.
best 2 posts I've seen in days :D

so first attempt 1 if 1 doesn't work attempt 2 .... 2 doesn't fail that often :p

Don't cry cause its over, Smile cause it happened.

Also the more you talk about her, think about her, the longer the emotions stay there......im still getting mover my ex......its been 6 months, and everytime i think im just about getting over her, she pops back into my head.......But hey its called life.

If love was easy, everyone would be in it and it wouldnt be special when you have found it.

Screwing her best friend always helps. : )
Or you could do what I did: nail her babysitter(also one of her friends) in her livingroom while she's(the ex) asleep in the next room.
